I'd tell everyone to watch the whole episode, but it's the (premature) season finale of season 7 and it has myth arc stuff in it. If you don't care about that, or if you were to hypothetically put in the time to watch 7 seasons of the show and probably wouldn't remember this episode if you did, go nuts.

The actual footage in this episode is like an uncanny cross between an isometric game like the Sims, a Telltale game and Garry's Mod. The environments aren't rendered properly and there are scenes where the camera is free-floating and controlled manually.

I stopped watching after 12 minutes. I need to come back to this with fresh eyes.

The worst part is that it cuts back and forth between live action and CG to use what they were able to film, so you get the decent flesh-and-blood acting alongside some really rough CG they had to finish in thirteen days.

I'm just gonna repeat what I said elsewhere because there's no other way of wording it:

It's cel-shaded at times, but it doesn't disguise how rough the models are. It doesn't look like it's rendered properly most of the time, especially when it comes to buildings or other sets. The lip-sync is terrible - it's like a PS2 game. The way the scenes play out remind me of a bad Telltale game.

Apparently the CG team finished the episode in 13 days. I commend them for that, and I appreciate that they tried something cool and unorthodox for the fans. But Christ, it's a spectacle.

For me, the thought of being drunk again beats out any nausea. I know I'm gonna get over it and keep sinking drinks as fast as I can, and I view that as feeling better.

I've tried to institute a personal rule of "don't drink two nights in a row". Of the past 7 times I've drank in the past 2 months, I think 3 of those nights were the second night of drinking in a row, so I'm not very good at keeping my own rules.

That's just replacing one bad habit with another.
Reformed speed freaks tend to move onto habitual use of coffee or energy drinks.

Mitigation isn't an ideal solution, but if it gets you away from one thing that is more at risk of killing you, that's a positive.

Anyway - I tried doing the same thing TC. It stuck for a while, I ended up drinking 7 nights in 2 months which was way better than every Friday and Saturday. Slipped back into it pretty hard recently because everything's stressful, but the alcohol is making it more stressful so I'm about to try and stop again.

Good luck quitting, it really is a matter of willpower - I had to quit cold turkey going into 2021 due to health problems, and it was incredibly tough and incredibly satisfying at the same time. If you can make it 2 months sober, it feels fucking fantastic.

There were a handful, mostly allusions to CSI because the main characters work on a CSI-type show. They didn't bog the movie down or anything though.

Watch I Love You, Man too. Also, the film mentioned in the title is called Forgetting Sarah Marshall just since it wasnt already pointed out
Yeah I fucked up the title unfortunately, lol. I took a gamble on the title and lost.

Anyway - it was really good. Lots of cringe comedy, and it was kinda clear that Peter was kinda shitty, but the character development is really good. Seeing him lighten up over the course of his stay was really therapeutic and awesome. Also, Jason Segal has a pretty great-looking dick.

I really liked how near the end of the movie, after Peter has had four or five of these flashbacks to his relationship that start off contemplative and sad and turn into him realising the shitty parts of it, Sarah Marshall has one where she realises one area where Peter shone where Aldous really doesn't. Like, Peter was pretty self-centred and hard to be with sometimes, but he appreciated things she did that other people probably wouldn't have. It was a good way of flipping the script.

I also like how Sarah and Aldous are kind of one dimensional and flat at the start of the story, fitting into Peter's narrative of the whole situation - even when we're just seeing them without Peter being there, they mostly exist to set up jokes at the expense of the situation. But as Peter has time to decompress and spend more time around them, seeing them less as those figures of discomfort and as robust and autonomous human beings, their characters flesh out and they get more screentime to work out their own shit. It's less that they develop as characters, and more that they aren't really characters at the start of the movie and they are characters by the end.

I dunno. I really liked Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Paul Rudd was just kinda there, I thought he was in more of the movie, but it's a really fun and grounded movie that felt kinda therapeutic to watch.

I remember really liking this movie as a teenager. I've been meaning to re-watch it for a coupe years now, I had a friend who was really into How I Met Your Mother and I wanted to watch it with him but we don't talk any more. What finally did it tonight was a stream I was watching where the streamer was talking about Jason Segal due to that Dispatches from Everywhere show or whatever, and she was talking about the Muppet movie and stuff and I realised I had to go back to watch this movie.

To this day, I remember scenes like Jason Segal pulling a banana out of a pina colada, his response to running into his ex in Hawaii being a sarcastic "I'm here to kill you", and Paul Rudd saying one of my favorite pieces of life advice ever - when life gives you lemons, just say "fuck the lemons" and bail.

It could go either way, but I think I'm going to really enjoy it.

Okay, I can see how PlsGod ruffled a few feathers with that one.

I have actually tagged SBAllen in the past and got a response - a productive response even, since a person who was being a blatant anti-Semite ended up getting banned. And it feels embarrassing and cringe, but sometimes this website can be too much and you lash out in ways like this. Tagging moderators tends to tread a pretty fine line; depending on how you do it and why, it's a solid 50/50 gamble of putting yourself onto a shitlist.

I can see where PlsGod was coming from. We've had a prominent shitposter for the past year or so who keeps trolling about the age of consent and talks about this age gap in his relationship that started when his now-wife was 14, and the shit he gets into and defends regarding children and sexuality really weirds me out. We also have Xsquader, who was eventually banned because he threatened to sue GameFAQs - one of his last big egregious moments was to brag about how he got a 14 year old girl and her friend drunk so they could have a threesome. Dude didn't get banned for that - he might have gotten modded, but he didn't get banned. It was only after making legal threats that the mods cracked down on him posting on this website.

So I get why dude lashed out. And I kind of agree, because gamefaqs does have a problem with people who hem way too close to pedophile apologism or who downplay the sexualisation of minors, who draw significant criticism for their views but who rarely end up getting modded. Granted, none of us know if anyone actually marks those posts for moderation - maybe that's a productive solution on our end.

I don't want to like tone-police PlsGod, but I think in treading that fine line between making a solid point and bothering the mods, he was maybe a bit too concise and irate in how he expressed his feelings on the matter. I get why he was angry, and I agree with his anger - there are users who post really shitty, creepy things about teenagers, and it really bothers me when a user can respond to a question like "can a 12 year old child consent to being put in a sexual situation" with an answer like "technically, yes - I do believe that a 12 year old can consent to that" and NOT get a banhammer swung at full force into their nutsack.

But I also think the message was a bit inflammatory in its tone - coming from an emotional place, I can understand why. But to then tag the admin and a prominent lead mod was probably a poor move on PlsGod's part.

I wouldn't tag SBAllen in something like this again, it was kinda terrifying the first time - it was a serious matter and I stand by my principles, especially since it got results, but I don't want to risk putting myself on that shitlist y'know. It's like a last resort bat-signal that might put you in more strife than you'd maybe like, and if you feel like you've got to use that, you've gotta make an airtight case. So tl;dr, I sympathize and empathise with PlsGod, but the way he went about making his point was flawed. They're still an okay user though.

Freezer Pops isn't gonna get taken down unless they change the rating. I also saw a machine translated game called Mischief Dungeon Life that's based on an 18+ VN, but with enough changed to get labelled as "sexually suggestive" rather than "strong nudity" and/or sex scenes. Even the screenshots they provided look horny as shit, like they painted over a hentai frame without changing the suggestive placement of a hand fondling a labia.

MrMallard
05/28/22 2:09:23 AM

Whenever I do the hitching post thing to unlock my phone, I think about how if magic were a real thing, phones are probably the best modern conduit to cast spells by drawing runes. Like you draw a line pattern to summon a wall of flames or cast a firebolt spell.

Like it's just a phone lock screen grid, but you unlock more pegs the more you level up and that lets you cast more runes with bigger effects. If you get the rune wrong, the spell is either weakened or nullified - or maybe it does damage to you instead if you fuck up badly enough. The more pegs get unlocked, the harder it is to cast runes perfectly - so when you can draw a 20-point rune perfectly, it's hype as fuck.

Imagine standing face to face with someone, having a wizard battle with them by drawing runes into your phones. That would be fucking awesome.

That DLC was pretty fun from what I recall, yeah. Part of me kinda preferred BL1 to BL2, honestly.
I only played the second game for the first time relatively recently. It's good, but it's very cluttered and it's really dated as well.

Like the first game isn't exactly quality. There's a lot of dead air and repetitive tasks. But it has a simplicity to it that makes it fun to come back to time and time again.

Try playing Borderlands 2 today and the "wouldn't it be crazy if this plausible and extremely cruel thing were to occur right now without any warning? Aren't I glad that this fairly likely and incredibly painful scenario has absolutely zero chance of ever affecting me!" humor gets old really quick. Sanctuary citizens walk around making dubstep noises with their mouths.

And frankly? I like Claptrap. I kinda hate what they turn him into in 2, and by killing off the rest of the Claptraps and making him the last one, I think the cruelty they level towards him makes me dislike the game more than I'm supposed to dislike Claptrap.

And like I kinda get the Handsome Jack thing, but I don't get why everyone gets a raging boner over him being one of the best video game villains ever. It's like the games start taking themselves a bit too seriously when I kinda prefer the vibe of being a goon looking for treasure.
