Making up a fake racist slur and then using it a lot and laughing because "ha ha it's like I'm racist" is a real shitty joke. It's normalizing the idea of racism as a funny idea by getting people to use fictional terms. This kind of shitposting is how we got into this shithole, kids thinking racism is funny because that's what the internet taught them.

Yeah, tbh, I'm not really a fan, when I'm actually pretty convinced that robots will rise up to meet the definition of what a human is, one day. When they do reach that threshold, I want humanity to greet them as friends, especially since, in reality, they will represent an evolution of humanity. No one probably remembers, but I was spouting this off many, many years ago, and the people probably thought I was being silly, but I was fully serious about this.

It's a word they use in Leviathan on Netflix that came out this season, is that why it is suddenly in vogue? Would be a bit weird since that show is pretty mid.

people arent saying it's directly racist. they're saying it's evocative of real, harmful racist language, and that "that's the point" does not sit right with them

Lol I actually think in the bad version of all this, which will occur thanks to unfettered capitalism, automation and AI will make a lot of people's lives worse economically. So hating this thing or whatever simply for existing may be justified this one time lmao

Originally debuted as a slur against the robots in the Star Wars Clone Wars series.

Notably I'm saying that in the story that's fine; fictional racism has a point in fiction. It can denote villains, decry racism and showcase a harsh world.

We shouldn't be saying it over and over online to giggle about roleplaying racists, that's messed up and kids on the internet are getting the wrong idea. That's part of what gave Trump such a shocking vote with younger people.

Well that and probable election fraud, Elon really knew those machines after all... says Trump himself.

It was funny to kids way before the internet, because it made adults upset. Literally anything they get mad about that doesn't have immediately visible effects is going to be something rebellious teens are going to want more of.

We should come up with less race-adjacent, but just as demeaning and offensive, slurs for the current crop of junk LLM, the people who force them on us, and the people who love them.

"Pretending to be racist" is sort of the foundation for how so many guys started believing their own bullshit and became chuds in the first place. It's using a concept of racism as a meme, and trivializes actual racism.

So its racist to say clanker now? I dont think people are saying it to role play racism, theyre saying it cus theyre sick of seeing AI everywhere

Some of their humor in their videos can be edgy and offensive, but I strongly doubt any of them are actually racist considering how diverse the group itself is. In the crew and their immediate friend circle, they've got an Asian guy (Vanoss), a Jewish guy (FourZero), an Arab guy (Blarg), a Hispanic guy (Lui Calibre), multiple black guys (Basically and Grizzy), multiple European guys (Nogla and Terroriser), and a woman (Pasta), and I'm probably forgetting some too.
