I would have been happy with either of them. 5 is a great game too, but something about it felt missing (not sure how to describe it...like it felt less...epic or something) over DW3 and 4. Mechanically DW8 xtreme legends complete is the best of the entire series, but DW3 had a lot of things going for it during it's time. It was the first one that introduced split-screen co-op in all of it's foggy, draw-distance shortening glory. It's archer peons was the most lethal and you WILL respect them on the hardest difficulties. The morale system as another post said was a actual morale system....let it be too low and you will find all of your NPC allies dead and it really is you against the world. Certain characters were at their peak in this old game. Gan ning for example is fondly remembered for his DW3 incarnation because that pirate sword musou of his was awesome. My favorite dude in this one was zhang he (the claw guy). The old dub was freaking hilarious and I am actually really hoping they decide to keep it (alongside making a brand new dub for people that want something a little more quality) as a joke option we can select. The music is also pretty great. In the newer iterations, you HAVE to mow down 100000 enemy generals and random are an afterthought. In DW3 you gotta slog through everything and rushing down generals alone is a good way to die --- Would you follow a blind man?
