Pretty much this. It's great if you want an easy, low stakes game you can relax too. It's a major time eater though.

When you say it's a major time eater, do you mean that it's like Animal Crossing, where you HAVE to play a lot or your town will go into disarray?

No. It's a time eater because there's always something to be doing (but you never HAVE to do it).

I always assume there's a good story behind holding a job for such a short period of time but it's usually just "Showed up, hated the job, quit".

No good story. I worked one day, and was told they'll tell me when there's work again. They never scheduled me to work for two weeks. I called and they said sorry, we don't have any work for you. They valet for events like weddings and stuff.

PC strategy games come in all shapes and forms. It is a city builder at heart, but what sets it apart is that the core gameplay is about the logistics of resources to build and maintain cities. It sounds boring, but it's really fun, and there's nothing quite like it.

It's also known as Anno 1404, the 4th in the series and it's very refined compared to its predecessors. It's considered the strongest in the series for that reason, also because that the successor Anno series (Anno 2070, 2205) have been Ubisoft'd. That said, Anno 2070 is actually pretty good too, but Anno 2205 is irredeemable.

The most remarkable show that's under 7.0 on MAL in my opinion, is Mayoiga. It sits at a 5.8 because a lot of people didn't take too kindly to being trolled hard. It's a feeling I'm probably never going to experience again in anime.

I agree with both sentiment. Kimi no na wa's characters and plots are shallow, but it's still a cinematic masterpiece. It's no so much amnesia or time travel; They don't retain their experiences because it just felt like a dream to them. They don't time travel, it's shinto magic (explained by grandma) that connects everyone together

So twitch has been marathoning anime from crunchyroll. There used to be 3 or so adbreaks out of no where in an episode, but now it's down to 1 or 2, but they still seem abrupt even if they aren't interrupting conversations now.

You need to consider that most anime are made without english audience in mind. I'm guessing like 70% of anime either have a title that doesn't translate into english (FLCL, Yuru Yuri), or is already english (Cowboy Bebop, One Punch Man). The ones that do get an official english title are either have to reach mainstream, or translated/named so by fans because the japanese title is too damn long. Naturally, this gives rise to just calling anime by their japanese titles because you can't go wrong and it's been there at the start.

Also, people discuss anime among anime fans as per usual as opposed to with non anime fans, so no one gives a shit if you use the japanese or english title; we're all weebs.

Finished first half of Little Witch Academia. I enjoyed the earlier episodes as they are great but self contained. The underlying plot doesn't pick up until episode 11. Which isn't bad but it might turn off casuals who want a bigger picture and don't like slice of life. I like the new opener for he second half and from the first little clip of the Professor it looks like this is where things start to pick up.

I loved the episode where Sucy overdoses on mushrooms, and Akko goes inside her mind. Now that was an adventure

Clannad, Steins;Gate, Fate/stay night, and Higurashi are all acclaimed anime adaptations of VN. You should experience at least one of them before watching the anime version to grasp firsthand the strengths of the VN medium.

There's also a trend of VN that have unsuccessful adaptations due to the difficulty of adapting VN and/or the ineptitude of their producers. This probably plays a part in why other successful VN don't get an anime adaptation.

If there's one more recommendation, it's Saya no Uta, with writer Gen Urobuchi (famed for Madoka, Psycho-pass, and fate/zero). It's a very short VN. It's disturbing, depraved, and it tells a story that you really can't find in otakudom.

That boat fight was kinda dumb, it was too comical with Euron riding the boarding plank and smashing a dude, then getting wounded like 10 times and acts like nothing happened.

I do admit it's a bit over the top, but consider these two things.

All mediums have pros and cons. Visual Novels are more akin to books than manga or anime. IMO, what they offer that other mediums don't, is that they have immersive audio/visual experience similar to anime, but prose akin to books. You really get into the heads of characters and detailing ideas, which anime/manga don't have time for.

It's fine to not like visual novels. I don't read books because I'm not inclined to read books, but I'm not saying books have no merits. You have to consider that visual novels and light novels are geared specifically for Otaku.



On another page, the Persona series is pretty unique, it's very much a game, but also very much a visual novel. This makes me think about Mass Effect series differently too, as it certainly has aspects of visual novels.

I loved SIgur Ros' cameo. Their music gets a lot of complaints for being boring and repetitive, so their cameo was super fitting.

Oh god, The Reflection was truly something else.

cool, bad, bad, bad, bad, ha!, bad, bad.

The first episode of it aired today, and I was looking forward to see what this had because Stan Lee is collaborating with this. I can't recall another first episode as atrocious as this. Dude should just stick with cameos, and I'd much much rather watch any western superhero cartoons over this.

Aesthetic is neat. That's the only thing going for it. The actual animation feels on par with amateur flash animation. It really lacks fluidity, and has nothing meritable aside from it's aesthetic. I'd say about 1 in 5 animation cuts doesn't feel terrible. 1/3rd through the episode, I sped up the playback to 1.25x normal speed, and it still feels a tad slow. Also, there's a whole lot of fat chewing with lingering shots which is fine if there's something cinematic, but here they're wasting seconds holding the camera on uninteresting shots with nothing for you to think about.

Premise has nothing interesting, which would be acceptable if everything else was at least mediocre. I don't even care to see if it gets interesting because the feel of the show is just so terrible.

Persona 3 can be unforgiving (e.g. instant kills on your main character are automatic Game Over). The vanilla version (PS2) does not have the Easy level, IIRC, but P3P (PSP) was designed to be more user-friendly, anyway.
