Welcome to Rank the Ace Attorney characters where you submit to me a ranked list of Ace Attorney Characters from those listed below. I will compile the results, and we'll see how everyone ranks.

Rules:

1. Please try to use the format below OR submit a spreadsheet to me with the numbers next to their name. Feel free to use pastebin as well. PLEASE PM ME THESE LISTS DO NOT SUBMIT IN THIS TOPIC
2. You do NOT have to rank every character on the list. Just the ones you feel comfortable ranking. Leaving a character off a list will not do much harm to them unless the majority of people do not rank them.
3. Ranking a character lower hurts them more than not ranking them at all.
4. If you want to make changes after you've submitted your list, please post the entire list again unless you're switching just two characters
5. If you want to do write-ups for any characters, feel free to submit them to me. I will include any and all that I receive.
6. Certain characters are paired together. You can rank them together, or you can rank them separately. I will leave it up to you. They will 'inform' each other in the rankings, so as to not hurt their standing.
7. There will be a primary list and a secondary list. If you just want to rank major characters, you can just use the primary list. You can then pick and choose from the secondary list as you like.
8. Lists are due Friday June 13th, 2025 at 5:00 PM PT. If you need an extension, please ask.
9. Please do not use a Period after your number ranking. This makes it easier for me to tally
10. Please submit to me the lists via pm.

FAQ:

Q: There's a character I want to rank that isn't on the list, can I?
A: Yes! But you might want to ask me first if they will count.

Q: If I submit a list with fewer ranks, will my list be worth less than someone who lists all the characters?
A: No. As long as your list isn't too small, your list will have similar weight as any other list.

Q: I've only ever played one Ace Attorney game. Can I still submit a ranking?
A: Absolutely!

Q: What happens if i list an ineligible character?
A: I delete them from the list, and move everything else up one spot.

Q: How did you decide what characters were on the list?
A: We had a topic to discuss it.

I should be able to do original trilogy and both Investigation games at the very least, probably also Apollo and both 3DS games, but need a refresher. Also got through case 4 of Adventures, but that was also a while ago

I will be ranking Shoe, for sure. He is legitimately more important to a case's plot than probably 1/4 of the characters already deemed eligible.

To be fair, it's a nice plant.

Also got through the second case of AAI tonight. It's weird being on the other side of Edgeworth's gestures.

Not too far into things, but this feels a lot less fun than Persona. The Social Links and choosing who to actively spend time with made for a lot more familiarity and favoritism. You spend months with them helping each other grow while dealing with crazy cases. Everyone will have wildly different takes.

Here... eh, I dunno. I nominated a lot of chaff last time, and maybe it's just being in the first game right now, but the chaff feels higher than about half the characters already.

We got through two cases tonight. Teen Franziska is adorable!

AAI beaten! Just in time for my wife's birthday tomorrow.

Last case started off strong, but then I felt it dragged on a bit too long.

Did not expect to see Gregory Edgeworth again.

I'm impressed you managed to avoid that for all these years because it wasn't exactly a secret he's in that game

If I heard about it, I since forgot it.

Making progress! My wife is way better at this than I am. Then it's back to GAA, which I did the tutorial case then kind of dropped the game. (Actually did more of AAI than I thought, because a lot of it was familiar. Didn't realize I got past the second case but the third case was very familiar)

BTW I am extremely unimpressed with the presentation of PW:DD thus far. Why can't you examine every random thing in the background any more? Why is it that in the first game for the system whose whole gimmick is 3D are you suddenly not able to rotate the evidence in 3D?

Yeah, DD really streamlined the investigation segments, which was unfortunate. Don't worry, SoJ brings all that stuff back.

There's so much wrong with AAI2-5. Game peaked with the third case, was still pretty good in case 4 and then kind of underperformed in the finale. It tries so hard to be a spiritual sequel to 2-4, but in my opinion it really misses the mark.

Up for self reminder.

Making pretty good progress in GAA.

For the third case, The wife insisted We say McGilded was innocent. I was surprised it didn't ask for evidence, and disappointed the choice didn't matter.

Pretty happy with the PWAA Trilogy ranking, without yet factoring in any other games. Debating whether to continue despite not completing any of the other series (AJAA and PWDD, but not PWSoJ or DLC case / AAI but not AAI2 / Only 3 cases of GAA)

So how come Shah'do isn't on the list when all the other pet characters are?

Got through GAA1. Solid game, Last case was pretty great.

They want you to feel bad for Ashley Graydon, but he was willing to let Gina die for his crime. I feel like the writers often forget that when they try to make characters sympathetic. Similiarly, Roly from the previous case you're supposed to sympathize with I think but he tampered with a crime scene. He might have been sympathetic if he had come out with it earlier. I know that's not how the gameplay works, but still makes it hard to sympathize with either of them.

Also got through the tutorial of GAA2. So hoping we can get through it by June 3rd or so. Which is plenty of time for me to start my list.

GAA2-1 is low key a fantastic case
