Graduated in 2010. Only took 7 years and they weren't even married until like 2013 so lmao. But honestly it's a damn shame cause they have 2 kids.

Don't get married, kids. 1 in 2 chances it will fail. The only plus is the tax benefits which don't make up for the negatives if it fails.

You can't break down marriage failure odds into a coin flip. It has so many factors, including primarily the maturity of the people within and the reason for getting married. It's not anywhere near as simple as "heads you stay married, tails she takes all your money, don't risk it!!!"

There's definitely a higher chance for failing marriages these days, but I think a large part of the problem is getting married at a young age *and* only being together for a <5 years to begin with. Many cases only being together less than 2 or 3 years.

In you're example, they got married at what--- 21? 22? And started having kids right away? How depressing is that?

She did. Got tired of him having to move around for the military. He was supposed to quit (or however getting out of the military works) after last year but he signed on for more years because she wanted him to go to college and he didn't want to.

something like that

I graduated in 2001, and the number of divorces from my graduating class so far is I don't have direct contact with anyone from my graduating class and of the few people from it that I'm facebook friends with, none are people that I've actually even looked at their profiles or statuses or whatever would have information like that

Wow. This seems like a classic example of someone trying to start a family way too early. They graduated HS in 2010? So they got married shortly after turning 21 or so? Too young man, too young.

I've heard this before, and my question is, where the heck are these other women? Are these deployments just hanging out on these big bases that are like towns?

Cuz it's like I don't imagine guys doing patrols in Afghanistan having many suitable women around...

I can understand why she did it. That's a selfish move of him to do and a massive commitment to make.

Huh, interesting. Well that further justifies my belief that people in the military should tend to avoid starting families and serious relationships until they are completely out of it. Obviously not possible in all cases, but I think the military tries to represent itself as being "family friendly" when it is inherently the opposite of that.

I wouldn't "calculate" whether it was a good idea to marry someone. I'd use my brain.

I graduated in 2000. Divorces, deaths, convicted murderer. But you know what the worst is? There's a guy my age in my graduating class that already has a grandkid now. His own kid was born between 8th and 9th grade in 1996 so they would be 21 now.

That's rough. I'm a 2001 grad as well, small class (32 graduating class!) so I've kept up with most of them... off the top of my head... I can think of 6. One of my buddies just went through his second one. :o and another friend... could work it out, but I know he and his wife are not getting along well at all.

How long were they together

If a couple has been together for like 6+ years then marriage is pretty justified

That seems like too long to me. Wouldn't you know if someone was "the one" after like 3 years? If you don't feel that way by then both of you are just wasting your time by staying together

Someone I knew from high school had a kid in college, got married, then divorced a year later.

He went total red pill after that.

Not necessarily. There are a lot of things that can cause people to wait to get married. Jobs, money, family situations, etc. can make two people who seem perfect for each other wait a while before getting married.

And "the one" is a bunk concept in the first place.

35 year old grandpa. Astounding. Great grandpa by early 50? Great great grandpa by 70? Could possibly set a record by 80 or 90 if he lives that long

I would say "swoop in and bang her for the lulz", but having to be with her kids and stuff is too much responsibility. I mean if you see her at a bar or something, then swooze right in and get it on, but otherwise just like her fb status with a crying emoji or w/e

When stationed at home those in service receives benefits for being married (namely housing instead of shit barracks)

Guys get that and the freedom to mess around when deployed- and the wives get to be dependas.

Its tempting and makes for sham marriages.

I wound up going to three high schools, so I really can't be bothered with keeping up with everybody. My first high school was a small enough class (77 people) that I could probably keep up with all of them, if I had a reason to.
