My experience with engineering firms is that many are still good ol' boys clubs.

It's weird, I keep hearing this but have never experienced it despite having worked for three separate engineering companies. I'm starting to think this used to be the case, but is incredibly overstated today.

My experience was from 3 - 7 years ago and there were improvements made in that time as many of the old engineers retired. But it takes a long time to actually get people into those experienced positions. Your perspective and experience working under an old boys club will be vastly different if you're a male, you're not subject to the same treatment. Listen to the women in the industry.

Fiber should make you poop more, not less. I've been pooping at about the same rate. I haven't been backed up, just really gassy

Right what I'm suggesting is you've got more hanging on in your digestive system right now as you adjust to a high fiber diet. Once your body is used to it you will poop more. But it has to work itself through first. Try taking magnesium and drinking more water.

If it's a big change from your old fiber intake gas and bloating are totally normal.

So the article mentions that there are many reasons for it, and while the reason it gives is a interesting one I think it kind of misses that everyone started using computers in 2000's, it wasn't just a thing that "boys" did anymore.

Tech fields are still heavily marketed to men. Look at what happens when you point out that most gamers are women... They get called casuals and not really interested. Yet they're still the ones using the tech. It's a rather discouraging environment, and over time women drop out after feeling they don't fit in or aren't taken as seriously. The same is true of many STEM fields. They can be outright hostile to women in the working environments. I've met many women that completed STEM degrees and went back to school to do anything else rather than have that be their working life. My experience with engineering firms is that many are still good ol' boys clubs. Obviously not true everywhere, I was just a bit taken aback witnessing the behavior (particularly from the very old male engineers). Good on the people that tough it out and I can't fault anyone for not wanting to deal with that treatment forever.

I felt a little bloated for a few days and then the poop started. Lots of fiber makes a big backlog

Really nice kitten pics ^_^

Now be honest, out of 100, how would you split the credit between you and the camera.

80% skills 20% camera?

Camera? It's the lens, my friend. I could put that lens on my 10 year old camera body and still take most of the shots I do, though they'd be much grainier at higher ISO.

That said, if I tried to take the same shots with something like a cell phone camera of course it's not going to come out the same. Nor would it come out the same with even my old camera body and a different lens, or current body and different lens.

The tools are absolutely important in the overall potential for image quality--but it takes skill to really make a difference. My camera body and lens have great potential for photographs. Most people won't use it appropriately. I can't give you a % difference. A great camera will not make a bad photographer better.

Yeah for some reason the dog's photo - while a nice photo, but something isn't quite right as the cat photos.

Good pics Doctor Foxx (The 3rd and 4th images of cats really stand out, at least to me)

It could be that her face is all crooked. I have less dog experience. Here's one I took yesterday:

I1PtnbIh

With the lens and body cropping it can feel a little off shooting the dogs in portrait orientation. It's usually what works best for them and not what I use for most cats. Sometimes I will. It changes the composition.

Cats though...

I definitely couldn't hand my camera over to someone, even with the settings calibrated properly, and expect them to shoot nearly as well. Or even to get a non-blurry photo.

Animal photos require angle and other things don't? Obviously angle matters HEAVILY in LITERALLY every photo.

And please do post the photos of the cats, not only I love cats but I wanna see and understand how different a photographer's photos are.

What? No. Animal photos are a moving subject that does not take directions for posing or sitting still. It requires a lot of patience and anticipation of movement to capture exactly what you want. It's significantly more tricky than human portrait photography in my experience. And I have a lot of experience.

Angle, lighting, composition apply to all subjects. Animals have their own extra difficult variables.

Video is a bit different from stills in my experience. I have a lot more experience with still photography (film and digital) but a fair amount with video. I don't think that a videographer and a photographer necessarily have the same skills though there is a large overlap with each having their unique refining qualities.

Photography does require skill. Anyone can hold a camera and press a button. But to capture as you intend, to compose well, and to actually create a pleasing image is not just pushing a button. You need an eye and a feel for it all.

I have spent years photographing animals now and I can tell my skills have grown substantially. My technique has changed in time.

Because you're unlikely to hit with a killing blow and poison can finish the job. And I don't think they have 100 of those things. They deployed only one in that fight and if they had even one more machine at the ready it would have been foolish to leave it unused.

The last of the dragons were said to be poisoned by the Maesters. I imagine there would still be texts about the poison of choice. And the Lannisters love their poison...
