Rounding out the list:

#11: Velocity
#12: Wrestling Challenge
#13: Shotgun Saturday Night/Shotgun
#14: Superstars (modern version)
#15: Jakked/Metal
#16: Action Zone

I decided ranking shows that were purely recaps/newsmagazines was too difficult so I kept it to shows with original first-run matches.

So then if ECW is #6, then I would put the rest of the Top Ten as:

#7: Prime Time Wrestling
#8: All-Star Wrestling
#9: All-American Wrestling
#10: NXT

Velocity just misses the cut!

You know, you bring up a solid point there with Halftime Heat. Still a canon episode! That solidifies Heat in the #5 spot even further.

And yeah I guess I'm counting the internet as "televised" so long as it's still weekly. Heck, the final 3 years of Heat were online.

NXT would probably beat out ECW but the run was pretty short. If you put NXT vs like any given 6 months of ECW I think it wins too though.

Season One of NXT was more relevant than, say, the final couple years of ECW, but I would take any period of ECW over any other season of NXT.

And you guys are really underselling ECW's first year. It was Vince McMahon's home show for goodness sakes!

The only reason I'm gonna let you guys win this vote without a fight is because Heat lasted 10 years and ECW didn't even make it to 4. I still disagree, but not so vehemently that I want to die on this hill.

So then we have
Raw
SD
Championship Wrestling
Superstars (original)
Heat

NOW can we put ECW at #6, or am I gonna have to win a fight against Shotgun Saturday Night?

Good call. I could see leaving that out if he wasn't involved in the decision (because then it's not really a great showcase of John Cena which seems to be the main criteria here), but he won the damn thing!

The biggest news storyline-wise was Triple H's heel turn on Shawn Michaels. Shawn was so offended by his best friend turning on him that he's going to return to the ring, one last time, in an unsanctioned match to get revenge on Triple H!

For the first time in over four years, the Heartbreak Kid will step into the squared circle, but will he ever be the same?!

In the free agent period now where people can switch shows at will, the Un-Americans jumped from SmackDown to Raw, taking the Tag Team Titles with them!

Eric Bischoff decided that the European Championship was no longer needed and had a match between IC Champ RVD and Euro Champ Jeff Hardy with both belts on the line to unify Euro into IC. RVD won and is recognized as the final European Champion before the belt's immediate deactivation.

Soon after, though, Chris Benoit would defeat RVD for the IC Title, and then Benoit and Guerrero jumped to SmackDown and took the IC Title with them!

One final absurd list of Hardcore Title Changes:
Bradshaw -> Raven -> Justin Credible -> Shawn Stasiak -> Bradshaw -> Raven -> Justin Credible -> Shawn Stasiak -> Bradshaw -> Raven -> Justin Credible -> Shawn Stasiak -> Bradshaw -> Jeff Hardy -> Johnny Stamboli -> Tommy Dreamer -> Bradshaw -> Tommy Dreamer -> Bradshaw -> Tommy Dreamer -> Shawn Stasiak -> Steven Richards -> Tommy Dreamer -> Shawn Stasiak -> Steven Richards -> Tommy Dreamer -> Shawn Stasiak -> Steven Richards -> Tommy Dreamer -> Raven -> Shawn Stasiak -> Tommy Dreamer -> Shawn Stasiak -> Steven Richards -> Tommy Dreamer -> Bradshaw -> Crash Holly -> Tommy Dreamer

Then, finally, the 24/7 Rule was de-activated for good.

Undisputed Champion: The Rock
Women's Champion: Molly Holly

Tag Team Champions: Lance Storm/Christian
Hardcore Champion: Tommy Dreamer

Intercontinental Champion: Chris Benoit
Cruiserweight Champion: Jamie Noble

WCW is much more simple:

Nitro > Saturday Night > Thunder > Worldwide > Main Event > Power Hour > Pro

Gets a little more complicated if you throw in the Crockett days though.

You know, I really wasn't being fair to shows before my time.

WWF Championship Wrestling is probably #3 actually. Then the classic version of Superstars, and then we have a fair debate between Heat and ECW for #5.

Heat was seen by many more fans than ECW was, but was only truly relevant for a year or two and then afterwards once a month on PPV nights. The other 3 episodes every month were pretty far down the ladder of importance. The show did manage to spend a few years on MTV though so it was definitely a hot commodity.

ECW was extremely relevant for a year, to the point where it was pushed as just as important as Raw and SmackDown. Then over its final 3 years it became less relevant, but it was still appointment viewing if you truly wanted to follow WWE.

Random Question:

What is the 4th-most-important weekly TV show in WWE history?

Raw is far and away #1
SmackDown is solidly #2
Superstars (the '87-'96 version) is pretty easily #3

But what's #4?
Tuesday Night Titans?
Prime Time Wrestling?
Sunday Night Heat?
ECW?

I think I have to go with ECW if for no other reason than it had exclusive feuds that actually made PPV.

THE TOP TEN

10.) Cena vs. Angle, 6/27/02 SmackDown
09.) Cena vs. Michaels, Wrestlemania 23
08.) Cena vs. Lesnar, Extreme Rules 2012
07.) Cena vs. Batista, Wrestlemania XXVI
06.) Cena vs. Umaga, Royal Rumble 2007
05.) Cena vs. Punk, Money in the Bank 2011
04.) Cena vs. Triple H, Wrestlemania 22
03.) Cena vs. Orton, Bragging Rights 2009
02.) Cena vs. Michaels, 4/23/07 Raw
01.) Cena vs. Edge, Unforgiven 2006

You can argue the order, but these are pretty definitively 10 of Cena's best 15 matches no matter how you slice it. Yeah WM22 is laughable above MitB but still. No argument with #1, since when I think "defining John Cena moment" that is the absolute first match that always springs to mind.

13.) Cena vs. Booker T, No Mercy 2004
12.) Cena vs. Mysterio, 7/25/11 Raw
11.) Raw Elimination Chamber, Elimination Chamber 2010

Again I feel like you could probably swap this 10 with the 10 that preceded it and it might fit a little better. Still a very good set of matches.

Well let's crack this beast open. I'll post 10 at a time and let them marinate a bit.

50.) Cena vs. JBL, Wrestlemania 21
49.) Cena/Hogan/Michaels vs. Jericho/Christian/Tomko, 6/27/05 Raw
48.) Cena vs. Khali, Judgment Day 2007
47.) Cena vs. Booker T, Summerslam 2004
46.) Cena/Rock vs. Awesome Truth, Survivor Series 2011
45.) Cena vs. Angle, No Mercy 2003
44.) Raw Elimination Chamber, Elimination Chamber 2011
43.) Cena vs. Miz vs. Morrison, Extreme Rules 2011
42.) Cena vs. Kane, Elimination Chamber 2012
41.) WWE vs. Nexus, Summerslam 2010

Nice cross section of stuff. The Kane match doesn't belong. The triple threat match is possibly too low, we'll see. Surprising candor about the relative averageness of the Cena/Rock vs. Awesome Truth match.

Well yeah, Gut Check gives you a guaranteed contract, whereas they could cut Rubix or Mason Andrews right now since they didn't win, but still they're getting an opportunity to win a Championship! I'll take my chances with that over having to impress judges to get a contract.

Also, Jakyl I seem to remember you being somewhat upset at the cutting of Joey Ryan. How do you feel now knowing it (and the entire gut check segment) is definitely a work? Do you like its reality era stylings?

You COMPLETELY misremembered my ranting.

My entire problem with the whole thing from the beginning was that it was a worked shoot that tried to exist on a different plane of fake reality from the rest of the show.

My only problem with them cutting Joey Ryan was that it wasted our time and ended up amounting to absolutely nothing, which to be fair doesn't seem to be the case any more (it's obviously leading to SOMETHING).

Last night's Gut Check segment was fine. They never pretended to "shoot," or "break kayfabe." They kept it entirely within the realm of professional wrestling without getting meta. I still think it's a dumb concept but it didn't upset me or anything.

Enough talk about sexy babes, let's get back to the sweaty men in tights!

Since there are no more TNA events until next week's Impact, it's a good time to step back and look at where we are with the BFG Series.

Standings
1) James Storm - 36 points
2) Samoa Joe - 27 points
3) Kurt Angle - 10 points
4) Mr. Anderson - 9 points
5) Jeff Hardy - 7 points
Magnus - 7 points
The Pope - 7 points
Rob Van Dam - 7 points
9) Christopher Daniels - 5 points
10) AJ Styles - 0 points
Bully Ray - 0 points
Robbie E - 0 points

Here's my rudimentary spreadsheet to hopefully assist in following who has fought who and which matchups still remain

Joseph Lorraine @Jakyl25
@realkevinkelly Not only the last great swerve, but I'd argue the best swerve ever! I only wish they could have let it stand.

Kevin Kelly @realkevinkelly
@jakyl25 Well the whole Invasion deal was dead on arrival but that was one of the best all-time moments in wrestling

Joseph Lorraine @Jakyl25
@realkevinkelly It was great how they didn't "remind us" that all the run-in guys were ex-ECW at first. They let US piece it together.
