Arguments for Alucard:

• he has a wide variety of attacks: swords and magic and dexterity
• he's got some nifty feats in the Castlevania anime, if you feel like arguing that
• he can steal DK's soul, and make him his slave

Arguments for DK:

• he can clobber Alucard if Alucard gets too close
• Elephant Bananza can suck up Alucard's Mist form (??)
• if DK shoots Alucard, it's gonna hurt

Last topic DK got revenge on the puny human child and his puny captive animal buddies. Today we have Alucard. The half-vampire has a varied toolkit that can handle anything in Dracula's Castle, but is DK an altogether different kind of beast? Perhaps the same could be said of all religions...

i am entirely including anime feats because they're in his actual mercs build here. he can kind of just kite DK around and then have crissaegrim come in from the side to do some stabbing, cutting, etc. and alucard is fast. even in close range, I think Alucard has the advantage because DK is most certainly not immune to being sliced. also alucard can just like, fly.

i recommend the following clip, watching the two scenes from 1:06 to 2:10 which are entirely spoiler-free, for some pretty nonchalant alucard combat. he just like, TKs crissaegrim around to fight a dude with a giant scythe while in cloud-of-bats form. 4:25-4:30 is also a specific instance of him moving so fast he leaves afterimages while fighting. If you don't care about spoilers for Nocturne S2 then keep watching from 4:30 until about 5:24.

This is a much tougher match than Red IMO. Maybe DK can win, maybe he can't, it's pretty tough. I think his physical might dwarfs Alucard's and he won't be able to escape very easily if grabbed, but IDK if DK can get his hands on Alucard without getting absolutely chopped up. I'm gonna wait for some arguments here.

I think the timeslow does let DK get in, since you can activate it then switch forms on the fly. So DK could go Snake, slow time, swap to Zebra to close the distance, then Kong and start manhandling Alucard.

And, you can chain timeslows, so basically DK has this as long as he can maintain Bananza.

DK trying to go hands-first at Alucard with the Crissaegrim is rough. Like, sticking your hand in a lawnmower rough. And if he does make it through, he can't just grab Alucard and wail on him like he could with a lot of other people since Alucard can just slip out as mist and go right back to acting like a blender.

Yeah but what if Alucard has the stopwatch as his subweapon

DK specifically has a counter to mist form in Elephant form. The elephant form vortex disperses gases, including poisonous mists, and it's powered by the Banandium Root's energy which has mystical and supernatural properties, so should work just fine against him. It's unclear if it would harm Alucard, kill him, or just CC him for however long it takes for him to recompose himself but I don't think it does anything at all here.

This is what I wonder too. DK's never struck me as a brilliant combatant necessarily. Not to say he'll make a bunch of errors, but I don't think of him as a strategist. Would he be able to think on the fly like this?

I just started season 2 of Nocturne and I've already got high respect for Alucard's TK Sword. DK may be able to blow mist, but this all goes according to The Plan

DK has great fighting instincts, yes. He is a an overwhelmingly good boxer just off them, adjusting quickly to the tricks of Little Mac, and Bananza requires he quickswap to complete multiple objectives. Nothing really indicates he'd be bad at using the tools he has (and he has Pauline to remind him of them if you think that's not enough, for whateve reason). Basically let me pose you this question: what showing does he have that suggests he can't fight adaptively? Being a big silly oaf doesn't diminish his battle prowess.

I picked that example precisely because he's supposed to lose it. DK starts that fight giving None Fucks (TM) and grandstanding, and when he dials it up, it's still at barely the level of 'he's annoyed'. He still gives Mac the fight of his life at that level. We see what DK looks like when fully tryharding in Bananza's home stretch and it's way above that in both how he adapts to complexities and how much he brings to the table. If DK giving few fucks can still make a super technical fighter sweat that hard, why would he not use his full breadth of skill and fighting instincts in a fight to the death?

I would like an official ruling from rwlh that it actually is a fight to the death. This isnt labeled as a Mercs topic, and nothing in the OP states anything about this being a fight to the death or using Mercs rules generally. In previous topics in this series rwlh has been very cagey about the conditions, basically stating that anything not explicitly defined in the OP is open to individual interpretation.

You are correct. I've always wanted these topics to be more flippant than Mercs or other comparable fight topics. Kanzaris is free to interpret this as a fight to the death if they want, but if somebody else wants to interpret it differently, they can. All that I ask is that participants act respectfully and vote honestly.

Combat skill isn't really a function of smarts. I don't think anyone would argue Sora from Kingdom Hearts has way better combat instincts than Alucard. Sora is also way dumber than Alucard is.

Look I am the biggest bulwark of support you could ask for for DK.

Alucard. There's just too many things Alucard could do and the dude's got knocked multiple rooms through Dracula's castle before and walked it off. I think DK can get in a good hit and zebra is a better speed option than wolf. In pretty much every other category, Alucard has some way of countering DK.

Pauline embarrasses Faerie at singing, though.

I mean yes DK is an adept fighter but like, what do I do when my opponent turns into mist is not something hes encountered unless that just straight up happens in bananza. Oh Ill suck up this mist that could be poison for all I know and hope it does something advantageous is like, not something I would give most fighters credit to do, not just DK

There is precedent in DKC3, where Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong turn into Ellie the Elephant to drink a weird waterfall creature named Squirt and then shoot his squirt water back in his eyeballs, blinding him until he spits out a jet ski.

I'm not saying it's a GOOD idea, but there IS a reason to assume that if a Kong transforms into an elephant, they can identify someone made out of liquid can be sucked and spat back out. Mostly because a literal toddler has done it before.

Shield Rod + Alucard Shield = An Invincible Alucard that deals way more damage then the Crissaegrim could ever dream of.

Well DK can just use one of those invincibility barrels from DK64 and use infinite crystal coconuts cheat, boom, stalemate.
