ION TELEVISION DEBUTS WWE MAIN EVENT

STAMFORD, Conn., June 25, 2012 - WWE (NYSE: WWE) and ION Television today announced a new weekly one-hour original series airing on Wednesday nights at 8/7C. WWE Main Event will debut on October 3, 2012, and feature WWE Superstars and Divas from the rosters of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown. The new show will be available in 100 million U.S. television households on ION Television, a top-rated general entertainment network that features a broad mix of critically acclaimed series, movies and original programming.

Yeah, they seem to really just lump power wrestlers and hardcore wrestlers and true brawlers all into one dumb list.

I mean, if you're gonna count guys like Taker or Cena as "brawlers" then where the heck is Nash? I mean I'm not very high on the guy but he's better than the Brooklyn Brawler!

BTW one minor touch that makes me appreciate ROH logic over WWE's.

Piledrivers are banned in ROH as part of an angle. So then in the Finlay vs. Elgin match, Finlay uses his Tombstone and the match continues on like nothing out of the ordinary happened. I assume Finlay was just unaware in real life that this would be a problem.

This left the broadcast team in SHAMBLES though, scrambling for some sort of reasoning and none could be found, so for the moment they just tabled it.

Then when they come back from intermission, the announcers explain that the ref assumed it was legal because the Piledriver ban was lifted for the main event, and he thought it was for every match, and in turn that ref has been fined $250.

A nice bit of continuity to cover a blunder.

BFG SERIES UPDATE:
James Storm and Mr. Anderson wrestled to a 10-minute time-limit draw in a Bound for Glory Series match, resulting in both men earning 2 points in the BFG Series.

Post-match, Storm put over Canadian beer, called Coors Light "beaver piss," and offered Anderson a beer. Anderson asked for water and ate another Last Call instead.

I think you nailed it, although let's not forget that even smarks are marks. We're just marks with a high IQ!

But yeah, there are people like the ones in this topic who "get" wrestling and understand its scope and appreciate more than just the average spotfest, and then there's the message board warrior who thinks the TLC matches are the best matches ever and John Cena can't work.

This crowd was like the ROH equivalent of those guys.

...in that case i'll have to see it to understand the boring chants. sami/finlay wasn't built on speed either. sami at time sure, but elgin at times can be incredibly agile.

if it was similar to that, then the ROH crowd for nyc really has gotten a lot worse than i thought.

I haven't seen Finlay vs. Callihan but Finlay wasn't letting Elgin be agile. We were supposed to be getting behind Elgin getting flustered and grounded by this cagey veteran.

Part of the problem as mentioned earlier is that Elgin isn't really very sympathetic. It's hard to really get behind the guy and root for his comeback. He's a BEAST.

But I still lay 70% of the blame on the crowd because they couldn't handle 5 minutes of matwork.

The match was definitely stiff but the strikes were the transitions.

It was built around Finlay's technical ability outclassing Elgin. Finlay was being smart and sneaky, not brave and stupid.

Seriously, that was appalling. I've rarely seen a dick crowd so negatively affect a match.

Finlay was in there crafting a story about how Elgin had the strength advantage but Finlay has such a HUMONGOUS experience edge that Elgin had never experienced his tricks before and was slowly breaking Elgin down. It was glorious.

Crowd eventually got SO restless that they just kinda gave up at the end and turned the last 3 minutes into an unrelated power battle and left the previous ring work unresolved.

The crowd just COULD NOT handle a match moving at an '80s pace.

Not even close! If they did 6 matches a week every Impact, the series would be done by the end of August!

They absolutely have time to do the entire series on television; 66 matches with a 10 minute time limit on each is only 11 hours of wrestling and that's if every match goes to time which will hardly ever happen, while counting last week they have 34 hours of Impact and 9 hours of PPV before BFG.

You realize that the series ends at No Surrender on 9/9. It's called the BFG Series because the winner GOES ON to Bound For Glory.

I also think part of the problem is that it's family friendly like CHIKARA and they get a LOT of kids coming to see the shows, but the shows run from 8-11.

Bump them up an hour so the kids are more awake!
