Shouldn't they be called something other than "game reserve" if there is no hunting? I would have assumed that "game" in this context referred to hunting.

It's more of a resort, while they also manage their own reserve. Though the reserve itself is also a bit of a tourist attraction where people can hitch rides on guided tours to see the wild life in that reserve

Imo I think this mostly happened because safaris are always inherently dangerous, especially at reserves.

People often forget that a lot of those animals are either territorial or very temperental. Things can go south very quickly if people do not give those animals their space and naturally that's a hard thing to pull off if there's a bunch of tourist around them even if they are in motorized vehicles an elephant would have no problem challenging people if they feel threatened.

Yeah when I hear game reserve, I think of a place where rich people go to hunt endangered animals. Ive never heard of game be used in relation to not hunting an animal. Even Wikipedia differentiates between game reserve and nature reserve based on if hunting is allowed.
regardless I dont see evidence on google that hunting was an activity done there, just sightseeing and whatnot. I didnt look very hard though
