I think it was less the nepotism and more that Jeff just felt awkward with his friend out there, and might have also been because Mike had influenced a past season (changing Redemption Island on SJDS to Exile Island). Plus Mike may have had inside information about production that they didn't want players to have.

True. And I wonder, if he actually tried to win, if he could have. Which would make it feel bad if he did have any advantage.

Mike wins that season if he wanted to. But either he felt bad for Nick or the writer in him thought that a David winning was a better story, and he threw FTC.

Well thats why hed make a great returner. His advantages would be mostly neutralized and hes one of my favorite character

Looking at the interviews, it looks like Joe and Eva never had a chance at all and Kyle, Kamilla, Mitch, and Shauhin all realized that their best chance of winning was against Joe and Eva. That makes everything make sense as to why nobody ever made a move. They realized that the best move was to sit next to Joe and Eva at the end.

Yeah the entire finale until the votes my mom was complaining that they were handing Joe the win (she was rooting for Kamilla so extra mad). And it just never felt that way to me, like I posted in last topic i tried explaining to her about Kyle's game and moves and ability to sway jury, if anyone was actually swayable. Still very surprised Joe only got one vote though.

It is pretty great that we had two duos lasting until the very end without either backstabbing. Even if it's because one was guaranteed to fail and the other had the winner. Tough to keep that level of loyalty going all the way in Survivor.

All in all I liked season, definitely more than this Amazing Race season.

I like seeing why characters lose more than why the winners win

Mainly because Survivors such a solved game and the way to win the game is just...kind of boring.

The few crazy idiots who try to win a different way are the real reason the show is still worth watching.

In retrospect Joe and Eva lost the game at the David vote but it almost doesnt matter to me because I also think Joes kinda right - a top alliance doesnt NEED to backbite to win and this being the firsr FTC where all 3 got votes in ages kinda vindicates that

This season shows why I don't like the "strategy" focused seasons. It gets so redundant and makes it hard to care about anyone. This season made me care about a lot of the cast and thus I enjoyed it way more than 47.

What made 47 so bad is that it was a strategy focused season where the strategy sucked. So it was the worst of both worlds.

this has been my favorite 41+ season. my three favorite players made the top three, so that helps a lot. i also liked 47 a lot, too, for different reasons, though it fell off a bit once Rome left. Andy was great too but couldn't quite carry the season the way Rome could.

I think this is a product of the stale season formatting as much as anything.

Everyone knows how to handle this fake merge situation, everyones just trying to survive til 8 and then if the top 5 have done their jobs its a stomp barring advantages which people have increasingly been unable to play successfully.

Even rooting for Joe and Eva, Kyles win coming via his wits and not via an idol or advantage was far more satisfying than Rachels win.

I agree that Kyles win was better than Rachels but I do think 47 was a better season overall. Thats not to say its a good season by any means, but Kamilla was the only person I really resonated with towards the end whereas last season I can say I enjoyed Genevieve, Andy, Sam, and to a lesser degree Rachel.

If Andy hadnt gotten played by Rachel and told her about his impending jury story, the season would have potentially been an all-timer.

The problem with 47 is that the cast didn't click. Outside of Rome, they were too kumbayah in the most boring way, and I attribute that to it being one of the youngest casts on record with minimal diverse perspectives. There were two stellar episodes with a bunch of filler the rest of the way.

Survivor works best when there's conflict, people to like AND people to hate, and a lot of fun little moments that tell us things about these people. A recent season that had a lot of all of those was 46. A recent season that had little of this was 47. A recent season that had some of this - and a LOT of depth of character for those who made endgame - was 48. (45 also had a fair bit of all of that.)

Was a fan of the Kyle/Camilla alliance so seeing Kamilla mouth "I got you" was sooo satisfying. Reaaaally glad they were not bitter against each other tbh. I do like the drama but it was a good change of pace for these finalists to be good people in this cast and have really solid relationships

I hated at the times that throughout the season they kept showing kyle say that hes on both sides, but in the end it made sense to me cause all 4 ended together

Loved the lawyer/phd reveal to joe scene, we laughed so much

David got me, we made fun of him all season, but when he lost the face we laughed so much. I think he felt that way for the first few TCs after he got voted out but glad he kept it up till now.

I like when Jeff is wrong so kinda wish that Jeff wasnt so encouraging to Camilla in the F5 challenge. Wouldve been so satisfying if Jeff said she was dead last and it was a disaster for her like he does to people way behind usually, the inconsistency with the commentary was a bit stuck in my mind

Sad to me that no one was really helpful/encouraging to camilla during fire when they were so much to Eva

Happy that Eva and Joe got 2 + 1 votes, always like it when it's more than 1 + 0

While i thought there were too many scenes with idol puzzles and wished there were more relationship explanations at camp scenes, my partner isnt really engaged with camp life so i guess its good to break up the monotony for someone watching like her? She doesnt like them either and calls it rigged but shes definitely more engaged and has stronger opinions on those

It really would have been sad if anyone in this F3 got 0 votes (or Kamilla had she made it) because they all would have been solid winners.

pretty satisfied with that group overall, i have a few comments, mostly about multi-time returnees, but i apparently have maxed out on spoiler tags for one post so i'll just omit them

The only two people on that list that I would genuinely actively not want to see are Charlie and Ozzy (and maybe kinda Cirie and Aubry but only because I feel pretty burnt out on them and not because I dislike them) so if that is accurate I'd be fairly satisfied, pending whichever other 3-5 players make it of course.

I have no issues with Charlie personally but I definitely think Ozzy shouldnt be there (Malcolm should be instead) and Cirie is just oversaturated, especially with her already being on Aus v the World).

Oh and I'm actually pleasantly surprised that the cast IS pretty recency biased. 6/15 on that list are New Era, plus Christian, Angelina and Chrissy have not had a returnee season that they were eligible for since their season aired, so they may as well be.

Chrissy is the person I'm happiest to see on the list, especially since iirc she said she wouldn't play again at one point.

rumor is that they dropped out or got dropped. there was speculation that they might be trying to get another micronesia female, which got some people frothing over the idea that Natalie Bolton could be coming back. If that's the case I honestly wouldn't mind Tracy getting a second chance too tbh. Tracy is imo one of the most robbed higher-potential players. but no idea where that speculation is at right now so probably just rumours in the wind

I mean its not like they havent TRIED to get Earl back. They asked him back for Game Changers and he said at that point he was only interested in doing an all winners season. Then that happened and he went through casting but had to drop out late because his wife gave birth prematurely.

Good news Inviso: started watching Traitors AU S1 with the folks, 3 eps in and I am really enjoying and my sense is my parents are too.

(Funnily enough it ended up that they have watched the second season at some point because they recognized the host. They didnt seem to have an issue with its quality but they are more casual in their reality-viewing habits...)

what's really shocking is that jesse and carolyn (or even omar) didn't make it on. so many people would've said they were locks. shan too. there's apparently all sorts of rumours about *why* they're not back, shan makes the most sense because she's apparently mega toxic, but still, generally CBS will bring whoever will get them viewers is what i'd think so they'd forgive any issues||

i really don't need to see more 4th and 5th timers (especially some of these) and i think having winners back is dumb but whatever. why are you bringing back a duo literally a week after everyone saw them dominate the game together? it just sets them up to be voted out immediately. (nevermind that joe, despite their being shady with him, was also their ally and probably someone they still really like) it's so dumb. i thought with waiting so long for a returnee season it'd be because it was easier for them to spread out the cast for less pre-gaming and stuff but i guess they don't care at all. can't believe i even had my hopes up slightly for this.
