Stupidly easy matches, although I think I get Second Wind more now. I like the strikes that start at 0:49, and the hesitancy of the piano at 2:22. It's a rare Sonic song thats opposed to diving headfirst into the battle.

I appreciate Loch to Tabibito and The Shores of Heaven for what they do, and Second Wind might be one of the most unfortunate matchups in the contest. Precipice is either my #1 or #2 in the whole bracket depending on how I feel about The Best is Yet to Come (as my opinion on emotionally driven music can waver depending on my mood)

I went out today unexpectedly, and didn't get a chance to place my votes, but for posterity:

Yurucamp Have a nice day! - Loch to Tabibito receives rank 12 of 33. I hate to call a song "pretty" because it sounds reductive, but Tabibito is very pretty. It's an idyllic day at the end of summer when you know it's going to be time to return to school next week, but right now everything is care-free and stress-free (aside from the awareness that this time is coming to an end.) And then...HEY GUYS WAZZUP! KEY CHANGE!! I feel like the song *really* calls attention to that key change and the mood shift that comes with it, and it's a bit much. Kinda drowns out what the song had been doing so peacefully before that. 7.6/10

Epic Loon - Evil nutshells with hay fever vs all people named Renee receives rank T-27 of 34. RIP my poor North. I like Carpathians a little more, but Renee is also decent. It's all over the place without *feeling* all over the place, which is how I'd describe Carpathians. The fact that Renee is a bit more tame is possibly to its detriment in this case. I kinda want to know what's up with that kitty airbender on the album cover, though. 5.8/10

Minecraft: Tricky Trials - Precipice receives rank 1 of 35. During the supra contest, I said after round 1 that I didn't completely get the love for Precipice, and I think I may have been confusing it with another song, because it's hard not to feel energized by the upbeat vivacity of Precipice. It went on to win that contest, and I wouldn't be completely surprised if it did the same here. At the very least, I don't see much here that's going to stand in its march to retirement. 9/10

Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizons - Second Wind: Sonic Mvt. receives rank 15 of 36. Not exactly what I think of when it comes to Sonic music. Other than the first 50 seconds, which sounds like a completely different song, it feels like something I'd hear at a rich person's party or in a lounge, with a four-piece group that isn't supposed to call too much attention to themselves, but also doesn't want all the people there to completely ignore them, and just starts jamming out. 7.3/10

Doom: Legacy of Rust - The Shores of Heaven (Sanguine Wastes) receives rank 28 of 37. You never know what you're going to get from WAD tracks. I appreciate a lot of tracker-based music, and I think Shores of Heaven is decent, but in this particular case I think the soundfont is holding the track back. On higher quality samples, I could see really grooving to this mood, but as it is, it's merely passable. 5.9/10

Secret of Mana (2018) - Did You See the Ocean? receives rank 9 of 38. Oh boy. Most of you know my love of the original Secret of Mana soundtrack. The 2018 remixes are mostly a travesty in my mind due to their faithlessness to the originals. The two main exceptions are tracks that weren't very long to begin with -- Prophecy and One of Them is Hope. However, DYSTO is another track that is woefully underappreciated in the original due to only playing on one screen in the lead-up to a boss. The 2018 version starts off really good! Like, the fact that they took the original and just made it into an EDance works surprisingly well. Up until 1:40, I *really* like this version. The bass and synth solos that follow are kinda whatever, but I can accept them as a bridge. But where I take exception is when it brings in the main motif from Fear of the Heavens at 2:12, which just has no business being in this song and completely disrupts the flow of what it had going for it. I had this track on my considerations for support during nominations, but that one part really shakes me out of the vibe. If it went right from 2:11 to 2:39, I'd rate this much higher. 7.9/10
