That'd be nice - but the prospect of her knocking off Sullivan for a senate seat would be cooler. Thankfully the efforts to repeal ranked-choice have failed, and Juneau is actually considering switching to it for local elections. --- https://i.imgur.com/qUAL3fG.gifv ... Copied to Clipboard!

Won't believe it till I see it. With Florida and Ohio now no longer swing states Democrats need to pick up a state elsewhere. jefffan posted... Won't believe it till I see it. I think the goal has to be to try and win back any states that went for Trump in 2024 but voted for Biden in 2020. As far as I can see that's: Nevada (Trump won by 3%) Arizona (Trump won by 5.53%) Wisconsin (Trump won by 0.87%) Michigan (Trump won by 1.41%) Pennsylvania (Trump won by 1.71%) Georgia (Trump won by 2.2%) And then of course you can't get complacent in the states with the narrowest margins of victory in 2024 either. The margins in New Hampshire and Minnesota were under 5%, and the margins in Virginia, New Jersey, New Mexico, and Maine were under 10%. It is crazy to see that the vote in NJ was that close, and Democrats obviously have a lot of work to do - fighting for reproductive and LGBTQ rights, while important, simply is not enough to carry them anymore. It is promising to see some areas becoming more liberal and rejecting the MAGA bullshit (Sarah Palin was MAGA before Trump was, frankly). I'm just hoping we see it in some other places. Georgia had Stacey Abrams...hopefully Texas has someone like that --- Not changing this sig until the Knicks win the NBA Championship! Started 4/23/2010! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania I think will be bellwethers for a while. Every president elected since 2008 has carried all three. Nevada has a history of being a bellwether since 1912 only Carter in 1976 and Trump in 2016 won the presidency without carrying Nevada and honestly I think Nevada will continue to be a state that whoever wins will likely win the presidency. Georgia and Arizona I don't think there really is enough information yet to figure out whether they are going to be bellwethers or if them going blue in 2020 was just a one off occasion. As far as Texas goes I don't think that one will be competitive anytime soon. You do have some large cities such as Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and El Paso which are strong Democrat however a lot of those cities have suburbs which are strong Republican. Case in point Harris county has Houston within it and Harris won it by 5-6 points. Dallas County is surrounded by other counties which are huge and not only go Republican, but go Republican big. Then you have a lot of major cities that go strong Republican. Cities like Fort Worth, Waco, Corpus Christi, Lubbock, and Amarillo. You have to think Democrats realize right now spending a lot of money on Texas would be a waste. Especially when you could go to Georgia or Arizona and have success. Maybe there is some way to eventually get Texas competitive but right now I just don't see it happening. --- I wish I was over yonder with my cronies The above sig was made so I could put yonder and cronies in a sig ...
