Well, P3R did a full recast, too, so it's not surprising P4R is doing the same. FFVIIR went the same route.

The only thing is, they had all of the VAs who originally voiced the protagonists voice other NPCs in P3 Reload. So they just... didn't do that here for some reason?

Technically he only said he wasn't returning as Yosuke

I'm guessing he probably won't be in the game now once Atlus finds out he leaked this though

A little annoyed at Yuri here actually, simply because he's implying her was begging to come back as Yosuke...yet he refused to come back as Yuri Lowell in Vesperia.

Troy Baker was Yuri Lowell. As for this I dunno what side character Lowenthal wouldve been a good fit for anyway

Yuri Lowenthal was Luke fon Fabre, and they specifically told him he wasn't voicing Yuri for that reason (or he was making a joke because of Yuri Lowell's name, not sure)

That was Troy Baker, who flat out said he wasn't even approached about returning

I def remember the con moment where troy baker was joking about how lowenthal didn't voice lowell lol.

I know a lot of people love the original cast, and I do too. But I think it's also nice for younger voice actors who haven't made it yet to get their shot. The P3R cast did a great job, and I suspect the P4R cast will too.

It's possible he will have some other role within the game, unless Atlus didn't approve him saying this. (It's possible they did. They already have a P4R website after all)

Probably worth noting that Yuri Lowenthal is in SAG-AFTRA now (who are still striking btw) so my best guess is honestly ATLUS doesn't want to pay union rates. Which is also why Troy Baker didn't get callbacks once he made it big.

Really confused by the severe backlash I'm seeing elsewhere about the idea that the VAs will all be changing after A) They already did it for P3 so pretty obvious they would do it here and B) almost the entire original cast is gone anyways, and some of these people....seem like the weren't even aware of that? Feels performative.

I guess folks are just in edge about the Strike and are just incorrectly assuming this is because of that.

the leak shouldn't even be a big deal because it was a matter of "when" the remake would come, not "if"

It still feels unprofessional though, and Ive got a feeling big companies arent going to want to hire or rehire him after seeing this.

It probably was against NDA. You often have to sign NDAs just to hear job offers in the first place, or his agency has long-term NDAs with studios.

I could see a reality where maybe he contacted someone at Atlus about it, possibly personally, and they spoke informally and nothing was ever signed. And that's probably why he didn't know he couldn't talk about it. Needless to say, that shouldn't have happened, and I bet a ton of heads are rolling all over the company.

Oh right SGF is next Friday. We'll see the trailer then.

They were always different in the JP version.

Nope. But both English and Japanese have MC, Pharos, and Ryoji all voiced by the same person for plot reasons.

Not too bothered by this although i was annoyed when they never got the original Claire back for RE2 Remake.

A bit mixed on this.

On the one hand, if youre doing a full remake nearly two decades later, a full recast is totally reasonable if not outright expected. Also Im not a fan of actors leveraging their personal fandoms and outrage culture against other creatives.

On the other hand, the history of certain companies effectively union busting with voice talent is well known so that may be why none of the original cast are seemingly returning for cameos like in Persona 3 Reload. If so thats bad, obviously.

I don't necessarily think that's what's happening here. I imagine all the VAs are being constantly asked if they're coming back. I doubt they think this will actually get their jobs back. Fans will be angry with Atlus either way regardless of when or how they find out.

Youre right that came off as a little bit more accusatory than I meant it. I was more meaning how when you post something like this in this way it can have that effect intentionally or otherwise. Fans are definitely getting angry either way though.
