oh. well that's fair, i don't think people realize her influence, that movie's influence, or nuance of TV back then. like you hear it in passing, see the extra media that came out of it - Wicked especially - and have a general idea but it's kind of a tired line. but that would put her with not just influence in movies, musicals, horror, depictions of witches, and the timespan is def long enough.

It's true it's the kind of thing that's so monolithic and with an "it's always been that way" characteristic that people forget just where it originated from.

The only reason I don't put Frankenstein's Monster on mine though is I think him being green varies too much, it's not always a consistent portrayal.

I know and agree with all of that and that's why I'm shocked I'm the only vote for her yet!

only 2 i'd say have to be here due to cultural impact and continued legacy. most other green characters are there for a generation or two maybe, those two have 50 years of relevancy.

The chorus is definitely Alanis' point of view. The groomer is clearly requesting the silence as to not get caught. Great subtle shift in the second chorus where Alanis adds the word "more" to the line, so simple but effective in showing just how much trauma she's suppressed because of this absolutely vile POS.

What's the line? Again, I think there's quite a bit of overlap.

Zen calls them myths in the topic title, even.

So just wanted to address this real quick, to me a myth is something universally proven to be untrue while an urban legend has a kernel of truth to it that makes it more believable. Like I said it's a really fine line but I think there's a difference nonetheless.
