Just read the OP so unsure what people are talking about ITT, but the main issue in the UK right now is the cost of living crisis.

People who were already on the breadline are now having their bills go up by at least 20%. Energy bills are skyrocketing. The winter is going to be brutal.

There used to be an argument to say that they're infinitely more responsive, so if you like being able to take off as fast as you intend then a manual is better for that. Autos are definitely more sluggish and indirect when you want to floor it.

That argument becomes less and less convincing the more sophisticated auto cars become.

Potentially spicy topic. I honestly don't know how I feel about the whole thing because it seems kinda convoluted.

As far as I can make out, the basic timeline went like this:

• ZeRo made his fame from being the god of smash bros back in the early 2000s
• Quit smash because he hated competing and eventually made a social media presence through youtube, twitch and twitter
• Became the number 1 smash bros content creator
• When the smash bros pedogate controversy happened, someone named ZeRo as soliciting her through text messages when she was underage
• He admitted to it, all hell broke loose and he stopped making content and disappeared from social media. He became a total pariah
• His wife left him and started making OF content (probably not a relevant point but it kind of makes me lol)
• A year or so goes past, in that time a news story surfaces of him trying to commit suicide
• Several smash bros celebs come forward to say that he was completely innocent and posted long form youtube docudramas about it
• He starts up his youtube again, saying that he was in a bad place mentally and felt pressured into saying he did it but that it was all fabricated and that he'd be pursuing a legal case against his accuser
• He loses a bunch of weight, at some point his wife returns
• He released a video like 3 days ago saying the court case was over and that all allegations were dropped, and both parties agreed to move on
• now ZeRo's channel is taking off again and people are hailing him as vindicated

I dunno. I read the legal statement and the feeling I got from it was "ZeRo doesn't THINK he did anything wrong, but the claimant can't be bothered going any further and doesn't want to be harrassed".

That's my take though. Maybe some people feel he was unfairly treated. I certainly think there's a weird spectator sport out of this stuff. Irony right there.

I don't think it is a "trend" but there are some I see around the city I live in. If you don't like them they are easy to avoid and the prices you quoted well, hyperbolic much?

The one I go to from time to time gained in popularity during covid when some people wanted to go out for a drink beyond lockdown time (10 pm) and it is small with two brothers who are very well known for their talent in mixing drinks (they have won awards). It is a hard-to-find entrance and once found, yes, you have to knock. I've never been given a speech but if you have questions, they are very knowledgeable. The history behind, for instance, gin, is very interesting.

Personally, I don't see the big deal because most areas offer a choice of places to visit that is varied enough, that no one type of place will bother me.

Hyperbole is my entire personality, I just went to one on saturday and remembered why I don't go to these places anymore

Oh neat, you don't have a website so I need to go sleuthing on social media to find the secret entrance and password to get in, and then we're gonna sit down in a bar so dark I can't see a damn thing, and you're going to send a guy with a mustache to give me a 5 minute speech about the menu and then I'm going to pay $20 for a drink I'll finish in 3 sips and the mustache guy is gonna come over like 7 times during that drink because there are only 7 patrons in this tiny place and he's bored
