I mostly throw them on as background noise so it's mainly full VODs with little to no editing that come from my watch habits. Keep that in mind.

PatStaresAt - of the former Super Best Friends. Does all kinds of stuff but mostly prefers action games and RPGs. Starts streams by gabbing for a while, fair warning.

WollieVersus - also of former Super Best Friends. Similar content to Pat, but also a weekly segment Get Into Fighting Games. Currently on hiatus for baby reasons.

Vinesauce - gained popularity through corruption/glitch content. Variety but with a heavy mix of old, new, glitch, or just plain weird stuff.

VargSkelethor - Joel of the original larger Vinesauce group. Tends to lean into the video game streaming version of shitposting.

Limealicious - originally part of the larger Vinesauce group with no camera or avatar, now an independent Vtuber. Variety on mostly modern stuff, with frequent collabs.

BatAtVideoGames - Vtuber that does mostly older games, especially modded in some way. Frequently does extremely long form marathon style streams.

TenmaMaemi - Vtuber with a temper. Cute most of the time but can be made to explode by viewers or the game she's playing.

Maximillian Dood and his secondary channel YoVideoGames. His main is where hes usually by himself, whereas the other is where he plays games with 3 of his friends.
Squad - Collection of YouTubers (like Afrosenju, Seereax, Dotodoya, and Rhymestyle just to name a few) that play games together.
Friends Without Benefits - No longer active aside from the occasional streaming of gaming related events, but I still enjoy going back and rewatching some of their playthroughs.

LGR (aka Lazy Game Reviews) has been my favorite YT channel for well over a decade at this point.

He has slowed down on game reviews and now mostly talks about old hardware and computer history, but I still actively recommend him.

Yeah, I miss his LPs but I enjoy his new content too. It's just a lot less frequent...which is the unfortunate thing when you shift to more edited, longform content. I also really like RoahmMythril but it's hard to recommend him *now* because of the IRL shit he's been going through, causing him to do several months-long breaks. I realize that's not really fair to say, but just know when you subscribe to him you won't be getting notifications from him for long periods. But he's got a good backlog of content to watch through, I caught him thanks to his Buster-only no-hit Mega Man classic runs.

As for a few recs that are my favs...I have several subscriptions but these are the ones I'll always drop everything to watch currently.
IGP. He specializes in horror game content, usually focuses on the more obscure indie titles that are also high quality. After all, his channel used to be called "Indie Game Promoter" until he shortened it to IGP to sound more professional. But they're edited well, he's one of the few who really showcases the game's sound just as much as his own voice, and he has a second channel where he plays goofy multi-player games with his friends that is pretty much always very funny.

Super Gaming Bros. is a family commentary channel who is pretty funny. Stars Somecallmejohnny, his brother Elliot, his uncle, and his best friend Matt (who's the only white guy in the group, lol). They recently came back from an *indefinite* hiatus because they thought Covid and conflicting schedules meant the end of their channel, but they were able to re-launch it. Dunno for how long, but Somecallmejohnny also regularly streams with co-hosts on Twitch too, and I love watching his streams because they're usually funny and chill.

CaseOh is a recent one. You might've seen him in clips before, he's a fat, southern redhead who usually wears a hoodie. He usually plays slop/low quality indie games but his demeanor, the way he speaks, and his accent make him absolutely hilarious. He also makes a conscious effort to not swear and seems like a genuine good dude.

I still fall asleep to old Super Best Frrinds Play episodes. Outside of them, I'll just watch playthroughs by random channels.

I've also been enjoying CaseOh and Game Grumps lately. They're fun.

Sega Lord X - in depth history and reviews of Sega consoles/arcade and games. Focuses heavily on Sega Saturn.

Snes drunk - mostly reviews snes games but occasionally other systems. Very small 5 min videos that are great for a quick watch.

My Life in Gaming - Technical videos that often focus on hardware and accessories. Many videos cover image quality across CRT, upscalers, system emulation(ps1 on ps3 for example). Has some of the best looking b-roll footage.

Many A True Nerd. I mostly watch his fallout and elder scrolls videos.

Glock9. He mostly makes 7 Days to Die videos. I found his channel when I was thinking of trying some survival games. I never did get into any but I subbed for the commentary.

Ya, fightincowboy is my go-to for Let's Plays and walkthrough vids. Started watching him for Dark Souls help and really liked his style.

FlamingMercury5 is a pretty new one.
Right now it's all Mega Man and Pokemon videos, except for one about Punch-Out.

most of what I watch on youtube are the hololive/holostars english folks. Both current and retired.

"watch" is possibly a generous term when it's more "I need something on the other monitor/background noise" but y'know, enjoying the time all the same

Oh man how did I miss Johnny. Yeah, he's great. His reviews got me to try games I probably would have passed on otherwise, including one of my all time favorites in Guacamelee.

This one dude Punchy did a interesting video on this random japan-only PS1 horror jrpg I never heard of called mark of the mermaid. Liked it enough that I subscribed to him.

Marsh and dungeon chill have extremely similar vibes with the games they cover and the way they discuss the games they are playing so the 2 fanbases have a lot of cross-over.

While I never actually sat and watched through a entire stream, those joseph anderson compilations get a laugh out of me. (His persona 5 playthrough for sure with the ass eaters).

To put this into context, Ive been watching Clement since I was a freshman in high school (same with Johnny) and Im now 30 if that gives you an idea of how long these dudes have been around. I imagine many of Clements subs are like me who subbed as kids/teens and then grew up. I just dont have the time as a 30 year old with a full time job to sit down and watch lets plays, let alone a lets play of a game Im not even familiar with.

I like the guy, but him insulting his viewers on the way out was such a dick move

Agreed. And same, 33, been watching him since legitimately his second LP back when I was in high school.

He decided to do a FORTY PLUS PART LP of Steamboat Chronicles 6 years after it released, then got pissed it didn't get the views he was hoping for so he took his toys and went home.

On one hand, sure, that's your prerogative because it's free content we're consuming; but on the other hand don't get mad at us when no one asked for this massive slog of an unpopular game to be played.

I feel like he started dating that girl and it went to his head that he could be a big YT name, then that flopped hard with that LP so he got upset and quit. I still miss him cause the C2 or whatever stuff he does now with the girlfriend isn't the same.

His entire channel is pretty much 95% dedicated to Farming Simulator series. I like him because he plays on console like me, plays on Playstation like me, and he reminds me of me in that he is also older around 50 and laid back and calm. He can point out some valid criticism here and there but he primarily focuses on the positives and what he likes and he is more easily satisfied like me as an older gamer and we think stuff looks pretty awesome these days compared to our youth.

I also prefer his style. Other youtubers do heavily edited jumpcuts and have like 20 minute videos and they want to show a lot of progress. He tends to have longer videos ranging from 45 minutes to just under a full hour and he keeps cuts to a minimum. He will pick a few tasks to do that day and is content to show 10 minutes of mowing grass or baling while he chats and he balances his chatting about his plans for the farm on his let's play series and real life stuff.

He just has a great vibe and I love he covers all the mod updates which is A TON these days and since he is on console and on playstation I know it is accurate. He also does map tours and generally is very informative on anything in the game. I enjoy killing time at work and watching his content.

He is 100% a good dude, no controversy about him at all. Extremely calm and laid back and just loves the series like I do.

Is Game Grumps still a thing? I stopped watching shortly after Danny joined.

I liked him more than Arin, but he didn't add much in terms of video game conversation. It was mostly "ooh pretty colors" or a funny quip.

Yeah Arin and Dan are still at it. Arin mostly plays while Dan comments unless they are doing a co-op game. He's a good foil to Arin's over the top character. A lot of it in recent years sounds like they are on autopilot but they strike gold with certain games. They also have another channel called The Grumps where they do live action stuff.

An example of them recently striking gold, IMO, is their Supermarket Simulator series. It's legitimately always hilarious.
