No communist party has ever been "real communism", so I think the comparison is valid enough for the masses to understand

If I had a million dollars, I would buy you communism.

But not real communism, that's cruel.

to be more fair than I should, historically, yes, that's what communist governments have done and have acted and why the idealogy is vilified to this day (because it's not, actually. It's the thin cover of populist appeal over a stereotypical dictatorship. But explain what communism actually suggests and tries to accomplish and people's eyes glaze over)

There is no succeeding with some people on this board. People literally started calling me fascist in this topic because I said something they didn't like.

People like that are part of the reason Kamala lost. People like that are an embarrassment in the general public, outside their bubble. Right media love it when they talk so they can show it as evidence of the left being overdramatic.

Real communism only exists on pen and paper. Real life attempts end up as dictatorships.

I'm ok with it. For whatever reason communism is a bigger, scarier word than fascism in the US so she's just appealing to the type of language that the red hats will understand and have a hard time struggling to combat.

And we might as well start calling the GOP the same thing they keep accusing us of, if only to confuse and frustrate them. I'm wondering if Harris is giving up on politics. The stuff in her book seems calculated to cause controversy and gain attention, but it doesn't show her to be a very wise or effective operator.

In a hypothetical 2024 primary where Biden wisely stepped aside, she would have to win on virtue of being VP alone, as her 2020 performance left a lot to be desired (her all but calling Biden racist is really sad). And she was not extraordinary by VP standards. She kinda just faded into the ether unless she was needed to break a Senate tie.

Could she still have been the nominee in such a scenario? Perhaps. She could have also been swept aside due to her irrelevance as a VP or being forced to bear Biden's failures. Making comments like calling someone a "communist dictator" also endears her to no one.

Still would have made for a much better President than who we got. So pitiful.

Authoritarianism comes in many shades, so I really don't see the big difference here.

First two probably would have done the best of the four. Most of them would have performed better vs Trump though assuming they could get the nomination. As regrettable as this is to say, too much of the voting public just will not vote for a black woman. Ignorance and bigotry associated with this energize Trump's base while having the opposite effect on groups that Democrats need to have the support of based off where Trump made gains in 2024. Just extremely regrettable people are this way.

I wonder if Comey knew what he was doing in the final days of the 2016 election. Anyway, she is doing the right thing by fading into the ether despite her grief of being someone who failed to keep Trump out of office. Harris should follow her example come election season if not sooner.

And here I thought that was all the fascists. In fact, tallying up the people in the Republican Party who are Trump, Trump supporters and enablers and the Supreme Court justices, Hillary Clinton (who warned frequently he was an authoritarian monster) wouldn't even crack the top 100.

And the multiple Supreme Court justices who have rigged the game for him.

Like Harris, she ran a terrible campaign. Unlike Harris, she actually was not rushed into being the candidate and had a much larger rsum and support network to tackle the task of becoming President. Coming off a great President like Obama, you would think his successor would be a shoe in. It was not to be of course. And again, Comey, why?

Hillary made herself a very unlikable candidate, and, as someone else pointed out, pushed for Trump to win the primaries because she believed it would be easier. Its incredibly ignorant to believe she doesnt hold any responsibility for Trump

In general, I think its perfectly fair to blame a failed opposition when a country falls into fascism. If Reform UK wins, Kier Starmer will have a huge share of the blame for his poor performance as prime minister. When Germany elected Hitler, the centrist parties deserve a large amount of blame for siding with him over the socialists.
