This is about Sweden. Wasnt room for that in the topic title, so no one cries.

* Roll back the current Right-wing governments tax cuts for the wealthy and expand on a bank tax on excessive earnings.

* Raise the child allowance (money parents with young kids get per month) and raise the monthly high school and university student grant.

* Remove the penalty of no pay the first day youre home sick from work.

* Cheaper medicine costs by reversing the cuts the current government have done to the High Cost Protection programme.

* Various employment measures which include helping green businesses and to stimulate building more housing.

* More money to both law enforcement and crime prevention programmes which include implementing a version of the USA:s successful mafia law.

* Keep building our Armed Forces stronger which include continued support to Ukraine against the Russian slime (last part is my personal phrasing).

* More funding for public schools and healthcare.

* Restrictions on profit for private schools, healthcare practices etc which receive public funding.

* Continue the tougher immigration laws which have been gradually implemented since 2015 including making speaking Swedish on a high level a requirement for long term residency permits and citizenship.

I know that there is a lot of political idealism on CE but the hard truth is that this is what a substantial majority of Swedes want and the Socialdemocrats are going in on winning back power. Which will be helpful even for immigrants, at least the ones who integrate. Because the Swedish welfare model can only survive if people work and pay their fair share of taxes. And it is a fact that immigrants who dont learn Swedish struggle to get employment and find a place in our society. The Socialdemocrats are for the first time in 19 years starting to win back blue collar male voters who have left them for the Nationalists, which will benefit the nation. Cuz our Right-wing parties are starting to eye their own version of Project 2025 so they must be stopped and being strict on immigration will help that cause. Sad but true.

I don't doubt such policies are popular. I don't know the situation in Sweden, but in the UK we have Ref-UK leading in the polls and racists hanging flags from every lamp post to intimidate immigrants.

Perhaps things are different in Sweden. In the UK immigrants are the backbone of our public services. The amount immigration costs small compared to benefit fraud, and non existent next to tax avoidance. Yet the political parties don't speak on that.

Honestly kinda based, so long as the final point also includes the facilities to help people learn the language. As someone who considers themselves fairly pro immigration, I do think it's important for immigrants to be able to speak the local language(s). Great if they know them beforehand, but if not then they should be given the opportunity to learn. Immigrants can't integrate if we can't even communicate.
