Arguably it's the same reason Fantasia got a sequel in spite of it being seen as a phenomenal failure when it was released (though that one's a bit more muddled because it got re-released multiple times and sort of became a cult favorite mostly because Walt Disney himself loved it so much).

Fantasia's initial release was a flop, but subsequent releases fared much better because there wasn't a planet-consuming war raging at the time. Adjusted for inflation, it's the 22nd-highest grossing movie of all time, so it's hardly been a failure in the long run. I actually attribute The Nutcracker's popularity to it, since that only really took off a couple years after the first rerelease (it's even said in the movie that nobody really performs it).

Fantasia 2000 was also one of the first IMAX films, and it makes sense that Disney would go with a movie that's basically musical eye candy as their first foray into the world of fancy-looking movie presentations.

Sometimes suicide is a viable solution.

Not really. Suicide doesn't solve problems, it just makes them go away at the cost of literally everything else. When there really is nothing else left and the problem truly can't be solved, go for it, but until then, actually solving the problem (or finding value in life) is a much better option. Given that suicide isn't something you can take back, aggressive, forcible intervention into any suicide attempts is reasonable until such a time as it's been determined to be a sound-minded decision.

Basically, while you're not wrong about the whole right to die thing, stop trying to get strangers on the internet to validate your suicidal thoughts. That's the depression talking, not a legitimate reason to die, and you and everyone around you will be far happier if you seek treatment for that rather than killing yourself. Nothing is wrong with you that can't be fixed, and your life is worth living.

The problem is that the vast majority of suicidal inclinations are based on treatable issues. A decision to die made by somebody of completely sound mind should be respected, yes, but if you can take away whatever it is that's making them want to die, that's a far better option.

That's basically the crux of the sentence. It can be hard to say with suicidal people, which is why outcomes like this aren't particularly common, but it does ultimately come down to that. In this particular case, especially where he was chickening out and she encouraged him to stick with it, there's reasonable cause to believe he would have survived without her interference, so she's been found responsible. Putting aside the obvious answer of "actually meet people," temper your standards for "interesting." You don't need somebody that impresses you with how fascinating and extraordinary the things they do are. In fact, that's a terrible thing to look for, simply because basing your relationship and interest on that is going to mean you'll lose interest if they drift away from doing those things, or if the novelty wears off. Instead, just find somebody you have fun with.

Of course, that also means relaxing your idea of "fun" such that you don't need to be profoundly stimulated at all times in order to have fun. Having high standards for fun is just silly in general.

That doesn't mean much in celebrity cases, simply because they're so high-profile. I quite agree that being a celebrity doesn't make him any more deserving of a not guilty verdict than anyone else in his position, but the straight numbers game you're trying to play here isn't as conclusive as you seem to think.

Competing against themselves

Which just makes sense, really. There's a delicate balance to be struck between continuing to profit off of the established install base to maintain a revenue stream, and putting things exclusively on the newer system to convince people to buy it. That's not to say one can't focus too much on older systems and kill the new ones by neglecting them, but it is standard these days to continue releasing games for older consoles for a couple years after their succession, so this isn't surprising.

It does also remain to be seen how well the Switch will succeed the 3DS. It's simply not as portable, however you look at it, so there may yet be a niche for a DS-like system that's more pocket-friendly. I understand Nintendo keeping their options open, even if the 3DS is quietly dying out in favour of the Switch, simply because it's hard to say whether or not it will truly be a successor.

helIy posted...
replace wii u with switch and the sentence is just as valid, too, btw.

If the Switch has nothing else on it, sure. That's not the case, though (or at least won't be moving forward). They may not have wanted to buy a system for three games they wanted, but six or ten may be another story. Populating the Switch's entire library with WiiU ports would be silly, yes, but they aren't doing that. They're just bolstering the library with ports of games that many people did miss out on.

That, and most of the games they're porting are ones that focus on local multiplayer, which is one of the big things they're trying to push with the Switch. A big goal of these ports is to let people take Mario Kart and Pokken Tournament on the go and play with their friends anywhere.

Not really. The WiiU sold horribly, and had a number of high-profile games on it that made many people say "I want to play that, but I'm not buying a system just for it." Interspersing the Switch's own releases with ports of those WiiU games takes relatively little effort, while allowing for a greater return on the investment already made on them and enticing people who are on the fence about a Switch into getting one (since having many of the games they considered a WiiU for in addition to the new attractions is going to be pretty attractive). It makes sense, even if those of us who have a WiiU aren't exactly rushing out to buy the ports.

It's as BS as transgenderism, you can take that either way.

Except for the part where gender identity is a pretty easy concept to understand (do you have to double-check what's in your pants to feel like a man?), and therefore the concept of identifying as a different gender is pretty plausible. Inanimate objects and non-sentient creatures, however, don't have identities in the human sense, making the concept of identifying as them notably less than plausible.

Otherkin is about as much of a joke as transgenderism, Non-binaryism and alt-genderisms are.

I sexually identify as a tank.
