No. Although there are a lot of problems going on which have been building up for many years, Trump getting elected for the second time along with COP29 ending up being an oil state circlejerk and right-wing populism gaining ground all over the world made me realize too much damage has been done to realistically recover from before the world becomes uninhabitable for most of humanity.
It basically pushed me into an alcohol-binged depression.

I do manage to make enough of an effort to keep on working, take care of my cats, and I intend to keep voting progressively whenever I can, but I lost pretty much all motivation to make something of my life (in terms of dating, career, home improvement etc).

I'm currently in the process of getting therapy. I know that realistically I won't be able to change anything about the world's problems, but I'm hoping therapy might be able to help me change my perspective, that it's still worth the effort to make something of my life.

Imo MGS4 relies way too much on callbacks and memberberries, even if it was meant to finish the main storylines. Not to mention that the storytelling felt like it was trying to come off as overly profound and over the top. It was just like watching one of my Japanese animes.

I did enjoy replaying the first two acts, especially the gameplay surrounding the ongoing battles, and how you can choose to influence them or to ignore and avoid them. It is pretty baffling how that part of the gameplay is completely dropped after Act 2.
After that, it just feels like going from A to B, with maybe a bossfight here and there, and SO. MANY. HOURS. OF. CUTSCENES. INBETWEEN.

Ultimately, I did like some things about it, but for the most part I did not like it enough to give it a thumbs up.

Not great. In the months following the POTUS election I was basically drinking on a near-daily basis, on one had because of Trump and non-dictator world leaders kowtowing to whatever he says.
On the other hand it's because of how the environment is being flushed down the drain. Sure, efforts are being made, but it's like swimming against a tidal wave with people consuming more and more, COP29 being little more than an oil state circlejerk, and right-wing governments cutting and cancelling any meaningful pro-climate implementations.

I manage to keep on working and doing the bare necessities to take care of myself, but pretty much lost hope, and stopped making something of my life (i.e. career, dating, home improvement etc).

I'm in the process of getting therapy (I'm saying "in the process", it's taken almost half a year to even set up an intake appointment). I know it's unrealistic to do anything meaningful to change the world, so I figure my best bet is a change in pespective, to reach some kind of conviction that it is worth it to make something of my life.

It's Windows 10 with a newer interface and the ability, eventually, to use parts that are not compatible with Windows 10. That's pretty much it. By the time we actually notice these things, Windows 12 will be out.

Honestly, most people won't even be aware of such things by the time Windows 13 comes around (which definitely won't actually be called Windows 13).

The fact that a lot of Windows 10-capable computers could technically run Windows 11, but Microsoft decided that the minimum requirements for 11 are so noticeably (and unnecessarily) specific should give the somewhat-good-with-computers crowd some clue.
This is especially the case for computers that are only lacking the requirement of TPM 2.0.

I won't stop other people from using it. Honestly up until a few years ago I was never really that bothered with Windows upgrades, but I find I've been becoming more conscious (and probably a little paranoid) over my digital footprint as time goes by.
Besides, I've been looking for a personal digital project to focus on. Switching to Linux seem like a good avenue to explore, and so far, I've encountered no real downsides.

W11 still has Recall installed by default (even if disabled) which bricks the OS choice. Completely unusable. Also doesn't help that they tried to make their interface more Apple-like but without doing a complete cutover, and still force you to use their old style menus at times and everything takes more clicks now than they did before with how they shortened menus.

I have to use this garbage at work but I'll never use it at home

This, along with Windows making their interface more 'user-friendly' (i.e. hiding/removing configurable settings) with every upgrade has made me decide to switch to Linux. I'm currently reading up on how to work with it and testing it in a virtual box.

So far I haven't really run into any problems. I was somewhat hesitant about game compatibility, but it looks like the vast majority of my PC games will work just fine on Linux (including a lot of older re-released games), according to websites like ProtonDB and WineHQ.

A lot of computers could hypothetically run Windows 11 just fine, even if they don't meet every requirement stated by Windows. In the case of many computers, Windows will say the computer can't be upgraded to 11 because it's not capable of running TPM 2.0. If that's the only issue, technically the computer could totally handle Windows 11. It's just that Windows has decided on those very specific requirements (probably so that people buy more computers and Windows licenses).

I highly recommend watching this video before spending money on a new computer:
