its more of a price problem.... ostrich meat would be more expensive than buffalo meat which happens to be more expensive then beef. no commoner would be able to afford it.

Supply and demand

If the demand for Ostrich meat was as high as the demand for Beef, we would be farming it all over and it would be little more than beef.

It's only so expensive because so few eat it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

That's Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles in Europe.

The foot clan are suspected of potentially targeting you and 3 other people as your rare blood type + Brainwave pattern could power up Shredder's new doomsday machine if conducted during the Eclispe tonight. In order to keep you all safe Splinter has decided to delegate one turtle to guard each person for the day.

And you get to choose which you want.

For those who don't know who the turtles are, here's a quick run down:

Leonardo leads.
Donatello does machines.
Raphael is cool but rude
Michelangelo is a party dude

Ostrich

Ostrich meat is literally one of the most healthy red meats in the world. Extremely high in protein, low in fat, calories, and cholesterol but high in Iron.

It's literally more healthy than chicken.

On top of all that, it's meat tastes like beef. So basically Ostrich is the same as cow meat in terms of flavor but twice as healthy.

If the entirity of America switched from eating beef to eating Ostrich we'd put a massive dent in the obesity problem inside a decade.

You make good points. Do you think there's no reason at all to ever remove a statue or monument(assuming it's not damaged or something?)

Yeah if it's a hazard and about to fall down or something.

Or if there is some reason why it's super inconvient. Like if they were building a hospital and statue blocked a direct road to it. Or there was a huge pile of oil directly under the statue.

You need something to justify destroying the history and "I dont like that history" is just not good enough

Also, do you feel the same about how we added In God we trust to money after WW2 due to communism scare? I'm guessing you do.

Yes although that's a completely different situation.

And I agree completely that if they are going to remove the statues it shouldn't be done through mob rule and non majority agreement.

Problem is while magority agreement is better than mob rule it still doesn't justify much. Don't forget the Nazis had majority agreement.

It's not really about hurt feelings in all situations right?

Cities and people are just reanalyzing the reasons why they initially put up those statues, and they're realizing those reasons weren't good, so they're changing.

That's a reason to not erect new statues of history you don't like and not create new art of history you dislike. Today.

Not "changing" history to replace things you don't like with things you do. That's the part you intentionally pretend not to understand.

I would have no issue with a collective shift in society going from Christian and Atheist and no longer having Crucifixes everywhere. But I would utterly oppose them "Realizing the reasons werent good." and running around knocking down Christian monuments and cross gravestones to "Change" them

And this is before you even touch upon the fact most of these "changes" aren't even being done with majority or in many cases Government approval. Just mobs of angry people who don't like parts of history so they destroy it.

That is a bad thing, not something to be protected with honeyed words and doublethink.

TIL: moving statues to a museum is destroying history,

For starters, yes it is.

Removing monuments is destroying history, even if put them somewhere else, you still removed them.

You woudn't be singing the same tune if Russia took the Statue of liberty down and said "Oh don't worry we're putting it in Nikolai's shed over there. It's not destroyed."

Several of the books the Nazis destroyed still exist with some copies, there are documents and photos Stalin and the Soviets didn't succeed in altering, some knowledge from the library of Alexandria lived on.

It's still destroying history.

For two, most of the statues being torn down now on a daily basis across America are not being moved, they are being flat out oblierated.

Your defense is asinine and a lazy pedantic evasion of the point raised at you.

Because destroying history always ends badly for society and if you actually looked at history instead of destroying it, you'd realize the people who advocate the destrution of history are the worst people.

The Nazis, the Islamic State, Stalin, The Mad Kings/Rulers of Europe, the Barbarian Hordes. Even Donald Trump is on that list.

Boko Haram literally means Western Education is a sin and they want to eradicate from history.

And you're throwing your hat in with them going "I AGREE WITH ALL THOSE GUYS!"

Once you tell people it's okay to destroy history that you don't like, you can no longer be surprised when they destroy history that you DO like. It always ends badly.

Do you really find it so incredulous that someone would assume a modern liberal (or even conservative, for that matter) holds inconsistent standards? It's not an issue of being simple-minded. It's an issue of people not applying their internal logic to other opinions to see if it holds up or if they're just parroting talking points.

Moral relativism is stupid.

There were slavery absolutionists during the Roman Empire.

"Well it was past" isn't a defense of horrible attitudes.

What matters is how you justifiy and explain your attitude. If you've reached the conclusion with sound logic and pragmatism, odds are your views are going to be great or at least coherant no matter what the time period is.

Going "Well lots of people were dicks back then so it's okay" is no more of a defense than it is now to justify horribleness.

TopicReport: Hillary Clinton may become Methodist Christian Lay Preacher
UnfairRepresent
08/22/17 12:46:04 PM
#1
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reportedly wants to preach her Methodist faith in an informal capacity. Clinton's longtime pastor revealed the former Democratic nominee's religious ambitions while promoting a book containing the scriptures he sent her during the 2016 presidential race.

On Aug. 6, Methodist pastor Bill Shillady of the United Methodist City Society disclosed that Clinton had told him of her desire to preach during her presidential campaign. Shillady asserted that Clinton would "make a great pastor."

The Clinton confidant clarified that the former first lady was unlikely to pursue becoming a deaconess.

"I think it would be more of ... her guest preaching at some point," Shillady said. "We have a long history of lay preachers in the United Methodist Church." Shillady is set to publish a book containing the daily devotionals that he had sent Clinton during her presidential campaign, titled "Strong for a Moment Like This."

"I do not believe that she encouraged me to write this book in any way to change the image of her," Shillady added.

Clinton became deeply involved in Bible study and the First United Methodist Church during her childhood in Park Ridge, Illinois. The future secretary of state was strongly influenced by Methodist youth minister Don Jones.

"[Jones] took Hillary and the youth group into the slums of Chicago, had them interact with poor blacks and Puerto Ricans, and brought them to hear [Martin Luther King Jr.] preach," history professor William Chafe of Duke University told PolitiFact.

Clinton later attributed Jones' religious teachings to her conversion from a Goldwater Republican to a Democrat.

While Clinton's religious life is well-documented, a large portion of the general public has been skeptical of her religiosity. In January 2016, a Pew Research Center poll found that 48 percent of national adults viewed Clinton as religious while 43 percent did not.

Professor Kristin Du Mez of Calvin College, a Clinton biographer, said it was "baffling to me that so many other Americans not only didn't know she was Methodist, but didn't accept that she was Christian."

Clinton fared poorly among Christian voters during the 2016 presidential election. Based on 2016 exit polling, Pew found that only 39 percent of Protestants voted for Clinton while 58 percent voted for President Donald Trump. Among Catholics, 45 percent voted for Clinton while 52 percent sided with Trump.

White evangelicals were the biggest boosters of Trump, with 81 percent casting a vote for him and only 16 percent preferring Clinton.

In October 2016, Ed Stetzer, executive director of the Billy Graham Center for Evangelism explained that the majority of evangelicals doubted Clinton's religiosity because she supported abortion rights and was a vocal feminist.

Mark Tooley, president of the conservative think tank Religion and Democracy, asserted that Clinton's political critics crossed a line when they questioned her Methodist faith.

"Too often conservatives have been too dismissive of her religious beliefs, which are sincere," Tooley said. "She was shaped by the church and is still committed to it, and you can't understand her political framework without understanding her Methodist background."

Kendall Jenner sparked some controversy on Twitter for her use of an emoji.

The 21-year-old supermodel took to Twitter to celebrate the cover of The Hollywood Reporter, which features her, her sister Kylie Jenner, her mother Kris Jenner and her half-sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, the Daily Mail reported. The cover celebrated 10 years of the hit reality television show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" on E!

"Sister power...girl power," Kendall tweeted, adding a tanned fist bump emoji. The choice of emoji had some Twitter users accusing the model of once again attempting to appropriate black culture.

Many fans defended Kendall and the Kardashians. "Her sisters are Armenian... she has a right to use that emoji just as we all do," wrote one Twitter user. "The tone she used it literally called medium... not black!"

"Can everyone like calm down with the hand thing it is an emoji so what if it is a different colour like who cares," wrote another. "Legit cannot believe the comments on this people are so stupid and ridiculous legit shut up what has she ever done to you," added another user.

Kendall did not respond to the accusations. In the magazine interview, Kim revealed that it isn't unlike Kendall to keep her emotions private. She spoke about how the widespread criticism over her controversial Pepsi commercial affected her half-sister behind the scenes.

"We're not perfect, but you see these things in the media, like Kendall and her Pepsi ad, where I see her at home crying," Kim told the magazine. "But in the media she looks another way because she's not addressing it."

"I'm the most private one. If there's a moment I don't want anyone to hear, I talk to myself or talk to someone in another room," Kendall added.

Kim revealed that she tried encouraging Kendall to speak out after the backlash, or to at least allow E! to use emotional scenes on the show.

"I'm just like, 'This is wrong. You need to speak up.' She [Kendall] was like, 'I don't ever want to show that footage of me crying,'" Kim explained. "She was trying to not make excuses or be dramatic, but that was what she was going through at the time."

"There are moments when it's hard to leave something in because it's vulnerable and it exposes us to a deeper level of emotion, and sometimes that's hard to share," Kris added.

The Pepsi ad was pulled within 24 hours of its premiere in April after facing severe scrutiny for trivializing Black Lives Matter demonstrations.

TopicTV Show requests couples to show teens what real sex looks like.

National broadcaster NRK’s P3 channel will be debuting a show in November aimed at giving teenagers a healthier relationship with their own bodies and sexual desires.
The programme, ‘Line fikser kroppen’ (Line fixes her body), will feature host Line Elvsåshagen taking on issues like body positivity and unrealistic expectations for sex.

Elvsåshagen recently starred in the reality TV show ‘Line dater Norge’ (Line dates Norway), in which she travelled across the country in search of the perfect man, with help from her 130,000-plus followers on Instagram.

P3’s editorial director said the new Elvsåshagen programme will offer a counter narrative to the way sex and the female body are portrayed in porn.

“Just showing surgically-enhanced bodies and overly-choreagrophed sex creates false hopes and misperceptions. We hope that by showing sex in its entirety, rather than just merely as penetration, we can provide the target group with the right approach,” Håkon Moslet.

This will be done in part by showing regular people having actual sex.

As part of P3’s attempt to reach its target group of 17-year-old girls, the channel has been searching for couples who are willing to engage in intimate acts in front of the rolling cameras.

“The idea is not to show sexual organs in action but rather to move away from a glorified image and show that sex is a nice and intimate situation that can often be a bit clumsy without being dangerous,” Elvsåshagen said.

P3 has been reaching out to blogs and hanging posters throughout the country in an effort to recruit couples willing to have sex for the show. Moslet said that there have already been a number of couples expressing their willingness to participate.

Norwegian television has a history of approaching sex in a straightforward manner that would be unthinkable in other parts of the world. The children’s science programme ‘Newton’ received international attention in 2015 after Facebook censored a clip showing presenter Line Jansrud drawing female sexual organs on the naked body of her assistant.

Other episodes of the popular programme’s series on puberty featured Jansrud demonstrating how to use half a tomato to practice kissing and using rubber models to show how masturbation and penetrative sex work.

Even the wildly popular Norwegian TV series Skam faced initial resistance from foreign buyers who were put off by the show’s frank approach to sex and excessive drinking.

I like how no care or attention at all is put into how men are depicted in porn or how porn affects men, just women.

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg has come in for sharp criticism after being quoted as saying the Nazis and the extreme left had “much in common”.

The comments by Solberg were published by the Dagbladet newspaper on August 11th in response to a neo-Nazi demonstration in Kristiansand – not to last weekend’s events in Charlottesville, USA in which a woman was killed by a far right demonstrator.

US President Donald Trump was widely criticised by both Democrats and members of the Republican party for seeking to draw a parallel between Nazi demonstrators in Charlottesville and left wing counter protesters including the Antifa group.

Taken in the overall context of the Dagbladet article, Solberg’s comments are intended to support her position that the government would fight all kinds of extremism. “Right wing extremists and neo-Nazis have a lot in common with the extreme left or religious extremism. They seek to whip up hate, division and conflict within Norwegian society,” Solberg wrote.

The comments have been strongly criticised by some of Norway’s left-wing politicians. Snorre Valen of the Socialist Left Party (Sosialistisk Venstreparti) called Solberg’s comments “completely irresponsible and amateur” in a post on Twitter. The PM should condemn Nazism clearly, Valen wrote.

“When uniformed Nazis are marching in our streets, Norwegian Jews and gay people are *actually* threatened. This is not an academic debate,” the MP wrote.

Valen cited the response by Republicans to Trump’s statements on the US extreme right in his criticism of Solberg.

“We need you to say ‘we’ve fought Nazism before and we’ll fight it again’, not weak distractions like ‘the others are also bad’," he wrote. In a tweet posted in response to Valen, Solberg cited violence by protesters at July’s G20 summit in Hamburg as an example of left wing extremism

Bjørnar Moxnes, leader of the far-left Red Party, which does not hold any seats in parliament, said Solberg should apologise for her comments.

“This is bringing Trump rhetoric into the Norwegian election campaign. Being extreme against racism is not the same as wanting to wipe out minorities. I think it is harsh, provocative and disappointing that Solberg makes this kind of comparison,” Moxnes told NRK.

“It should be quite easy to condemn terror by neo-Nazis and jihadists without bringing up us on the far left,” he added.

The Red leader said that his party “naturally rejects terror of any kind”.

Solberg’s Høyre (Conservative) party colleague Henrik Asheim called the parallels drawn by the opposition parties a “nadir”.

“It’s disappointing that otherwise sincere politicians such as Snorre Valen are bringing themselves down to this level in the election campaign. It is completely uncontroversial to point out common characteristics between right wing extremists and left wing radicals in this context,” he said to NRK.

“I think that the Red Party, the Socialist Left and voters can all see that it is weak to compare Erna Solberg, who is running an election campaign from Bergen, with Donald Trump in the USA,” he added.

It's interesting that European politicians use Trump being compared to Trump politics as an insult.

You'd think that would be bad for relations. It's hard to imagine France going "We don't need that Obama Rhetoric here!" 7 years ago.

Depends on whether or not the characters casting the spell called it a punishment or not, I suppose.

They didn't "call it" a punishment but they were clearly humiliating the guys because they were being overbearing

That is a punishment

This story is as stupid as that time people got upset with Obama over saying "We tortured some folks."

I disagree.

It was bad of Obama to be so flippant about America torturing people.

I'll take a president who is flippant about people we tortured previously over one that says "I'd bring back waterboarding and a whole lot worse." and then also lies about military operations that kill us military forces for no fucking reason.

It's literally Benghazi 2.0 except in the ocean and this time it's the president's fault and not a figurehead Secretary of State.

Good for you but in my eyes "Well this guy isn't as bad as that guy!" isn't a defense.

I'm against torture sure so I am biased but even those who are pro-torture cannot downplay it by being so flippantly childish as if it doesn't matter. That's horrible.
