Some enemies inflict a unique status debuff not found anywhere else that can only be resisted with equipment after the area is completed. The status debuff removes EXP and could delevel you.
Some other enemies sometimes inflict a status debuff for inverted controls. This is random when it actually procs and it lasts for a variable amount of time.
