These days however, I've pretty much lost both patience and faith, and aside from being good at my job and my hobbies, I honestly feel no motivation to connect with people at this point. I feel like it's no use, as the average person apparently looks no further than the occasional controversial headline on social media, let alone consider the fact that what happens today can significantly impact what happens in a few years, or even decades from now. Time was already pressing before, but now that Trump got elected, the Reps have a majority in the House, Senate and SCOTUS, on top of more and more countries being governed by populistic rightwing parties and autocrats, and oil states blocking pretty much any real global progress at climate summits, I honestly fear that any progress to halt climate change will be too slow and insufficient to prevent a temperature rise that will make a lot of the world uninhabitable. People think immigration is a problem now? Wait a few decades until the equator becomes too hot to survive in, and coastal regions everywhere become flooded due to melting polar caps. Been depressed ever since he won since not only are the threats of violence and retribution being amplified in celebration, the opposition has turned on itself and everyone apart of it on each other swearing never to support anybody ever again only protecting themselves as much as they can, as if they know they're all gonna go down under Trump and are more content fighting to the last than stomach working with others anymore they can no longer trust and the media is not only bowing down surprisingly quickly but they're walking things they said about Trump for years now. I've been feeling like this as well. Things weren't looking too great already (both in the U.S. and on an average global scale), but I sincerely had hope that humanity might persevere enough to make the longterm future not too terrible. However, the Reps' victory as well as the fossil fuels circlejerk currently going on at the UN Climate Conference pretty much solidified the feeling that humanity has passed a point of no return. There'll probably be non-populistic / non-dictator governments in the U.S. and other influentual countries again in the future, but I honestly think it will be too little too late, and that humanity is stuck on a downward spiral from here on out. Most nations weren't doing enough already, but recent/current events (no pun intended) have only accelerated that descent. So far I'm coping by not following the news as actively and just focus on my job and taking care of my cats. I have expressed my pessimistic thoughts here and there, but it's painfully difficult to find people who are educated and/or informed enough realize the gravity of the situation, or at least understand why I and others feel depressed about this. --- One time, CE triggered me so hard with their objectively wrong opinions that I accidentally punched myself in the balls. |

Personally I won't suffer any direct consequences from this, but I realize all too well how tough things are gonna get for a lot of Americans, as well as how much influence the U.S. government has on the rest of the world, and how much it can affect other countries. This on top of how more and more countries have been electing populistic right-wing parties into government (the Netherlands included) pretty much leaves me in a sense of hopelessness, unable to even feel angry or trying to understand the thought processes of people who voted them into power to such extents. I remember and followed how things were during the first Trump presidency, and how I felt about that. Considering this time the circumstances are more dire and Trump himself knowing what to expect and do as POTUS this time, I think it's best if I significantly cut back on following the news, for the sake of mental self-preservation. That includes keeping up with CE. I always found it annoying and even somewhat stress-inducing how this board is dominated with topics about Trump and his buddies in the months leading up to the election, and I was hoping that would die down a bit if Harris would've won, but now I guess CE will be stuck doing that for the next four years (if Fandom even keeps this place running for that long). Sorry for the wall of text. I guess I just had to get that out. Dont get me wrong I like Mad Max 2 but none of the older Mad Max films come even close to the quality of Fury Road. Fury Road is one of the greatest action movies of all time and blows away all the previous movies by a lot. At first the universal status quo was that The Road Warrior was the best one, but Fury Road was so just so amazing that most people seem to agree that's the best one now. At that point the concept wasn't quite 'full-blown post-apocalyptic dystopia' yet, but specifically 'when the gangs take over the road. It might as well take place in some town in the middle of nowhere during the pre-internet days. Still worth watching if you intend to watch the rest as well.
