I'll be considering waiting on a sale on characters, as I paid $25 for the first set of MKX characters and then Kombat Pack 1 dropped to $10 or something upon the release of XL. But it's no fun waiting on games you're actually gonna play for a year just to save a little money, and fighting games are the best.

I've abandoned it for a good while now, but I was quite impressed by it. There's a sense of scale that doesn't feel pointless even with a large amount of empty space. It feels like an adventure. Good combat too. It can actually force you to strategize how to take outposts and such.

That doesn't sound new. It pretty much covered the NES, GB, and a certain amount of SNES, Genesis and GBA. PS1, in particular, it had almost perfect, aside from a lack of some sometimes-necessary buttons and sticks.

Magic and enemy attacks made this game work a fair amount better than the other. And you can talk to all the enemies! Although that made me feel bad about killing them.

Although I guess we got a lot of horror movie characters in MKX.
I'm trying to decide on the Ultimate Edition. It's $80 from Best Buy, which is more manageable than $100, but I do have to pay tax on it, unlike PSN. Figuring $5 apiece it's 45 for all the characters.,vs. 35 with tax. I'd also get the characters a bit early.

I believe the rules said that games with no English release would go by the actual release. And I think it's a stretch to kick DQV down the line to the DS remake, which might as well be a different game, rather than considering Japanese DQV on the SNES.
Although you're welcome to vote based on remakes released in those years too.
