I confess to being the low vote on Zangief. Ive always disliked playing as the big slow characters of which hes the prototype, and nothing about him really works for me down to his design or personality. But Im obviously an outlier in feeling that way.

Sakura was one of the characters I thought might be ranked at the top. She's very popular in the Street Fighter fandom. But here, she's only ninth. Which still isn't bad. Nearly half of all rankers put her in their Top 10, so it makes sense that she's in the Top 10. She's the fourth most popular female character on the list.

Shadaloo Bio: "Her fighting style is modeled after Ryu, but she also mixes in techniques from her family's style, which is considered a powerful fighting style. Her rival has been Karin Kanzuki since Sakura was in high school. Well, at least Sakura believes they're rivals. She's currently taking on all challengers, because she just loves to fight!"

Sakura is probably the favorite to win this Ranking. She's always at the top of popularity polls. I'm not sure when or how, but Sakura is basically THE most popular Street Fighter. I wouldn't personally place her nearly that high up my list, but I do like her; the original fighting schoolgirl, she definitely stood out in the Alpha series and inspired an endless amount of copycats. She plays similarly enough to Ryu to make her easy to use, but has enough drastic differences that she is still her own character. She's not really plot relevant, but her popularity has her interacting with a bunch of characters anyway. And her theme songs are rather consistently some of the best Street Fighter songs of all. She's not exactly a favorite, but I like her and see why she's consistently at the top of the charts. - FluttershyPony

Zangief used to be my most hated character, simply because I couldn't do 360 motions effectively. I've warmed up since then though, and he's fun to watch. It's also fun when I can successfully zone him out playing against him, heh.

I've played some SF games on mobile where they have easy motion inputs available, so it's nice to use him then.

Dudley is the last character not to be ranked in the Top 2. And if you exclude my vote for him (which was the low, sorry Dudley fans!) he is tied for highest low vote on the list. (More on that later). While he's not in as many Top 20 lists as some characters in the Top 10, he overall ranked very well with most people. Everyone had him in their top half.

Shadaloo Bio: "Dudley is a heavyweight boxer, proudly hailing from the UK. His father's business failed, and as a result, Dudley faced major hardships in life, but he was able to recoup everything. Dudley is a high-powered fighter that likes to get in and do damage, but he also loves his roses, and tea. Even fighters can have a soft side!"

I've always really liked Dudley. His more aggressive rush down style of boxing works better for me than Balrog's moveset does & Dudley's refined, gentleman's style contrasts quite nicely against all other other fighters. He has no real connection to the plot, but as a boxing champion, it's at least plausible for him to show up in any game involving a fighting tournament.

I do wish I had something more to say about him as I do really like him, but there's not really much to him besides "gentleman boxer with a fun playstyle" and I can't find a way to drag this write up out any longer. Definitely a character that I'm always excited to see though. - FluttershyPony

The third Black Boxer Guy manages to set himself apart from the more famous one by being his polar opposite in terms of personality and a more technical moveset that is less reliant on brute force in favour of finesse. - GavsEvans123

The face of the franchise. Half of all rankers put him in their Top half, and he's one of a few characters who actually had multiple first place rankers. A quarter had him in their Top 10. If you asked someone to name a fighting game character, or a street fighter character, there's a good chance Ryu would be who they name first. Scorpion and Sub Zero probably compete there for fighting game characters. Ryu is also a playable character in Smash Brothers. It should be no surprise that he's in the Top 10 Street Fighter characters, though he missed out on the Top 5.

Juri is the highest rated character to have anyone rank them outside of their bottom 10%. Meaning all the Top 5 had nobody rank them that low. She also made it onto almost 2/3rds of all Top 20 lists, and a third of all top 10 lists.

Seemingly the most popular character from Street Fighter IV, Juri has quickly become a series mainstay. With appearances in Street Fighter V & 6, along with X Zone 1 & 2, Juri is probably the most definitive character in the modern SF series. A couple years back, WWE wrestler Zelina Vega even came to the ring in full Juri cosplay, a testament to her popularity and surprisingly high place in pop culture, well beyond any other modern Street Fighter. She's also somewhat unique as she's an evil Tae Kwan Do fighter and apparently some people really wanted a fighting game to have a darker TKD user to contrast all the heroic ones. Consistently at the top of the popularity polls, Juri is certain to be an important part of the series for years to come.

...Though honestly, I've never been into her? She always just seemed like a rather "fine" character to me. This is likely just because I never put in the work to understand her properly. Looking at the description of her SF6 weaknesses, playing as her feels like the exact opposite of what I'd enjoy:

"Avoid if you dislike:

Having to manage an additional resource to maximize damage and conversions

Learning long combo sequences and getting used to changes in move properties during power-up supers"

...No, thank you. I'm sure Juri is a very fun character once you know how to use her, but the execution level is too advanced for my blood. I'm still just a button masher and that's not going to get me anywhere with a character that wants me to manage resources, and memorize exactly how every move functions based on available resources, and a variety of combos (regular & with her Super modifying her options)... Juri's just too advanced of a character for me to have fun with. And that's quite definitively a "me" problem, but then this is my Ranking based only on personal feelings and I'm not required to be completely objective. Objectively, top tier. Subjectively, probably towards the middle because I appreciate what the character is doing but am very unlikely to play as her or be particularly thrilled seeing her. - FluttershyPony

i had her at 2 but she's gotten worse with every entry as they cater more to the fetish crowd with all her animations and closeups. FSE is one of the coolest mechanics in SF ever and it's a damn shame that the character gameplay-wise has become less complex just because she's popular. she's also one of the characters whose dub voices i can't stand but even in JP, her voice/tone are SO played up now that it can get kind of grating.
