So Canada gave a terrorist $10 million dollars, but is deporting a special needs girl for being too expensive?

What the fuck

Please, continue misrepresenting the Omar Khadr case

But yeah, this kind of thing isn't too unusual, as disheartening as it is to hear. Elderly are also frequently rejected by immigration. I remember a case where someone couldn't bring their mother over or something.

Canada literally awarded a known terrorist with ten million dollars stolen from taxpayers.

But Canada can't support this family and this girl even though the family is contributing a tremendous amount in taxes. More than they use.

What a fucking joke to hide behind "herp DERP stop misrepresenting that terrorist case!~!1111"

Omar Khadr won a lawsuit directed at the Canadian government. There was enough evidence to suggest that Canada partook in some illegal shit, or didn't properly look out for the rights of a Canadian citizen, and let an underage person get tortured in Gitmo which is against the fucking law.

Canada spent a lot more than $10 million defending itself, and they still lost a lawsuit that was presented in the country's own Supreme Court - what about that money? It's more complex than "Cuck-anada gave ten million to terrorists!!!1!".

This is like 5 years old or something like that

Aye, I saw it when it made its first rounds. It's from like 2013 - 2014.

For what it's worth, the girl did this because she was interested in Japanese culture. She didn't smear white makeup on her face and start speaking broken English because that's what she thought Japanese people did, she apparently looked it up and was legitimately into the whole thing which is why her mother put the thing together. The facepaint could have looked a bit better before her mother put the photos up on the internet for everyone to see, but it's a genuine interest and desire to know about Japanese culture that fuelled this activity.

A part of the argument, aside from the tacky facepaint, is that it's wrong for white people to wear kimonos. Except people who have been to Japan have received kimonos from Japanese people as a gift. A long as you're respecting their culture, and wear the clothes with respect and dignity, there's no reason not to wear them. I think the post mentions that the girl had her kimono on the right way, like she and her mother looked it up and did it that way? I'm not clicking on that clickbait link. It looks like it was done with love, not like her mother draping a curtain over her and tying it around her with a bath towel. If that's the case, then there shouldn't be that much of a fuss.

Kimonos aren't sacred. They're formal clothing. Wearing a Native American headress is more along the lines of cultural appropriation than this, because it means something special to the Native Americans. Isn't it a ceremonial headress? It's understandable to feel offended at some idiot throwing one on for the aesthetic, because that is a special item to the culture. Kimonos are unique to Japan, and in a way they're a cultural symbol. But they're not religious robes, or signs of higher power. They're formal clothes that people wear to festivals and stuff, and there are white people who are respectful of Japanese culture who have been given kimonos. There are people of other races and cultures in Japan who wear kimonos on special occasions. There's no taboo over wearing kimonos, and insisting that there is, because white people are conquerors and lack the respect necessary to wear the clothes, is total bullshit.

Remember the absolute shit-storm of Blue Lives Matters posting and other general cop nut-hugging when people were calling for police body-cams, saying crap like people wanted to inconvenience the police so they couldn't do their job properly and being outright offended that a powerful group with the power to send people to jail would be characterised as incompetent and in need of monitoring?

Well, look at what's happening now. Police incompetency and corruption is coming out of the woodwork because these pieces of shit are intentionally sabotaging their bodycams and committing crimes, and other bodycams as well as other video sources are showing these breaches of power for what they are.

TopicWho do you side with in the Angry Joe vs Subscribers debate?
MrMallard
07/30/17 1:00:17 PM
#61
I never really liked Angry Joe, he's always come across as needlessly caustic even for a gimmick "grr!! angry vidya game dude!!" channel, and he's so up his own ass sometimes. I'm certainly not losing any sleep over this.

I mean, I support his decision - it's his channel, if he wants to retool it to make content that he likes then I'm down with that. But I don't entirely blame his fans, either. Video game reviews are what made Angry Joe who he is, and you'd hope that after covering them for so many years he'd stick to his guns. Do movie reviews, expand your repertoire - whatever you need to make it through the day. But if a game-focused Youtube channel decides to stop covering video games for as long as four months, then they're going to lose viewers who wanted to hear them talk about video games.

Of course, fans are almost always batshit crazy - especially when your subscriber base goes up into the millions. Just recently there's been drama involving the Game Grumps over that Dream Daddy game - one dummied-out ending has turned a budding fanbase into a venomous cesspit of garbage in less than a month, and it's over some stupid dogshit that has no bearing on the game itself. When the myth grows larger than the real person, then dehumanisation takes over and both praise and criticism gets extremely ugly.

I think Angry Joe made the wrong choice. Dude should maybe do a retro game series, something to tide his fans over instead of switching gears to a wider multimedia scope at the expense of his video game coverage. But I sincerely doubt that every negative thing being thrown his way is justified, because I imagine a lot of that backlash is beyond calling him a hack now, and is particularly more vitriolic and heinous.

Meanwhile, Trump's son met with a Russian lawyer to hopefully get dirt on Hillary Clinton, and there was all sorts of fuckery going on at the G20 convention between Trump and Putin. Who knows if aliens even have gender dynamics like that? They could be the same gender and able to fuck with each other, like the Asari from Mass Effect, or they could do what the Romans did and be super into gay sex without needing to distinguish what that makes their sexual orientation.

So yeah, I think aliens can be super gay. That, or impossible for them to be gay due to how their species' distinction between sexes works.

That looks weird

It's actually pretty good. It's from before anime got really gross, the premise is that the main character has to take care of his cousin and he becomes more responsible through that. The romance angle is that he has a crush on this girl who sees him as a giant blowhard, and through his self-betterment she begins to see more to him. There's no shitty pedo humor, and any fan service in the show comes from the love interest (and in very tasteful amounts).

The show also has dark moments to it. One of the first storylines involves a high-schooler bullying a pre-schooler because they perceive the pre-schooler as "stealing" the affections of someone they like. They say a lot of heinous shit like "your mother doesn't love you" to a four year old, shit is crazy.

The animation gave me a Johto-era Pokemon vibe. It's still done on cels, so it's got that nice late 90s/early 00s feel to it, and it makes use of a lot of bright pastel colours. It's a really good anime - it has more drama and darkness than you'd expect from a kids show, but it isn't really "adult" in any sense of the word. I'd say it's an emotionally mature show that's rooted in fiction enough to just chill out and go with it, but with a premise that's fairly grounded.

I think this is gonna be a one-and-done sort of game.

I bought it because the graphics looked really cool, and because I wanted to try a Grasshopper Manufacture game. I've heard that Suda51 games tend to get crazy and weird, but I wasn't quite ready for how avant-garde this game comes across as right out of the gate. Lots of weird imagery, mostly involving the moon, and a lot of long, continuous dialogue involving subjects that don't make a whole lot of sense - not yet, and maybe not ever.

I'm not hot on hack n' slash games, so I jumped in on the Easy difficulty. The plan was to play it once in Easy mode, then replay it in Normal with Japanese voices. But after playing three missions, I feel like there's a bit of jank in the movement and I'm not sure how I'm liking the game's artsy atmosphere. The aesthetic is cool, I particularly like the title cards of each mission, but the game doesn't feel so hot to play. Part of that is apprehension at playing a Japanese hack n' slash, but a majority is because objects have clipped through the main character and I've gotten stuck on lamps. The game looks sleek and awesome, but the gameplay has rough edges.

I knew that this game was a hack n' slash game before I bought it, so that's on me. I'm not going to verbally buttfuck it for that. I'm here for Suda51 - this is actually my first Suda game ever. The question is, how much am I going to like Suda's style? Right now it's interesting, to say the least.

Solid > Naked > Liquid > Solidus > Venom.

Solid and Naked could go either way. Big Boss had a long, hard career of war, and he cheated death multiple times. He was the OG super-soldier, and he was taken out by FOXDIE rather than natural causes - though the only reason he lived that long was due to an extended coma, and by using the organs of one of his clones. Even then, dude clearly had cred. But Solid Snake fought to his dying breath, and he made some hard fucking calls. He was created to be a tool, but he broke free and began a career of peace-keeping and trying to stop war. Solid tried to do the right thing, and as you can see in 4, he gave it everything he had - despite having less time on Earth, his skills and determination rival those of Big Boss himself. And that's worth something.

Liquid took a long-ass time to die. Despite his pompous nature, he had longevity and he was a cunning son of a bitch. Solidus had his own mind-bending plan, but in the end he was a pawn of the Patriots, no matter how much he tried to escape it. Liquid was a loose cannon - he was free.

Venom has cred for sure - I've played over 300 hours of TPP, so I've seen him have some mad skills - but the fact is that he was a delusional medic preyed upon by Big Boss into continuing his macho legacy and doing his dirty work for him. He had no skills for a majority of his life, and he became a pawn of Big Boss - unwillingly, via suggestion and hypnosis, and then willingly when he learned the truth. He's the Snake with the weakest mind, and his skills only offer a smokescreen for the real deal - as far as Snakes go, Venom is a pretty pale imitation. The skills are there, but the spirit isn't - he is a tool, plain and simple.

The officers didn't expect to be dealing with such a huge idiot, what they said is fairly reasonable.

Drinking something you know will kill you is beyond stupid.

His other option was likely a major prison sentence, so... giving him that option wasn't right. They basically sentenced him to death themselves, Saying "Dang, I didn't think he'd actually do it." doesn't change the fact that they asked him to do it, and risk his life. He obviously wasn't going to drink it until they asked him to.

no, you're wrong! he was a giant idiot who did a stupid thing, and it was all his fault! these fine officers did nothing wrong, and the fact that the kid drank concentrated drugs is a testament to what a moron he was!

CE makes me angry. They told him to drink from the bottle, and he chose to die rather than get processed and sent to jail. the officers should have followed protocol instead of encouraging the boy to ingest a deadly liquid, and whether they were surprised at his actions or not they denied doing what they did to cover their asses. Fuck them, and fuck blaming the victim on this. I hope they're removed from any position of power.

Do the games lag as much as they did on Genasis, or more? If it lags on Sonic 1 when rings fly out everywhere, then i's fine - that's how the game itself reacts regardless of platform. If there's added lag for more intensive hardware functions, then fine - the thing sucks.

RPGs?

I have three different JRPGs on my PS3 hard drive. I'm not playing them all at once, because I don't hate myself that much.

I've played the start of both Atelier Totori and Tales of Symphonia, only to switch games later on. With Tales, it's because I wasn't into the combat - though I checked it out this evening as a bunch of games were downloading, and I genuinely enjoy the aesthetic and feel of the game, even if it's a subpar port. This is a game I could power through if I had nothing else to do. Atelier Totori just felt weird to play after playing Atelier Ayesha, a bunch of the men look really weird and Gino is annoying as fuck. Still, I really enjoyed Atelier Ayesha and I want to get into the Atelier series. Suikoden 2 is a recent purchase, and I'm looking forward to playing it - I really enjoyed Suikoden 1, and this one is supposedly one of the best JRPGs ever made. But I don't want to rush it while I'm playing like three other games.

Which one should I prioritize? Should I play Tales first and get it out of the way, hopefully finding what makes it special in the first place? Or should I pour my time into Atelier Totori first, and get through a solid but slightly unorthodox RPG before going onto the "classics"? Of course, If Suikoden 2 is worth playing first, then I'm down with playing it first - the whole reason I'm making this thread is to ask whether it's worth giving Suikoden 2 enough time to settle before digging into it, or if it's worth leaving the other two games on the shelf for the meantime.
