I mean when you think about it, every other place is just full of bots these days. Everywhere. I know there are jokes to be made but this feels like the only place where everyone is actually human here and bots don't really interfere with the flow of everything. Sure, CE is closed down and sure, I don't know the status of the video game boards on here since I don't play video games anymore, but CE is honestly interesting these days for that reason. It's locked from new people coming, no bots or nothing to come in and invade. But also not a live social circle like a Discord thing.

It's interesting to think about.

Nah just kidding. Yeah it's nice not having to deal with bots. So many places got ruined because of them.

But seriously, yeah it's nice. Although there's a couple/few posters that sure act like bots, but I really don't think they are.

Not to mention its a forum as opposed to a glorified chat room.

Bots are limited somewhat on this board because traffic is limited. Bad actors are the bigger issue. Overall, its still a site you can speak somewhat freely and these are going away soon :(

Being on a dying message board has its perks.

This is the only online social board I use period, so I dont have experience with bots. Its my only real online interaction period. I might occasionally and very rarely write a YouTube comment but I mostly just watch videos at work. The rest of my online activity is just using Amazon, EBay, or Etsy and I dont interact with people there.

So I hear people talk about bots and disinformation and stuff on platforms like Twitter and Im sure eventually Bluesky but I dont interact with these communities that have them.

How close to your definition of "botted" are the "here is an AI image made from copy and pasted stuff" threads and posts we see here?

Those slop fests are veering pretty close to what you are taking about, imo.

Ps: I wish there was a way to hide threads

It takes some irl social skills, but there are ways to tell if the person you're talking to is an actual person.

Yeah most posters have quirks youll notice over the years.

I dont think there are bots here simply because this place is dead. The small few thousand people left are just people like me who have been here so long they have nowhere else to go

You have to go into the topic first, but on the first post of the topic there is a 'hide' link in the bottom right corner of the post (at least for my view, I am using the old school GameFAQs layout). You should be able to hide the topic from there.

I would hate for someone to think I'm a bot. That would hurt, knowing how much time I spent reprogramming myself for ${currentDominantSpecies()} interaction, just to have it thrown in my face that I am a MACHINE LIFEFORM/Android and not a member of the greater and powerful ${currentDominantSpecies()}. I only touch Pokemon games board right now, and those don't have bots either despite how big of a franchise Pokemon is.

But CE in particular, as you already know, is heavily locked, only those who were already CE regulars during its lockdown can go into CE now, so it's only natural that we don't see any bots here.
Which is indeed interesting, from all the forums I've ever joined, I think this is the only forum that has a board where visiting it, is locked to old regulars.

That is because we are such a great team at Raid. You should join too!

I'd say they don't count at all, they are at least a person doing it even if they're making use of AI. and most importantly it is clear what is going on, it's not bots masquerading as people
