nobody has talked about it in 10+ years

It was. But people can only deal with stupidly slow pacing for so long.

It's been finished longer than 10 years and wasn't a particularly deep or memorable story. What's there to still talk about?

For like 3 months in the 2000s maybe.

It also got a sequel which I've... not heard much from.

I know two things about it.

One is that Shippo still looks exactly the same which is super lame.

The second is that Sesshomaru got together with that ten-year-old girl that followed him around which is super fucking creepy.

It was a very typical late night "junk food" anime for teenage girls.

It definitely had its audience, but there isn't much to talk about when all was said and done.

It was so popular with little girls that its honestly strange CN didn't try to edit it down for kids and air after school like a lot of their anime at the time.

There have been several scale figures in the last few years, so the audience isn't exactly dormant even granting that YashaHime didn't make much of a splash. The manga is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary.

What i always hated was that Adult Swim sped up the credits so you never got to hear the whole theme. You'd only get like half of it

There was a lot of blood and death, I don't think it would have been worth the effort.

I guess that makes sense. They would have to edit around a lot more graphic violence than something like YuYu.

YuYu Hakusho was pushing the its tv rating to the limit when it aired on after school Toonami.

I do remember the censorship it got being surprisingly subtle. Occasionally you'll notice a swear getting cut short. I'm not even sure they bothered to airbrush the smoking, and while smoking wasn't super taboo on CN at the time it was still the 2000s.

I quit watching when they almost completely put the jewel back together, but then it breaks again to extend the series.

I tend to forget about Inuyasha, but it was one of the shows that really jump started my interest in "acquiring" anime.

Fukai Mori is still a fucking banger ED too.

The last season was also just terrible. Naraku got a redemption arc at the end. Inuyasha got a sword upgrade that literally cleaves space and they act like it is hardly strong enough to deal with Naraku's henchmen. Sesshomaru gets a new sword that basically causes atomic fission where anything it cuts explodes and then anything attached to it also explodes creating a chain until the object is completely destroyed. Then the whole way they wrapped up the jewel as a plot device and story line was just stupid.

I liked InuYasha not really ending. I wasn't watching it for plot or a cohesive story, not really. I just wanted random feudal Japan spirit adventures, and that's exactly what I got.

Scanlating Inuyasha was a mistake

I didn't really care for it. But the opening and closing songs were really good.

Naraku wasn't given a "redemption arc." The anime did add to his death scene by showing that he felt at peace in his final moments, but that's about it.

Actual modern shounen stops production when material runs dry and continues when it can with very little filler. See AoT, My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, etc.

Shit like One Piece is NOT the norm anymore.

At a certain point, you'd think Miroku would just take one for the team and suck Naraku into his black hole even if he sucks in a bunch of wasps and it kills him.

I swear I remember a point where he was actually about to do that in a moment of desperation (not to Naraku but a minion of his) but Naraku really needed the thing alive so he was forced to call a retreat.

I could be misremembering that. I thought there was an episode that had to do with the jewel and that the whole reason Naraku was doing what he was, was to destroy the jewel and free the priestess from the constant fighting inside it.

As an aside, my first show with Richard Ian Cox was Quicksilver on X-Men Evolution.

Regardless of your thoughts on Inuyasha dragging on too long, you have to give flowers to its mangaka, Rumiko Takahashi. There was a period from the 80s through 00s where she was absolutely unstoppable, cranking out classic after classic. First, she studies under Kazuo Koike, who created Lone Wolf And Cub. She then creates:

Urusei Yatsura
Maison Ikkoku
Ranma
Inuyasha

All huge successes with massive global influence, selling 25+ million copies each in Japan alone. Ranma in particular sold 55M books.

Well, it's true that the jewel was manipulating him. It wasn't trying to "free" the priestess (Midoriko), it wanted to replace her and the demon she was fighting with Kagome and Naraku. It was basically losing its power and wanted to replenish itself by repeating the cycle of "priestess vs. powerful amalgamation of demons." They even have the even has the same backstory as their predecessors: a man was in love with Midoriko and he gave his body to the demons in an attempt to take her for himself.

As for Naraku, his actual motivations are unclear, but that's by design because he was a living contradiction, since his human half wanted Kikyo to himself while his demon half wanted to kill her.

Miroku was a giant pervert. Most of the shit he was doing wouldn't fly nowadays unless his he is still a perv or a bigger perv in the reboot. I did enjoy him get smacked though.
