The thing is generally this is cancelled out by being less fast and less physically aggressive. Football (soccer) is a sport full of reasonably tall and athletic as fuck dudes taking big fucking knocks out of each other. Most players are kind of around 6ft and pretty strong.

In more or less any other instance a 5ft3 player would be too short for the sport. Messi having supernatural abilities to glue the ball to his foot and see the game in slow motion just offsets that.

It's one of the reasons why I don't think the women winning the Euros is as big of an accomplishment as if the men did it. My ex (a vet surgeon) used to talk about the difference between vets and nurses, and I imagine that it can be a bit similar for doctors and nurses, and it reminded me of the difference between people who understand code and people who know how to find useful code and paste it in.

The vet nurses knew so many things, but usually only if it followed the script of things they'd handled before. So they knew better than the vets stuff like how many mls of X drug is required in Y scenario, that kind of thing. But when it came to uncharted territory, they didn't have the training or skills to handle a lot of things because it required a deeper understanding of the biochemistry involved.

That to me is a bit like what it's like working in a software company as someone who is not an engineer. I can google things and I can read code a little and I can copy/paste bits and pieces and follow things I know. But I can't create.

Anecdotes aren't much use in these conversations, but conversationally, i've only ever had food poisoning from things that weren't cooked properly to begin with, not from things that were stored a little too long. You can usually tell that it's bad to eat when it's been in the fridge too long anyway.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that exactly? The next step is a meeting with a judge or magistrate or something and we have to make our cases, and they decide again. I'm not sure I want to bother with my anxiety.

To me it sounds like it's unreasonable to say that "walking out means quitting", like they have determined for you what your own actions meant to you. Especially in the midst of a heated verbal exchange where it might have been perfectly reasonable to walk out. It would make a lot more sense if they said "walking out means you're fired", honestly. Did you consent to quitting?

The phrasing of it is so odd.

I don't know anything about employment law but this sounds like the legal version of "whoever blinks first has a big stupid eggface forever"
