And special mention for the marquee bellwether contests in Nassau. County executive, DA, comptroller, etc. Many of these races are also featuring the new Moderate party fusion voting ballot line for the Dems. This effort is lead by the Dem candidate for my town supervisor and has largely replaced the Working Families line this year as a counter to extremism and more largely the Conservative line, which has statewide major party status.

Morning bump.

Only oddity on my sample ballot this year is the unopposed GOP/Con family court judge candidate who is a current district judge. He's not cross-endorsed for Dem lines like most judges here are, which is strange. On the bench since 2014 and thriving despite significant physical disabilities. Nothing remarkable about this judge beyond their disability advocacy and maybe excessive bail. I may leave this race blank and continue to never vote Republican. When I was briefly a law clerk 20 or so years ago, I remember how hellish and sad that family court building was. Broken families and broken barely-computerized systems. I can only hope this judge brings an atypical amount of empathy to the job. It's a 10-year term.

Enough to maybe win an outright majority. People just want a mayor with the right mindset even Mamdani is green or might not accomplish much of anything. The rest have either latched onto Cuomo and his fear-mongering or see a certified New Yorker in Sliwa. Cuomo doesn't care if he's bought and he's delusional if he thinks Trump will call off the national guard and "tanks in NYC" just for him.

I turned in my mail-in ballot earlier this week. Wanted to do it weeks ago but NJ makes it hard to know about BoE candidates and I had to wait until a local "Meet the Candidates Night" was held.

Cuomo learned nothing from the primary. He's still praying for an election day miracle when yesterday's early voting has already put him in a very deep hole.

Outer borough voting up nearly 600%, even during Shabbos. He's done.

I'm hoping Mandani wins and hoping alot that

Trump doesn't do something to deport,detain or kill him
Establishment Democrats realize through his victory that being centralist do nothings will not win the support of the people, being the other option isn't good enough anymore
Mandani doesn't turn out to be another Fetterman or Sinma running on popular progressive positions and ditching all of them as soon as he's in the seat of power for monetary gain.

I hope Cuomo loses HARD.

I was in NYC last month. High up in a luxury condo in Brooklyn someone had put big letters on their windows that said "I love you Zohran." Also saw lots of young women with Zohran tshirts.
