I don't know what to say other than that I think you guys have a slightly lacking grasp of the english language. it's not a puzzle or wordplay it's just a slightly strangely written sentence meant to be taken at face value

my current progress (it's pretty lategame I think so click at your own risk). it's a poem, found in an underground area

I mean you can't just say those fighting words and not actually refute pretty legitimate concerns. You can't just ignore that:

Room 8 has the letter m which is flipped sideways to 3, which is the same as infinity sign being flipped sideways to 8. Can you legitimately deny that one can be a sign to the other? So you can't even eliminate the possibility that it's not the number of letters in a sin.

Can you deny that the word "each" doesn't somehow refer to the concept of distribution, as in one word can have one letter and the other can have other letter? If you did, then you would be the one at odds with the English language, not me lol. Cambridge defines it as "every thing, person, etc. in a group of two or more, considered separately." In a sentence, when 2 conditionals are placed before the word "each," the latter half only needs to fulfill one of the conditions and the sentence makes sense, not necessarily both. If it's both, you literally say both, not each, PLEASE address this if you want to insult my mastery of the English language somehow.

If you cannot eliminate those ones, you also can't reasonably place the lion one which has 2 possibilities. Any word that has the length of the word stretched reasonably touching the sides of the boxes can apply, which means it could be placed in 3 different spots

Listen, you guessed, and you got it right the first time. I thought of it a little longer and couldn't deny that there were literally several sets of answers that can fit according to logic stated on the riddles themselves. That's all I'm saying

If you look at the clock puzzle, THAT has one answer. Room 8 does not. You can't just say things and completely dismiss legitimate concerns. I'm just saying it's a really terribly worded and constructed puzzle compared to everything else. Room 8, A New Clue, I don't really see anybody out there that thinks these are well constructed. If you google those rooms specifically, everybody in the comments and reddit thinks it's "moon logic." Perhaps you're from the moon, we are not

The letters on the tramp stamp of the Cloister, the I I 0 0 note on the Blackbridge, the CA T as you've said. Those combined I only have 3 letters left to figure out. No clue how

(where - is a blank space for formatting). maybe this is all of it? I still don't know what it actually means though lol

Feel Im reaching an endpoint where I can no longer progress unless I look things up.

Ive done everything I can think of other than the following (endgame spoilers)

Reading the note in the Freezer that I havent been able to melt

reading the diary of the lady

finding the throne room.

bedroom/aquarium clue? Dont know what this is
last classroom

but everything Ive found so far has just been flavour text and doesnt help with progressing any further.

still have 1 safe to find, 3 vault keys. I know where the vault keys are just need the conditions to spawn them. No idea where the safe is. No idea where the information to make the sigils are. No idea about the CASTLE clue. No idea about the remaining clues in A New Clue. No idea about Curse of Black Bridge.

if I'm remembering correctly, you have all 3 microchips, which should pretty directly help with one of these. in case you didn't realize - there are two different places you can use them

Sigils are basically a game-spanning puzzle so it's impossible to really hint. you will need a book from the library that helps explain the parts of a sigil, and then you just need to gather as much info as you can. some of what you are calling "flavour text" might actually be relevant here - stamps, newspaper clippings, room decorations, books, classrooms, etc are all full of useful information

No idea about the CASTLE clue.
you probably don't really need it yet. you will find more hints to point to it later down the line. but you can also solve it now, it's a lot more straightforward than you might think, just look around the room and think a little

Curse of Black Bridge.
This one I'm like 90% sure is mostly just flavour text

Day 22 finished and I feel like I've made a lot of progress over the last few days. I was struggling with the music room stuff, but I eventually figured it out and had the 6, 7, and 8 which said under 2 stones. So I managed to figure it out from there.

The firtune teller clued me into some new things. And I finally found the answer to the fuse box buttons. >_>

I'm going to have to reorganize my notes a bit. Got like 3 pages of them right now and still not even close I think.

I know where the second place is. But Im waiting to see if the game gives me any hints towards it before I go as I got spoiled on that one.

I think I know whats required for the freezer. I know how to get the diary but just waiting for everything to line up as j dont want to get rid of the emerald bracelet from coat check. Its too good

I had the same experience as Kirbymuncher here. Gallery Puzzle felt absolutely impossible and ultimately I had to look it up. Turns out there is some logical interpretations of the Gallery puzzles but...they're pretty dumb imo

The letter K is thin. Thin K > Think.
The Letter P on a bunch of red things, but also the signs are mirrored. P on Red > Ponder
Genuine, Verified, Actual. All potential synonyms for "Real" + Eyes = Realize.
Room 8. Ruminate.

I dunno. I just cannot handle super subtle wordplay like that. Pretty much every puzzle I struggled with was something involving slant rhymes or non-literal interpretations of words. Small Gates still infuriates me.

But then there's the puzzle after Castling where it damn near tells you exactly what you need to do and how to do it. So bizarre. But yeah, anyways. Room 8 puzzle is one I found completely clear and straight-forward. Took me like 5 minutes.

regarding what I did I knew it was related to small gates counting and dates specifically. The option for May8 though I got through brute force of seeing what months I could make so wasnt sure if there was something else I was supposed to find that would lead me a bit closer to that specific date

I found room 46 a while ago and then carried on with a few more puzzles before dropping this. Glad I did because from what I've read, these late game puzzles seem insane and there's no way I'd have worked out even a fraction of them by myself

I'm on day 30 and I still haven't found it. I'm finding and solving more and more stuff that I'm starting to think aren't even helping to access room 46. Still haven't even gotten into the antechamber at all. Not sure if that's all I need to do, or if that's just the next step still. lol

I do admit I've taken a peek at some of the spoiler tags in the topic, and I have no clue what any of the ones I peeked at were in about. So I think I'm pretty far behind.

I would recommend just making room 46 your first goal for now - it's a good intro to the game in that it requires both general room drafting + house building, and steps a bit into the more complicated puzzles of the game (as I assume you know by now it's not just as easy as walking up there)

That's been my goal the whole time. I assume the antechamber is the next step to accessing it, but I haven't been able to get in. Anytime I make my way up, it hasn't been unlocked. Anytime it's unlocked, I can't reach it. lol

Yep, I have the western area with the shed, the apple orchard, gem cave, and the elevator. Still have the one steel door to open on the path to camp.

Edit: I also drained the well. But I don't have the key. I did access the basement another way once, but I couldn't do much but find more info for later.

Making it to room 46 is the tutorial. It might seem hard until you realize you can just use up days to fulfill very specific objectives. Getting to the workshop (which feels like it guarantees an item there?) is generally very very good, as it unlocks a myriad of things permanently.

The power hammer is just op. If you haven't made it yet, it's hammer + battery + lever. In fact, I would probably say don't even use the lever in the Greenroom. You might as well strike the very obvious looking weak wall next to it. That's where the real prize is.

Of course the secret garden room. You need that green key to get there, but I would say it's not entirely clear how to actually get in it outside quite literally guessing and just sorta vaguely piecing together musings in notes. You simply use it on the left or right side of the house when they're locked. You can use the power hammer there as well.

These things combined heavily raise your chance of getting to room 46. They're permanent changes so I would say most people who've unlocked it kinda gets to room 46 without really spending much effort. it's just like oh, I got here again, weee...

Now getting there with certain combinations of Dare or in the Cursed mode... man I still think about it today. Dare is currently at 0.5% completion and Curse is 0.3%. It was 0.3% and 0.2% respectively when I did it, so clearly it's still not really easy despite a week or so later

if you're really struggling to reach antechamber my guess would be that you are not placing enough early dead ends, and removing all your good rooms from the pool all at once early so you can't place any of them late

many dead ends have powerful items/effects to come along with them, and putting a few early on both gives you items to use for the rest of the run + ensures you won't get them later when your house is more crowded and you really need that door to be good because it's your only door left

Nah some of that stuff is a combination of luck and KNOWING what you need to draft.

id say focus on knowing which rooms can unlock 46 and then trying to make sure you have rerolls and mats enough that you can draft a room that has an entry to that door.

No, trust me, you're none of those things. It's just hard to do. That's why I recommend pretty much setting out to do very specific things. Pretty much obsessively aim to get a workshop the moment you are aware of the possibility of reaching those rooms (there's also one in weight room). If you get a wrench and open up the workshop, making the workshop a common room also basically cuts the RNG by a ton in any future runs

not really any spoilers but Ill tag it just incase anyone new is in the topic
you definitely can do it in the first day. Theres an achievement for it but its really difficult and you need to know what youre doing

but honestly this is the next part of the puzzle and becomes significantly easier once you have done it once.

Still progressing slowly, do few runs per day.

Ive done:
Clock puzzle, figuring out how to get to the room puzzle was easy. The puzzle itself awhile to figure out but wasnt as hard as gallery. But I messed up and did it on the reverse order from right to left and was getting stumped until I figured it out.

Reservoir was fun, until I got there with 30 keys and didnt have to figure it out, guess it would have been more fun earlier when it wasnt as easy to get keys.

Found the Orinidia Aries sigil in Secret Garden and solved it the sanctum.

Figured out to find the microchip at the bridge from A New Clue.

Its fun to figure out new math rules for the dart board, at the squiggly lines where you round up to closest 100.

Figured out the Chess Puzzle finally. I thought the different color pieces had meaning as well but I was wrong unless it comes back to another puzzle.

Done some other stuff as well.

My current goal is
Find the Xs and figure out the arrow in Archives from Aquarium clue.

Find more brick walls to break.

Find more clues about the Admin Key

Figure out more from A New Clue.

I just figured out what I was missing to get into room 46 the other day. I simply overlooked a button and I could've beaten the game then. At least I assume getting into room 46 is the end of the main game.

So, I feel really dumb about that. Also, I was streaming for like an hour before I realized my mic wasn't turned on too. lol
I'm a dum dum sometimes.

So, day 37 is over... Hopefully I can manage before day 40.

ok I think I have actually finished the game for real this time

what a wild game. it has so much game in it. I don't even understand how it exists. it's full of things that in a normal game would be silly easter eggs but here is mandatory progression. and the dev said it's possible to be played solo which is technically true (it's not like it requires crowdsourcing puzzle solutions across dozens of files or anything like that) but I honestly think that would be ridiculous just because of hw much slow random wandering there is and would be, you need to split it across a group

anyways it was very fun

On day 16, haven't reached room 46 yet. Just had a >3 hour run of 42(?) rooms, only 2 away from completely filling the house (plus one outside). Bought History of Orindia (First Edition) and both drafting strategies from the Bookshop.

I first learned of this game when NL streamed the demo ages ago, then watched a single episode of his run after it released. I then stopped watching and just bought the game myself.

Once I "finish" the game, I'll watch through the rest of his playthrough.

I first learned of this game when NL streamed the demo ages ago, then watched a single episode of his run after it released. I then stopped watching and just bought the game myself.

Once I "finish" the game, I'll watch through the rest of his playthrough.


I was playing along with him and I was maybe a few puzzles ahead of him. I got spoiled on two solutions from him but mostly it was really good to have someone thinking about the puzzle to help me think about it in a way I hadnt yet.

solving the safe in the study was purely down to him talking about something that was incorrect and me figuring out what I was actually supposed to do

but his last few it seemed like he didnt want to engage with the puzzle at all. And now he seems to have stopped streaming it so my desire to play has halted because I feel stuck

Oh my gosh... 3 runs just now. Unlocked the 46th room, but for one reason or another I could not access it any of those runs.

This last time I literally had 3 ways to access it, but none were unlocked. I ended up with literally 1 room left to draft, and I kid you not I found 2 items to unlock them in that room. But by the time I got them, I didn't have the steps to reach the unlock points again. I just had to let the day run out on my way. lol

So... Day 40 is a bust too. I really thought I had it that time until I ran out of rooms, but then the game trolled me with exactly what I needed and no way to get there again.

Ha, finally got into room 46. Did so on day 42. Would've been poetic to get there on day 46 but I wasn't going to waste the one and only time things aligned for me. But once I got things set and knew what to do it only took like 8-10 runs or so to things set, and one of those times I only failed due to having no steps left.

Yeah you ruined it by getting there too early smh. Honestly nice to know there isn't a day limit. Not too sure what ppl earlier on were complaining about in terms of RNG I guess since there's no lose con. I personally thought you only had a month, but a couple of secrets require you to be at a certain day anyways lol

I was looking at the Steam Achievements list and 23% of players have Trophy 8, while I haven't even seen Room 8 yet. I must be missing something obvious...

I dunno about "obvious" but that room is very easy to get to as long as you actually know how. it's not like it's hidden very late in the game or behind an insane RNG grind or anything. I suspect a decent number of that % just looked it up

Patch notes. Most of it is behind spoiler tags so I didn't read most of it. The path to 1.10 sounds interesting though.

It had always been my dream to release a definitive version of the game at launch. Im a big fan of complete standalone experiences and it was never my plan to continually tinker with the game with regular content updates, room rebalancing, or DLC and the like. Considering this is my first game, Im extremely proud of everything I managed to include for launch, but there are a few minor things that were not quite completed before our release date that I feel must be added to fulfill that original vision

Those inclusions will be added in 1.10, which will be the final major update to the game. It will be the definitive version of the game.

Among the planned inclusions in this final update: an overhyped arcade game, a curious house cat, accessibility features like color assist mode, controls remapping, cursor size/opacity settings, and widescreen support. Some UI/UX improvements, more variations for end-of-day manor descriptions and accompanying house illustrations, HUD display customization, final room/item balancing, and the addition of a handful of extra cinematics that I am still working on (the unlockable challenge modes actually have their own unique openings and endings!)
