With the 4th option you'll have to be more specific as I'm sure there's a wide range in quality among the shows on Youtube Kids (just like regular YT).

Of the televised ones I'd say Caillou, since it literally teaches kids to be little shits.

youtube kid slop is absolutely positively terrible. maybe there's some decent things technically on there, but what the algorithm favors is just kind of nightmarishly bad

I don't know if saying "youtube kids" as a whole is the correct way to identify it, but it's the kind of stuff that naturally gets recommended to small children clicking on things on a smartphone. I occasionally see some on my recommends when I watch a video that the youtube algorithm is absolutely failing on (new account, first video, no views) and just recommends the most popular stuff on youtube at the time

I'm relatively sure it's just AI iterating on other popular stuff

Teletubbies aired on ABC here I think in Australia. It's more of a weird fever dream show.

Im not a Sesame Street expert to be fair but from what I understand Big Bird (who used to be the mascot of Sesame Street) represented kids because of his naivety and also his awkward stature I guess. But Elmo (current mascot of Sesame Street) represents kids because be speaks in baby talk

Big Bird is cool. I prefer Grover. He can be a chef, a waiter or a Super Hero.

I'm not familiar with Caillou, but I'm well aware that YouTube Kids recommends some weird garbage.

There is. I think TC wanted to be intentional by bringing up YouTube Kids without providing any examples. Should of just listed more PBS stuff if that was the intention.

Never watched it, but Caillou. Teletubbies was weird. Barney was probably bad for its time (especially with a lot of 90s PBS stuff), but considering other kids shows, PBS or otherwise, there's way worse.
Caillou is what happens when you let a little kid be very spoiled and there's no consequences.

Sesame Street was way better when it was actually what it was originally supposed to be - a way to help teach low-income and otherwise disadvantaged kids to learn at an early age. The entire reason it takes place on a street in the first place was because they were aiming it at inner city kids growing up in poor neighborhoods (and if we're going to be honest, mostly black and hispanic neighborhoods), and was meant to reflect the sort of environment they might be familiar with.

Over time it was basically sterilized into homogeneous slop, aimed more at middle class white kids, and thus became less and less worthwhile. The point where Elmo became a major character was pretty much where it crossed the line into garbage. Especially once they realized they could sell Elmo dolls to people. It's probably not a coincidence that his presence massively ballooned after Jim Henson died.

By the time it eventually shifted to HBO, the show was pretty much worthless.
