He has the most memories of his dad being healthy you know? He's lying in the hospital bed his dad had. His middle son (14) is the most sensitive but he is pretty strong right now. I think he wants to be strong for everyone else? His youngest son (12) is like... fine? Started as Colon Cancer, he did treatment and all and was cancer free for about 26 months. He was feeling the best in his adult life and in one of the random checks he had spots in his lungs. Some people deal with death far differently than I could. I attended a close friends funeral last week and his widow gave the sermon. I definitely wouldn't have been able to do it, she only broke on the last 5 words. He was only 40 years old, Everything was looking up for him. Beautiful wife, 3 year old child, and accomplishments most could only hope to achieve. PHD in Sports Medicine, peak physical fitness and a great job. Went on a business trip, forgot his replacement diabetic clip. Got home and fell into a diabetic coma passing a few days later. The amount of people attending his funeral was unreal. We are a loving family but my father was raised in a very... reserved family, where it was OK to tell the girls you loved them but not the boys. It's only been the last 6 months or so that Travis, my dad, and I started telling each other that we love each other. I'm a very loving person and I use words of affirmation all the time. That's maybe not the right way to phrase it because I mean, he had lived with cancer for 8 years and was failing. The last time he could still eat regularly and head out and about should he so desire. The summer saw a steady decline and then for most of September he couldn't really eat. </quote> ... I knew a girl from high school who dealt with cancer for at least that long; every time I saw her she had some just gotten something surgically removed.
