All the bellyaching and ballyhooing of how much seasons 7/8 sucked, ruined the franchise, will never watch it again.

Then HOTD debut and it's the most watched show of 2022.

I mean, compared to the shitshow that is Rings of Power, Game of Thrones looks a lot better in comparison, so people are going back to it.

I don't really see anything funny here. People liked the universe. They seemed to just hate the way the people who ran GOT finished the series. I would imagine if you loved something that much you'd want it finished well.

I mean, if the new series is well-made then why not? (I haven't seen any of it)

Nah, S6/7/8 just were bad. HOTD S1 is good so far. Why is this so hard to understand?

Not really, it's pretty obvious why it happened.

The only season I didn't like was 8. I'm enjoying House of the Dragon so far.

Old series ended.

New series began.

This isn't hard to grasp why.

Nothing wrong with the GoT universe. D&D were just hacks that made the show worse when they started taking it too far in their own direction.

Haven't watched the new show yet, but good writers + showrunnere can still make the universe work.

This 'Lol I knew everyone would come crawling back to GoT' bragging is so bizarre.

If I love cake, and the cakemaker I've been going to for years started unapologetically making cakes that tasted awful and gave me the runs, I wouldn't buy cakes there anymore. Then, if that jerk went out of business and someone else took over with the implied goal of making good cakes again, I'm almost certainly give the new business their fair chance.

This is a prequel that takes place 150 years before the original show. Basically has all the same political backstabbing and maneuvering, but even more dragons. Just the White Walkers are missing.

Also the plot for the show has been fleshed out a lot in writings already and the ending is known, so we don't need to worry about the show runners trying to scrap their own ending together. I'm glad the show is doing well, there is so much potential in the GoT universe for more stories, would have been a shame if the final GOT seasons ruined everything.

because most of GoT was amazing but the complainers act like the last season ruins the entire series?

I think anyone who actually paid attention to the HOTD info prerelease knew it was gonna be better than seasons 5-8 of GOT. They were always talking about having a full plan laid out and being loyal to the books and having GRRM heavily involved

I'm admittedly intrigued but I'll wait and see the overall reception of the first season before starting it.

People have short memories. Folks were excited to have Hayden Christiansen back in SW despite everyone agreeing he was terrible

I don't actually care about the problems with season 8 enough to not watch HOTD. I'm just saying there were more problems with the 1 season of the show I didn't like than just being ahead of the books.

I enjoyed the original Game of Thrones show overall, and I'm not one to give up on the universe entirely just because I didn't like 1 out of 8 seasons of a show.

Legend of Korra as an example... I wasn't crazy about season 2, but I enjoyed 1, 3, and 4 and enjoyed the show overall.

People seem to be forgetting that there were 5 new GOT shows in production before Season 8, and the ending was so bad that 4 of them got canned, and HBO only kept the show w/ the most established source material and most likely to succeed.

Literally every major TV show has had prop/set goofs like this. A coffee cup being in the background of a scene is not what was wrong with that show, and it's a stretch to even say it was indicative of the problem.

Sure, every major TV show has goof ups, but it wasn't just Starbucks. A water bottle was also left in on another episode. Starbucks is just a more popular brand than water bottle manufacturer XYZ, so it makes sense that Starbucks remains in memory more.

How is that "funny" unless you lack basic critical thinking skills? No one had significant complaints about S 1-6, I mean, you even said it yourself

I hope you understand that most people are dumb and loved the ending of the show.

I didn't think the 7th season was terrible outside the fast travel which really made no sense
