Retail pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 24, 2025. At launch, the price for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will remain as announced on April 2 at $449.99, and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will remain as announced at $499.99. Pricing for both physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will also remain unchanged at launch.

However, Nintendo Switch 2 accessories will experience price adjustments from those announced on April 2 due to changes in market conditions. Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions.

We apologize for the retail pre-order delay, and hope this reduces some of the uncertainty our customers may be experiencing. We thank our customers for their patience, and we share their excitement to experience Nintendo Switch 2 starting June 5, 2025.

They paused pre-orders to try and figure out whether they were going to have to hike the price because of tariffs. The worry is that they were going to hike the price, not leave it at the same or lower it.

Yeah, the high MK price got people so up-in-arms that the "DROP THE PRICE" spammers started doing it for the console.

But most were predicting/hoping that it would be between $399 and $499, and that's exactly what we got.

I'm happy the price wasn't changed. At least for now...

Hoping to pick up the Mario Kart bundle next week. Will also probably pick up a pro controller. Doesn't look like the price went up much for accessories?

They didn't raise the price of the system but all accessories have gone up unfortunately. They probably trying to offset the console cost with those now

Good news. I already signed up for the Nintendo Store preorder queue back when they first announced it, but I was definitely still going to be watching retail websites to try to get one that way. I'm just glad the price isn't going any higher (though I will say that I thought said price was fair already - not great, mind you, just fair).

I see the posts about accessories going up in price, but I luckily wasn't planning to get anything but the system at launch, since there's a 99% chance I'll be playing alone most of the time (though I'll probably end up needing to get at least one extra pair of Joycons sooner rather than later).

Glad the price isn't jumping. I'm going to hold off canceling my Amazon UK order until I lock one in here on the 24th though. I'm worried it will be dropped at random times during the night and sell out immediately.

Yeah I think getting this at launch will be a mistake. The launch line up outside of probably Mario Kart just doesn't look good at all. I see no rush to snag it.

I've been waiting to play TOTK at higher res/fps.

The Switch 1 Pro Contoller should still work right?

That's a big reason I'd like to have one now, as I haven't played BotW since it first launched (hard to believe it's been over eight years) and would love to be able to play through it again at a much better framerate (and while I could easily play it on PC, I've never wanted to to down that route). Same with some of the other games that are potentially getting enhancements, such as Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, which I still haven't played, though I don't think there was any confirmation that the updates they're getting for Switch 2 actually do anything for performance.

Joycons are made in China, so

The Switch is the only Nintendo console I got within a few months of launch.

Everything else has been a year+ later. I did get a few 3DS models on release date but the original 3DS I didn't get until the first newer model.

I do not see myself getting a Switch 2 for a while.

Oh nice, hope my preorder goes through.

Curious if the 8bit Do controllers will also work. I got one for my Switch cause my Pro controller got some janky control stick drift (of course) and I love the thing. The Switch imo has the worst controllers of all major companies imo. Joy cons are a joke and the Pro controller is good until it stops working properly. I couldn't play Dread to 100% because shine sparking didn't work on mine.

Meanwhile my Wii U Pro controller is *chef's kiss*

So far, there's the Fomo of missing the Mario Kart bundle for $500 (instead of $450 + $80). Nintendo noted that the bundle will only be available until Autumn.

Better get one early because they will absolutely raise the price later and it won't be pretty.

Edit: I'm going to try to get a launch edition of the MK bundle because I haven't bought a Mario Kart game since MK7 on 3DS. I also want to play Xenoblade Chronicles X at 60FPS.

Have they confirmed if Switch 1 Joy-Cons and other controllers will work with it? Even if they can't attach to the console to charge, I have a charging base for them that I can use.
