I'm really annoyed with the way the anime was handled. The original anime got through about 3/5th's of the Manga...Then once the Manga concluded, we got Inuyasha: The Final Act, which hyper compressed the last 2/5th's of the Manga into 26 episodes.

Tons of stuff was cut (to the point episodes barely fit together) with Hakudoshi being gone so quick it is almost funny, including probably the best fight of the Manga in Moryomaru vs pretty much all of the good guys (Inuyasha's group, Kikyo, Sesshomaru) sans Koga. Plenty of fights/arcs were also cut (Ginka and Kinka are barely present), particularly concerning Moryomaru.

And yeah, the way the Moryomaru mocked Kagura's death was better when in the Manga it happened after she already died, and it was originally a part of the fight mentioned.

Also, what was ever the point of the Dragon-Scaled Tetsusaiga when Inuyasha stole Sesshomaru's technique and Sesshomaru got a new sword anyway.

nah. Kikyo was fine. The real time waster was anything in the modern day. There was never a time when the time travel was necessary or even important. Like Kagome just should have been a girl from the era. She can still be Kikyo reincarnated, but theres no need for it to be 100+ years. Nothing was added by having Inuyasha have weird side adventures in the modern day.

While the time travel stuff didn't amount to much, I do think it's inclusion was small contributor to its success.

I think the whole idea is that Kagome could be a stand-in for the viewer to help keep show somewhat relatable.

I loved it as a kid. Decided to rewatch it a year or two ago since I never finished it. Now that I'm much older, I can see how bad it is. Very slow pacing. And it took fucking 7 seasons for them to catch Naraku and for Kagome and Inuyasha to finally address their feelings. The sequel wasn't all that great either.

Edit: Whoops, 8 seasons actually.

Final Act was a disaster. It couldn't fix how the original anime ended (poor Moryomaru setup, cutting Koga's sword, etc) and then doubled down with more mindless cuts to Kinka/Ginka and glossing over the Meioju. The anime was narrowly focused on going through the motions of adapting chapters without doing anything to establish scenes or characters.

Sunrise was unrelentingly lazy in giving the show the Tales of the Abyss anime treatment. The characters were literally running from town to town as if they needed to keep up with the breakneck pacing of at least a volume per episode. One of the episodes was simply the reuse of an OVA that had been shelved for years.

Yashahime... we don't talk about that.

Pretty much agree with everything. Really wish they hadn't tried to rush it all at break neck speed.

Also, minor thing, but they changed the pronunciation they used for Midoriko between the OG anime and The Final Act. Just...irritates me hugely for some reason.

Why even bother finishing the anime if you are going to do such a horrible job with it?

I only remember X-Men Evolution because that Rogue made me like mean Goth girls. Although Scarlet Witch... aiaiai.

Not gonna lie, I only liked it because of Kirara, the really cute demon cat that they had.

Xmen Evolution started weak but got a lot better as it went on.

The first closing theme still slaps, though.

Honestly, almost all of Inuyasha's closing songs slapped. Both Do As Infinity songs, the Namie Amuro song, the BoA song.... etc. Inuyasha had good music.

Inuyasha had a PS1 fighting game, Feudal Fairy Tale, that I found at a thrift shop. Pretty fun, though I never got good at it.

it seems like the show should get a dragonball kai treatment that steamlines it into a shorter series.

The worst thing that was done wrong with the time travel was the ending. Rather than BSing a way for Kagome to go back to the past again after the well stopped working, they should've just had a 500 year old Inuyasha show up in the present, since he would actually live that long.

My old roommate had this. It had some self insert as a main character and you were best buds with Inuyasha and co iirc. Very basic rpg.

I only watched it because FMA came on after, but I do remember the music. Do As Infinity was and still is one of my favorite bands of all time, at least the 2000-2005 era. Theyre still around actually but they sound different,
