Cut the cord now and let the wound heal over, you'll feel much better in the long run.

Don't do it. Any positivity you feel is gonna be ruined when you wake up and curse the shitstorm you've brought upon yourself, and if you're reaching out to stick a finger into some perceived wound, you're giving her the opportunity to do the exact same thing to you.

You will only regret reaching out to her, and whatever pleasure you take in it will be fleeting and magnitudes smaller than the fallout it causes. Don't text your ex.

I'm on the verge of buying it, but apparently they didn't add couch co-op to the remaster which is stupid. Doesn't really affect my playing experience, but I'm hearing enough bad stuff that I'm not sure if I should follow through.

There's also the fact that Blizzard is kind of an evil shitstain of a company. Probably shouldn't be giving them money

I'm thinking of buying the Prime Evil collection on Switch. I really like Diablo 3, the loot and grind of that game is 10/10, and I hear that Diablo 2 is generally considered to be better but the remaster was a bit botched.

So did they make it any more palatable after release? I know they fucked up the peer to peer connection on PC which is shitty, but otherwise I'm in the dark.

I know what's bothering me about this show.

Almost every game is the same thing. Every game is trying to be Dead Space. Even a new fucking Dead Space apparently got announced, which is hilarious.

The one thing that's even remotely different was that Witchfire game. Visually it looked amazing, but I'm not really popping boners over the idea of a magic gunslinger game. That and Flashback 2 which I've talked about.

It's all gritty grimdark atmospheric setpieces games.

So I'm not a big fan of games like Out of this World or Flashback, but I think they're incredibly interesting to read about. Flashback getting a sequel is really interesting, and I want to know more about it. Is the guy who made the first one working on it? Is this going to be a narrative platformer, or is it going to be a full AAA experience? I saw a hoverbike race in the trailer, so it might have a bunch of different gameplay elements.

Honestly, I just generally like game news. People get pissy about Nintendo Directs where they don't announce a new Mario or Zelda game, but I'm usually pretty whelmed by them. I like hearing about new stuff, and I like when new information comes out about released products. I'm an enthusiast, not a hypebeast.

That being said, I'd really like it if there was a new Nintendo Direct right around the corner. And I will say that last year's Game Awards were laughably bad, from Geoff's non-statement about industry harassment where he didn't name names due to the Awards being a corporate-sponsored advertising showcase to the tepid at best announcements to the Imagine Dragons performance.

Whats with the hate Ive been seeing against Gotham Knights?
In my case, it looks very sterile. Like it clearly took a lot of people a lot of time to make, which I don't want to disparage. But it looks like Checklist: the Video Game. It looks like a total chore.

Some games can pull that off, like I mentioned. Nothing about Gotham Knights speaks to me in that way. Same bland superhero combat, same bland missions and combat encounters strung along in an open world environment. The open world looks incredible, I'd love to walk around and take it in, but the gameplay honestly repulses me. I don't like it.

I can't speak for anyone else, but Gotham Knights feels more like a product than a game to me. The story snippet they showed feels so generic and boring. I just don't like it.

That being said? I haven't played the Insomniac Spider-Man games, and they give me the exact same feeling based on what I've seen. I also haven't played the Arkham games outside of a few missions, which gave me the same feeling again. I'm just not into AAA superhero games - Injustice is okay, but even that has diminishing returns in the second game y'know. None of it rings true to me. It feels like a mindless chore to watch, let alone play.

idk, maybe I'm just growing out of superheroes or something.

I'm watching the VOD to catch up on all the trailers and stuff.

Street Fighter 6 looks really good, like a game I would actually play.

Gotham Knights looks like a corporate turd - I hate saying it because it's clear that a lot of work went into it, but when the guy said "each activity is like its own mini game mode" I was like "UGH IT SOUNDS SO TEDIOUS". Like I can and will sit down and systematically check off every activity in Saints Row the Third - that's just a game that does it for me. It's fun. I do that because I like the gameplay and systems. Same for Borderlands, which I'm literally playing right now on a second character playthrough and a seventh playthrough overall. Gotham Knights looks like a game I'd play for five hours with a former friend, not because I want to play it but because he doesn't want to play by himself and it's a prerequisite to us hanging out.

I think I figured it out.

By the Way I Forgive You is an emotional rollercoaster. It's rooted squarely in Nashville. This new album is trying to have more of a broad reach, and it is more of a broad appeal, but it doesn't have the same appeal as the previous album because it was tuned into a more specific frequency.

This new album isn't terrible, but going forward? It's not gonna reinvent the wheel, and By the Way, I Forgive You is the wheel.

By The Way, I Forgive You is a masterpiece. Songs like Sugartooth and Fulton Country Jane are incredible for their compassion and sadness, as are most of the songs on that album. Most of All has had me sobbing at the thought of my parents dying. It's a Grammy Award winning album for a reason, and the Grammies are rigged as shit - it's just a solid 10/10 country album, coming from someone who hates bro-country.

The Mother is a better parenthood song than With Arms Wide Open. The Joke is more.of a statement, but it's incredibly powerful. This entire album holds up. It's a masterpiece.

In These Silent Days is following a behemoth of a record. I've heard it's more of a glitzy arena affair, and the first song definitely feels like that. I don't expect to like it as much, but I hope this new album is pretty good.

Okay, fair judgement. Like I love Rocky movies, but I would still call Rocky 2 kinda shitty in the context of the first movie.

How about this: unnecessary sequels that were especially shittier than the first movie. The real cream of the crap, the ones with zero reason to exist both past and present. Ones the retroactively ruin the first one, and poison the legacy of a much better film.

Like John Wick 2 is kinda unnecessary, but also those movies are fantastic action flicks as a whole and the third movie is GOAT tier. Smokey and the Bandit 2 or Cannonball Run 2 are formulaic retreads that ruin exceptional popcorn fare.

Smokey and the Bandit 2.

The first movie is a simple premise carried by the charisma of its main cast. Burt Reynolds and Sally Field thought the script was dogshit, but they did what they could with it and the end product is endlessly entertaining.

The sequel has a needlessly complicated cargo, there's a pointless Dom DeLuise role that consists of him being a big ham with an exaggerated Italian accent, the first act is bloated and pointless and the movie feels twice as long as the first one. Not even the big setpiece at the end makes up for how laborious the rest of the movie is.

The third movie is rated worse on IMDB, being a TV-length movie with Lou Reed taking over for Burt Reynolds, but it's at least a straightforward nuts-to-butts race between two worthy adversaries.

Oh wow. I don't really know how to react to someone copy-pasting one of my rants into another topic - it's a big compliment that it rang true enough to be repeated by someone, so thank you for thinking of it.

God I don't want to sound like a narcissist or an egomaniac in saying this, but it does bear repeating - there is a defined path that got us to where we are today. There's a history of something fucked up happening, people complaining and other people downplaying it. There's a cycle of escalation that makes it easier to defend the next big controversy as "people being too sensitive".

One of the most disheartening things about the past few years has been realising how short-term people's memories are of this shit. But if you've been paying attention, you can see how things have gotten to this point. Charlottesville was initially branded as a point of alienation, the alt-right going too public with their extremism too soon and alienating the core Republican base before they were properly assimilated into the whole.

But look at us today - there were enough people downplaying it that most people don't really remember it or care. More protestors began getting hit by cars after Charlottesville. More "patriot"-style conservatives, the ones who still observe 9/11 as the most solemn day of the year, have been descending into more fringe shit since Trump and the subsequent rise of the alt-right. Look at qanon - it's absolute fucking gibberish you'd see in screenshots of some bad day on 4chan. You have real-world conservatives, grown men and women, shooting their family members or kidnapping their children to take them to a militia group over this brainrot internet conspiracy theory.

The alt-right has been absorbed into the Republican base, much like the Tea Party was. Avowed neo-nazis like Richard Spencer began the push, inciting people to "hail Trump" to a flurry of nazi salutes. They organised "heritage" protests over confederate statues, during which people flew swastika flags. They downplayed Trump and his cult of personality as humour, or "actually pretty smart when you think about it". You had people downplaying the January 6 insurrection, either not understanding that an armed force had just forced their way into a building with every sitting US Senator with rifles and a mock gallows to hang one of them, or didn't seem to think that was a big deal. It has been one push after another to normalise the world being this fucked up, one stepping stone to the next, to the point that protestors are CALLING THEMSELVES FASCISTS.

This is the product of a deliberate process, part of which is downplaying the impact of events like this and insisting they have no real power. And unless we start taking this shit seriously? It's not the intended end product, either.
