You know, it's not readily apparent until you get results like this, but one of the drawbacks of doing the BFG series spread out through house shows is that you end up having to do silly things like having a house show match end in a countout.
Even I wouldn't have foreseen that as an issue conceptually but here we are.

Yeah less total points to be had with a Block A/Block B setup would be good.
Like the clip packages help but they do make it harder to follow along.
Though my biggest problem with it at this point is that the structure of how matches are given doesn't have more detail. On TV, at least, maybe the website explains it this year. Hell I think last year some guys had way more points just because they were in way more matches which isn't fair in the least.
-- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love!
Everyone fights everyone once this year. That has been detailed. Everyone will have 11 singles matches to comprise their BFG Series participation, plus that kickoff Gauntlet.

...well, catching up from everything border wars is easy it seems. currently 3 weeks behind, though i'm not sure i understand everything (like when the hell did "Zombie Princess" Jimmy Jacobs happen). >_>; next NYC show after tonight will be final battle though. different situation, them going for not-NYC. guess they're trying to go national and realized DGUSA is a step ahead of 'em.

I really don't think House Show matches should count for the BFG series
Just makes things harder to follow as a casual viewer
I actually think having BFG series at the house shows is one of the better ideas TNA has ever come up with. It gives the house show audience some sense of their show actually mattering rather than just being a complete non-canon practice session. And in the meantime, with the way TNA manages BFG series in general, the TV audience isn't missing a whole lot. Trying to follow the standings is almost entirely pointless until the last couple weeks anyway.

This is a really lackluster ROH iPPV. The conspiracy theorist in me wants to say that since so many people are getting this show for free as part of the payback for botching Border Wars last month (myself included), they deliberately made it a B-show, but the realist in me just thinks that they're still not used to this whole "monthly PPV" thing and are still struggling with how to build a compelling show every few weeks with just one hour of TV.
ROH World Championship Anything Goes Kevin Steen (c) vs. Davey Richards To me, this is by far the only reason to get excited about this show. This angle has been handled very well thus far, with Steen managing to always stay one step ahead of Cornette and Davey's brash arrogance getting the better of him. This is Davey's only shot at the title while Steen holds it, and while there's no way he'll actually win, it should be a much different match than last month. The dynamic has changed, and with the no holds barred stipulation, this could get crazy.
ROH Tag Team Championships Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team (c) vs. All-Night Express Stopgap feud 101. This is basically a comedown from the WGTT vs. Briscoes war to establish Haas and Benjamin's reign as being worth something. The attempt at an angle here is appreciated, with ANX (rightly) getting upset about basically being held down during the WGTT vs. Briscoes war, left holding their #1 contendership status in one hand and their junk in the other just killing time. The ever-present "WGTT loses the title on a DQ" stip is, as always, in play as well. WGTT should retain and I really hate what they've done to ANX's characters.
ROH Television Championship Roderick Strong (c) vs. Tommaso Ciampa vs. Jay Lethal Talk about a strange feud. The one face involved here, Lethal, has basically been watching from the sidelines as the two heel stables war with each other over broken promises and bad payoffs in their mutual attempts to manipulate the TV Title scene. Could be a dark horse contender for MotN, and is by far the best bet for a title change. I predict Ciampa, though I would not be shocked to see Strong retain. I would be shocked to see Lethal win though.
Michael Elgin vs. Fit Finlay Power and Agility vs. Brutality and Technique. Here we will no doubt continue the slow-burn Elgin face turn as he works with a legend and earns his respect. Elgin wins of course. The match quality could be practically anything.
Eddie Edwards vs. Homicide The "Die Hard Challenge" series continues as Edwards faces former Heavyweight Champions to prove himself worthy of another title shot. Homicide's role in ROH these days is weird. He just shows up out of the blue from time to time. Edwards wins here in another candidate for MotN. He's already fought Davey and Rhino, now I wonder who is left after Homicide? Strong is an obvious one, and Corino is semi-retired, but if Eddie's building to a match with Steen it's an obvious step. Who else is there? Do they drag Jerry Lynn back in for a match? I don't think they can get Low-Ki. Dreamer is probably available. Adam Pearce is out there if they're counting NWA, but they promoted Rhino as a "former ECW Champion" completely ignoring his NWA World Title reign (all 2 days of it. <_<).

Hybrid Fighting Rules Kyle O'Reilly vs. Adam Cole The explosion of Future Shock continues. This match can only be won by KO or Submission. Kyle went over last time, so I expect Adam to go over here and then to go over again eventually in the final blowoff before moving up to TV Title level. Not expecting much from this at all.
The Briscoe Brothers vs. The Guardians of Truth The Guardians of Truth are a mystery tag team being brought in by Truth Martini. They've actually done a great job hyping this since Truth seems unusually confident. Normally he doesn't go seeking out fights unless they're for titles or big money stakes! He actually called out the Briscoes here, which is so brazen that I'm really really curious as to who he has up his sleeve. No real prediction on the match quality here, obviously, but I expect the Guardians to go over.
Oh, and having just watched Impact, I have to say you were somewhat right and somewhat wrong.
It was a really dumb thing, but I don't think it was that horrible. Like, I was expecting (hoping?) for some russo-esque completely outrageous and over the top thing. Instead we got.... this. It's just REALLY lame, but not completely ridiculous enough to be worth losing your mind over. I think the crowd reaction of "who the **** cares" was pretty appropriate.
My guess is that they had other plans, and at the last minute someone freaked out that they were going to ruin their #1 face of the company (AJ Styles) in a way that could never be redeemed, so they just pulled the plug on the whole thing. I'm expecting (hoping again?) that this entire angle will be done and over with and never mentioned ever again within a month.

No. Russo would be something like "We were pretending to have an affair to cover up for the pregnant girl we're putting through rehab who is Dixie's daughter fathered by AJ Styles 18 years ago" or something like that.
Or it would be really going for it, having them announce that they've never loved their real spouses, and forming a heel power-couple to dominate the show for months on end.
Russo would have the balls to really go for the gusto on something like this, not take some pathetic third-option that basically just hits a giant reset button on the entire thing.

And honestly, who I REALLY think this kills is Daniels. Like, he REALLY knew about this all along and actually expected to get away with it when it was so easy to disprove??? He's supposed to be an evil genius here! This is like, Wily E. Coyote level planning at best.

From: Jakyl25 | #472 From: edwardsdv | #469 And I agree about ANX. God they are so much better than their current characters.
The current ROH creative minds really have no clue how to do a babyface character beyond "I am a no-nonsense athlete looking to prove I am the best."
They are so damn lucky the Briscoes got grandfathered in. I feel this is what hold RoH back honestly. Davey is(was?) that kind of face and it fits the Ring of Honor mantra well. But its boring. Theres a reason other companies dont usually do straight vanilla babyfaces anymore. Even Cena has some swagger to him damn it.

They really do have Davey and Steen 100% in position for a Bret vs. Austin-style double turn if they have the balls enough to admit that their company direction is failing and that Steen represents what their fans really want.

You know, it's kinda funny that we're all scrambling to figure out who is in the X-Division now besides Zema Ion, when Kazarian is right there with nothing else to do.
Quite an indictment on the way they've handled him.

On a completely unrelated note to anything, last night I witnessed one of the craziest cases of Misadventures in Match Order.
At my local indie CLASH Wrestling, it was time for the final two matches of the night. They had a Heavyweight Title match left, as well as a Tag Match between the two most athletic teams on the roster.
They had specifically done the Tag Title match between two other teams earlier in the night as the final match before Intermission, seemingly in an attempt to let the Heavyweight Title match have some breathing room, but they made a big mistake.
The two fast-paced athletic teams went out there in the penultimate match and totally blew the crowd away with your usual indie-riffic high speed tag match. "This is awesome" chants and everything.
Then the main event comes on, and it's Petey Williams defending the title so it's not like it's a nobody here. He and his challenger proceed to have an excellent match but the crowd is DEAD. I'm talking crickets chirping.
Their moves are crisp, It's a very well structured match, and they're really trying to get the crowd into it, to no avail. I try to start some Petey chants and some clapping at various points that warrant it but practically NO ONE is biting. The finish had absolute ZERO reaction beyond some polite applause.
It was really the strangest feeling ever, to see the beloved Champion locked into a submission hold 12 minutes in fighting to avoid tapping out and NO ONE CARING. Almost literal silence.
The lesson: DON'T USE YOUR MOST CROWD-PLEASING MATCH AS THE BUFFER MATCH BEFORE THE MAIN EVENT.

Honestly most of the time I try to self-book the card as I drive to the show based on where I see things going and how to get there and I would say 80% of the time they're already right in line with my philosophies. This was just an anomaly.

Not booking wise. Steen's probably the second most popular act on the roster outside of the Briscoes but as far as the storyline goes he's still this evil force looking to purge ROH of its lameness by any means necessary.

Jakyl, during the main event you should have just stood up, walked over to the ring announcer and taken the mic and just said "No, no no no. Just stop. Everybody stop right now. This isn't right. Let me explain to you why this isn't working everyone, and then I can explain how you guys can fix it to avoid this problem in the future!" And then go into a 30 minute booker rant.
Unless security tackles you first.

I'm still very worried about the Elgin turn. I love watching Elgin wrestle, but I don't think his character works as a face. I don't think his RoH equivalent of Mark Henry gimmick works, I don't think his match style and move set works, I just don't see it. This guy is built to be a heel.
I also feel like he is the next in line to face Steen. He is the perfect person for Cornette to look to take down Steen. The problem with beating Steen seems to be keeping him down, and a power wrestler like Elgin is the perfect guy to do it.
And since I am still hoping that the ME feud ends in a Davey/Steen/Cornette triple turn that means Elgin would need to be heel when he faces Steen.

I've only been watching WWE PPV's with my girlfriend's mom, and I haven't been watching the weekly shows. I mainly watched WWF/E during the late 90's/early 2000's (Edge and Christian era?) What are the chances of Shane MacMahon coming back? My gf's mom complains about them not being able to find someone to replace Vince as the charismatic boss villain and also when it comes actually running the company. Johnny and HHH seem to both be doing poorly at either or both aspects, but Shane is amazing at both. The guy reeked of charisma and he has a great head on his shoulders.
I was told that father and son had a falling out, but given how low the stock is, would Vince swallow his pride and ask Shane to come back? My girlfriend's mom mentioned that Vince has been seen interacting with Shane more (lunch, meetings, etc), is Shane coming back a likely event?
To do the whole thing on TV means that every show basically has to be as rushed and crammed as this past week's was.
Not even close! If they did 6 matches a week every Impact, the series would be done by the end of August!
They absolutely have time to do the entire series on television; 66 matches with a 10 minute time limit on each is only 11 hours of wrestling and that's if every match goes to time which will hardly ever happen, while counting last week they have 34 hours of Impact and 9 hours of PPV before BFG.

It's not going to happen. Shane has completely left the WWE and has a successful new career that he makes him a lot of money and that he is reportedly very good at.
