After doing some research, I think if I use my selector on Galahad I could make a pretty good team with those four but subbing Ran for Lancelot (since I dont have her). Since Galahad provides a fat damage boost for 3 of her teammates she would work well with them

Had a fantastic spark on Granblue. Got all of the banner units (including three copies of the new summon), a couple other important summons, the last copy of a weapon (Causality Driver) that I wanted, a fair number of new characters, and my final flash banner grand.

I got all banner units in 140, 2 old seasonals I didn't have and 5 dupes of which 2 were Korwa. Would have sparked for Bastet but glad I didn't have to after having my last few sparks be pretty eh. Still miss 7 grands, including Olivia who would be nice to have, from this one and could use another overrider but saving is nicer when it's nothing really important.

Somehow the 2 banners I've been anticipating in Arknights and FGO are coming this week. Hopefully its not too painful.

Yeah I kind of want to roll on this arknights banner but also know meta wise really shouldn't as several broken units coming out next and neither Yu or Blaze are more than 'goodish'

I can't skip a Sui sibling or the new Blaze so I'm going all in. I should be able to get back to ~150 pulls on time for Mont3r even if I need to spark here. But man am I regreting now trying to get Thorns Alter and rolling in the recent celebration banner.

Yeah that boss fight sucks, but I've only gotten far enough to face it on normal campaign where RH destroyed the core immediately

Nice, I keep forgetting to check for these. Yeah, it definitely pays to be day 1 players in this, even though we missed out on getting certain units in banners with us having immediate parity to Korea

The Kitasan Black banner for Umamusume is finally here, and the more I read about it, the more I'm like ok... so the card is not nearly as good as the hype suggests if I don't have her at 3 LB lmao

Ok man, just tell me not to play the game without directly telling me not to play the game. It's crazy how much LB matters in this game.

Actually I've played a lot of Cygame's tragically killed game World Flipper. It was a pretty equally frustrating experience. They want to dangle that metaphorical carrot in your face. What you usually get is that you get tools that let you grind for more tools, which let you grind for more tools. Cygames have perfected the art of justifying grinds for more grind and distract you with crazy visuals. I know that's most gachas tbh. There's a reason Cygames' owning groups and affiliates had to move away from the Mobage name because there was a whole law named after how greedy their practices were.

I also have like 30 B+ to A ranked Daiwa Scarlet, and only one of them rolled Speed, and it was a 2 star. What a genius system this is

You'll want no less than 2, events in the future will give uncap materials you can use to bring her up to 4 with an anniversary pack of some sort allowing a 5th. Any extra copies you get beyond 2 either saves you money or the uncap material for something else good.

But yeah this game definitely follows the Genshin model of, "Better hope you get max constellations for some of these units or they're garbage". Thankfully my 200 pulls bore fruit and I've got MLB Kitasan.

Now if only I could roll good sparks, lol.

I want to partially amend my World Flipper criticism though. That game actually never really required a high number of LBs. That game just said if you didn't play this for a year straight, fuck you. I dunno what's worse, but it WAS actually f2p friendly... just that even 1 copy of nearly every high rarity units felt necessary to build half the shit in the game, which was where the only money throttle was.

Anyways, I did have some fun with Umamusume, but I think it's not a game that's fun for longer than about 15 hours, which is what I ended up playing. I got into the sim, understood what was good and what was bad, started to get so good that without a literal complete avoidance of rainbows from all of my 4 bars friendship supports or a machine gun of down mood events from that 1 fateful Scarlet run, I was winning every single campaign with 1100 speed just to see the worst sparks with like 2-3 white 1* sparks and 1* spark on the wrong stat for 20-30 runs, each spanning about 20 minutes. If this is the only content in the game, then I just don't see what's the point.

I think some of the music was great. I actually liked the instrumental versions in the menus and campaign more than the actual lyrics. I hate the Idol motif of completely changing the pitch or key signature for the sake of that "drop." But they were more tolerable as instrumentals.

The roguelike element was extremely interesting for a while. I think the magic quickly dies down the more you realize what works. It kinda rewards reading the flow rather than actually just choosing 1-2 training, and it's not super obvious when you should go for races rather than training. But I do feel like there are far too little reprieve for insurmountable bad luck, when each run takes so long. You only get to use your friends' units 3 times per day. I started to get perfect 1100+ stats wins without using my friends' units, which makes me wonder just how much of a crutch sparks are, but I know from reading previews that eventually a lot of things are designed assuming you did this stupid grind.

I'm ending it on a sour note after pulling 2 Kitasans, but it's like man... ok, the expectations don't feel right to me. It sets a bad pattern for things to come, and I'm dropping out long b4 things get worse

To counter that, had the worst day in Nikke so far, 140 straight banner draws with no SSR hits and just a few trash units in total, for a nice 1.7% (base 4% for any SSR), sigh

Erm, actually I was below the rate on all 5 banners I tried today (BD2 banner / selective / weapon / Nikke banner / standard) despite the 4x pull

Oh well, at least I still got the new Dorothy and a dupe of Crown/Modernia after I caved and got more gems

The daily free pull in the new Arknights banner got me Yu, lol. Ended up dumping another 90 rolls for Blaze, a second Yu, and a Typhon spook.

Hopefully I'm that lucky tomorrow in the FGO summer banner.

I was disappointed with how lame the Nier event story was

Well, HBR has sadly been a part of some pretty negative news. They basically nerfed the best buff/debuffs in the game. In total, because the buffs have been changed to being additive now instead of multiplicative, these buffs have lost 2/3 of their original power. In fairness, they were really powerful because they were multiplicative, which means you can stack them (twice max each) and do a gazillion damage

It's funny cuz right b4 this fiasco, there were also a lot of opinions on twitter that the game has become too trivialized because most people playing this for 3.5 years have built a team that can pretty much beat any content imaginable. I think even in JP still, Inori SS2 can basically sweep any content with the right team around her, so it's been difficult for the game to motivate people to pull for additional units. They already earned bank off the game, but they're probably currently operating on a near loss, considering they never really let up on the amount of content being put into the game and running all the shows and merch around it. Jun Maeda still does most of the compositions and half the writing himself, so like I guess in some sense the company is still probably well off.

Anyways, the things that did get nerfed are Multi-hit buffs, expose debuff, and tactical vision buff. In the current JP tier list, these are all things being used by half the top tier buff/debuffers, like Diva Ruka, Suit Tama (who was released years ago in JP and meta all this time), Miya SS2 (who was released B4 Suit Tama and still a top tier debuffer), etc.

I think the biggest problem for me with this. The best buffs probably needed to be nerfed long b4 their 3.5th fucking anniversary lmao. Maybe you curb them slightly along the way rather than just cutting their effectiveness by 66%. A lot of people in modern JP meta was just straight up killing everything in turn 3 from max DP. Also the other problem is that there were almost no buffed mechanics. The only one that was buffed was large fields, like one being put on by Yukata Megumi for Fire, etc. They now give 80% buff from 65% buff.

All units now have the ability to equip other Memorias, so that's a bit more reprieve for units that lost a lot of usefulness I guess. Ruka SS4, who provided tactical vision, got buffed to have an extra turn, which makes her work with 30-G units, who provide buffs during extra turns.

Oh, and people were also mad that Aoi got a swimsuit memoria, mostly cuz she's also confirmed to eventually get a white suit leader form teased during 3rd anniversary that all the leaders of squads are getting. The problem with this as well was that all of 31-B got a Swimsuit except her and Byakko (who got an S in the same banner... but she's a tiger lol so she just has a snorkel which is cute). So Aoi was kinda unintentionally just confirmed to get 2 due to her status as the most popular girl and just a leader of 31-B.

But because she came with the nerfs, people kinda ended up construing this as like a consolation prize, and obviously Aoi is a sensitive subject for a lot of people so... it would be criminal to treat her as a means to calm angry people down. I'd be shocked if anybody boycotts an Aoi banner of all things.

I don't know much about the game, but the people that invested heavily / pulled hard for those units because of how good the buffs were are probably pissed as hell now lol

Part of the danger of power-creeping in these games. Klukai broke GFL2 and Olivia broke Horizon Walker, gets kind of hard to make more must-pull units after that

I'd say like most people in the comments were furious. One person brought up something as similar as you have said, that some people saved up a long time or paid for characters that might not even be usable anymore. If they were gonna do this, they'd probably need to straight up offer a system that refunds almost everything some people have used for some characters, either via a non-expiring selection ticket or a refund of all the in-game currency including gems. So far they haven't said anything about it, so this might lead to some serious exodus from the game.

I think the problem is people enjoy the writing, music, and the visuals more than they like the combat, but all the gachas are centered entirely around the combat. I think the combat in this game is pretty fun if you don't have everything so maxed that you just one shot everything. There are lots of elements of planning like 5-6 turns ahead and figuring out ways to survive til then, but JP units are so good that people are bypassing the survival aspect and just essentially getting infinite turns by abusing a certain mechanic.

The combat was done by the people who did Another Eden, which tbh was popular in its own right for a few years and still running. I heard that game had a lot of balancing problem as well. HBR's another big criticism was their excessively long and boring dungeons, because the battle system really doesn't allow for easily killing mobs, even though bosses, ironically, could be very quickly killed with limited usage skills, even though bosses hit significantly harder and have 100x more dp/hp.

We'll see. They had to walk back on a previously announced nerf. People thought that was the end of it to curb ppl getting infinite turns, but turns out there were more. I think they're probably gonna walk back on a lot of it once they realize the RPG aspect didn't have as much loyal fans as the visual novel aspect of it did.

The VN part is not money gated whatsoever. I know a lot of gachas, including Umamusume, money gates it by requiring the units, but none of the stories in HBR are actually tied to pulling them. Arguably they're the best part of the game cuz all the individual side mini-stories are extremely well written, and most of its massive cast manages to stand out in their own way. Maybe that is their mistake, but I won't blame them for not getting too greedy cough Uma

(Auto TL'ing live comments is really funny cuz JP people are so goddamn polite while almost entirely being negative about all the changes, some of them going well... I don't like any of these changes but I'll try them out, or wow, I can tell the management thought long and hard about it, but these changes sure suck)

For HBR, yeah, those changes are crazy, specially since they just implemented them in the game without announcing them previously. As far as I know the Overdrive changes were announced, and they didn't implement them after seeing the backlash.

Yep, that happened to me a lot starting from the Ran stage (before this one) and up
Usually I get past them by using more tank/hp pets (though you have to be careful since healers depend on those attack pets too). If Galahad dies just before ult, having Guinevere to resurrect her with her ult might work but her starting CD is higher
I have used multiple tanks to clear some levels for the extra D%

If you have some extra Rare Souls, you can use them to unlock more characters' training nodes that give global buffs so you can keep raising your D%. Also, always eat food before going out to get the extra 5% HP/ATK. Guild also gives buffs depending on level

For nature levels I switched to Kay for tanking since Galahad takes too much dmg, or I put Galahad in middle row

You could go multiple healers too, just make sure the weapons have Added Target II (or I if that's all you have) since they'll heal more that way. Dian Cecht, Isolde, Guinevere all really good for this

Yeah, the biggest struggle is often surviving before you can use your ults initially. Galahad's pet has saved me a few times with her damage reduction at the beginning of the map. Ethan's card gives Galahad 1 free res plus invincible for 2s at low heatlh

Actually Galahad is always my last survivor lol. Death order is always Neo Bedi > Merlin or Ran (I forget) > Tiamat > Galahad (she never dies, but Im always too impatient to wait for the stage to end lol). But yeah, Ethans card is ridiculous with Galahad lol

It's kinda crazy. I had a hard time with 24-36 also, but then as I was grinding Hard for exp, I was able to just fly by it again with no problem lol

But yeah, just gotta go hard defensively on that stage. Respec growth for max defense/HP (if possible). Once I was able to get Galahads ult off, I was able to pass the stage.

Yeah I didnt realize that I had hard and nightmare unlocked, so I grinded those until I got stuck again. But even that push couldnt get me through D:

Against my better judgement (since I want Mon3ter and Exusai Alter and Wis'adel, so I need to now get from 0 pulls to between 310-450 pulls by November...) I went and did about 100 pulls on Yu's banner.

110 pulls and two Blazes later I give up lol. It's a shame her kit's so bad (and requires Yu on top), normally I'd be thrilled to get a new Blaze. Maxed Surfer though, her kit looks interesting so I think I'm going to build her.

I'm going to regret these pulls in November and end up reaching for the wallet aren't I. >_>
