I can still edit just fine, but only for an hour after making the post, which is how it's always worked. I'm not sure why they insist on that time limit or if there are any exceptions

To prevent you from maliciously editing posts after the fact to try and make other users look bad. The assumption is that an hour is long enough to fix any immediate mistakes you might have made/noticed, but after an hour you shouldn't need to edit it anymore (and if you do need to correct something after the fact, you can always just make another post afterwards.

I'm not even sure I could identify a Fall Out Boy song if you held a gun to my head, played three different songs, and asked me which one was the right one. I have pretty much zero idea what they sound like, other than a vague assumption that they're some sort of emo-ish band. But that could sound like almost anything.

At least with Panic I know like two of their songs. And I know they have a fetish for overly-long pretentious song titles.

you can just separate the boards back to how it was, just toggle the "all products" button next to topic list and then you can go to whichever platforms board you want by clicking the platform underneath the game title.

Your mistake was assuming that school is actually supposed to have any real world value.

It's mainly just to keep the little shits off the streets for 12 years (give or take), now that we've made it unacceptable to just send them to work in the factories.

I find that more annoying than anything. Mainly because there are often differences between different versions of games (meaning the answer for one port isn't always accurate for other ports), and they picked the most half-assed and broken way of combining the boards (ie, there are still separate boards, but you can see topics from the other boards without any differentiation).

It would be one thing if they combined every board into a single board, and it was obvious that there weren't platform-specific alternatives (ie, you can't choose between PC/PS4/Switch/Xbone boards for Stardew Valley, there's just one Stardew Valley board period). But the current way just encourages stupid people to not understand that they're reading posts from people playing other versions of the game (which people did even before the boards overlapped - but now it's much worse).

The PC/console divide is where it becomes the biggest issue - it's annoying to ask how to solve a problem in a given game and be told to use the "cheat console" or edit the save file or download a patch/mod when those are things you can't actually do when playing on PS4/Switch/Xbone. But there are other cases where platform crosstalk becomes annoying or renders advice useless

I get why they combined the game boards (because the site is dying and there aren't enough users on most boards to actually answer questions or make the game boards useful at all), but as per usual for GameFAQs, they picked the worst possible way to "fix" the problem.

A friend of mine used to mix bourbon and barbecue sauce in a crock pot and put hot dog slices in it. Let it simmer over time and it slow cooks the essence of the sauce into the meat.

I always told him it was a waste of bourbon, but he always really liked it.

The problem is that the spirit (no pun intended) of the rule is against intoxication in general, so if wine is bad then by definition any sort of distilled spirits are far worse (and thus would be even more prohibited). Same thing would apply to recreational drugs used for escapist purposes.

If you're looking for loopholes in your faith and are using "exact words" to justify why you should be able to get away with stuff, you probably shouldn't be following the religion in the first place.

I was into Kingdom of Loathing for a few years, and Elder Scrolls Online.for a few months, but it's probably been at least 5+ years since I've touched either of them. Beyond that, I avoid MMOs like the fucking plague.

I always sort of think about playing Star Wars: The Old Republic for the story at some point (and I even bought the game for like $10 years ago), but I can never muster enough of giving a shit to overcome my deep-seated antipathy for anything that involves online multiplayer, even if I'm just going to solo it anyway.

The real spoiler for Soylent Green is that the twist isn't even in the original novel. They added it for the film version.

In the book, the theme is basically just "Everything is fucked, and will continue to get worse forever." They don't even get the solution to overpopulation/depletion of resources the people in the film get.

For the same reason why most people can't control two dogs at once period. Because they don't bother to train them and aren't good at keeping them disciplined.

You just notice it more with larger dogs, because they're stronger and can pull against leashes harder. And because larger, stronger dogs can do more damage when they're being assholes than, say, a poodle can (and poodles can be nasty fucking dogs). And because you can punt a poodle or a Pomeranian halfway across the room if one tries to attack you.

Pitbulls are quite well-adjusted, loving, and relatively well-behaved even when untrained. They also rank pretty highly on the scale of intelligence by breed. Their main drawback is that they're larger, muscular (and often don't know their own strength), and overly energetic. The point of training is mostly to teach them to calm down and be obedient so you can keep them from hurting people without meaning to.

They're really only unstable and violent when they are trained to be. Either through deliberate training (by people who want them to be viscous for guard dog purposes) or casual abuse (by assholes). It's why you get the usual stereotype of the drug dealer who gets a pitbull and beats the shit out of it to make it hostile so it'll attack people. You have to make them that way. But you can make most dogs (or people) violent if you abuse them enough.

Like with most things, the actual problem is that people are shit.

Pitbulls are basically a breed that requires the owner to be both responsible and intelligent. Unfortunately, most pet owners (or people in general) are neither of those things these days. Which is part of why cats have become so popular as pets lately - because even the shittiest of people can own them and generally not screw them up through lack of effort. Cats exist. Dogs require work.

The only exemption to being a "natural-born" US citizen is having been alive and a citizen at the time of the ratification of the Constitution.

So no, vampires and Highlanders don't need to have been born in the US as long as they were US citizens around the end of the 18th century.

Sheer size alone doesn't equate to a guarantee of life. Especially when other factors (like timespan and the probability of life) come into play.

Even in a near-infinite universe, if the odds of life ever evolving are infinitesimally small, the end result can be the two variables counterbalancing each other so the final result is fairly close to 1 (or even lower). Until we know how probable the evolution of life is (and we currently have no realistic means of ever knowing that, because all of our knowledge is based on a single case study).

It's entirely possible that we shouldn't even exist.

I don't even eat alone in restaurants I have been to.

I'm not a fan of dining out, so I only really do it when I'm out with other people. Alone I'm much more likely to just get order out delivery, drive-up fast food, or just cook my own food if I'm anywhere near my own house (or grab something I can make without major cooking from a nearby grocery store if I'm not).

...I just remembered as I was posting that this scenario isn't actually all that different from Napoleon. He was born on Corsica shortly after it was annexed by France, so he counted as a French citizen by birth. But his family was actually Italian before that, and people have pointed out in the past that had he been born before the French conquest, he might not have been able to rise as high in the French military (and beyond) as he did, because his status would technically be different.

I was assuming they meant "of Hispanic descent", and just phrased it in an odd way.

Especially since there's an argument to be made that most Hispanics are just Native Americans anyway, in a sense. While the French mostly ignored local natives and the English/English-descended Americans went with the policy of killing most of them and taking all their stuff, the Spanish mainly just interbred with the natives and forced them to convert to Catholicism. Most Hispanic people in South and Central America probably trace their family trees back to at least some pre-Colombian natives.

Which is why I often like to point out that when people complain about how Hispanics are predicted to be the majority population in the US by 2050, in a way it's just the original natives moving back into their old lands and taking them back from the people who stole them in the first place.

(Though it's obviously more complicated than that - but historical demographics usually are.)

Yeah, if you've got some sort of King+ (like a Super King) that could be longer, but that's not a normal king.

Normal king and queen are the same length. Which is why I said I don't think the extra width is ever really necessary. Unless you've got more than two people sleeping in the same bed on a regular basis (and I wouldn't count kids, because they're smol).

iirc you're somewhat tall. It's not necessary, but the difference is enough that I would prefer not to go back to a smaller sized mattress.

Queen is big enough, but the way I sleep (I tend to put my arm under my pillow or behind my head) my feet stick off the end. Doesn't happen on a king.

I'm 6'3", and queen has always been long enough for me. I only had issues on a twin.

...but also, king, queen, and long twin are all pretty much the same length anyway. They're all supposed to be about 80" (6'8") long. So there shouldn't be any difference between a king and a queen based on length, only width.

I've never seen the point of a king. Unless you're in a polyamorous relationship or are an unnatural giant slab of meat, queen should be more or less enough for anyone (or even any two).

And if you're sleeping alone, a twin should be more than enough unless you're tall (like over 6' tall).

I think it's unfortunately becoming clear that Feige letting directors do too much of their own thing isn't working super great. Definitely let 'em bring some personality but Eternals, Strange 2, and Thor 4 all kinda show that somethings not working.

I feel like the problem is that putting him fully in charge of both the film division as well as the TV division - and making him a consultant for Star Wars on top of that - has finally spread him too thin. Now any value he once brought to the franchise is basically lost due to his lack of focus. And he's probably suffering from a bit of burnout at this point, which only exacerbates the problem.

It used to feel like Disney ruining Star Wars was more the exception, with Feige running the MCU as an example of how Disney could run a large franchise correctly. But now it's starting to feel like Disney is slowly starting to poison the Marvel well too.

Maybe the MCU was just a fluke, and now we're starting to get the creatively bankrupt version that was always inevitable.

I don't think I've ever seen traffic at a Chik-Fil-A that was more appreciable than any other fast food place. At least not so much that I've even remotely seen it affecting traffic as a whole. But maybe you're in a more rural area with worse roads where it shows up more. Or maybe your area is more culturally motivated to eat tons of Christian-endorsed chicken. Or maybe some other factor.
