I dont have numerical scores out of 10 assigned to these designs, but I think its safe that we are now officially in The equivalent of the 8/10 zone Brace yourselves! - 65. Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) @Xeybozn https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/0/012bc98e.jpg SHES married to Roger Rabbit? Yeah. What a lucky girl. Here is one of the most powerful sex symbols in animation, eastern or western. Nobodys got it quite like Jessica Rabbit. She wears a glittery red dress shes falling out of, 90-degree-angle high heels, and arm-length blue gloves. Her long orange hair flows over her bare shoulders. She doesnt have an hourglass figure, because hourglasses are thicker in the middle. Jessica Rabbit constantly gives off an air of inscrutability. What is she thinking? She isnt normal, she cant have normal thoughts, she must be on a pedestal at all times. Watch this scene, her introduction in the film: https://youtu.be/2bjGACO45DI?feature=shared&t=51 (timestamped) She is in complete control during this entire sequence, playing with the men in her audience like theyre toys. This only somehow makes her sexier. No, she isnt sexy; she is raw sex appeal itself, at least as much as a mainstream cartoon can get away with. The other waifus are burdened with things like character development and backstory. Jessica Rabbit is just sex. Thats her whole design. And she sells it one hundred percent. Fun fact: in the above scene, Bob Hoskins was told to imagine his ideal sexual fantasy during filmingbut he later said that what he pictured was less risque than what Jessica wound up becoming. ... 64. Saya (Saya no Uta) Snake5555555555 https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/b/beb5212e.jpg This was, I want to say, the hardest nomination for me to figure out. Yes, even harder than the Line. Saya appears in Saya no Uta, a visual novel, as an ordinary little girl, wearing a white dress. She has long black hair thats kind of shaped like a house (help cant unsee). The art for the games cover shows her with wings, but I dont know if she actually has those in the game, so I swapped her picture out for this one. But this is not what Saya actually looks like. Oh, no, no, no. Saya is actually a horrifying eldritch monstrosity thats so disturbing to behold that looking at her will drive you insane, in true Lovecraft style. She appears human to Fuminori, the protagonist, because his brain is screwed up from an accident where everything else looks gross and horrifyingeverything except her. So what do I do here? This is legit a thought-provoking nomination. To what extent is Sayas in-game design reflective of her character? Shes a kind of generic anime girl at first glance (house hair not included), and as weve seen in this ranking, those characters dont tend to do too hot. Do I make an exception for her because this isnt her true form? We dont learn any of Saya's backstory from her design. We learn it from the story, the way Fuminori perceives and interacts with her. Shes beautiful to him in a way that literally nothing else in the world is, so our suspicions are raised and later confirmed: she looks beautiful because shes the only thing that isnt. Her design is a lie. It is designed to fool and entrap us and on that level, it is a remarkable success. But its not a traditional nomination, is it? It stands apart from others. Some noms play against type, but Saya might be the only one that outright lies, and that weaves that lie so skillfully into its narrative. I cant really separate the visual design from the story here. She is ordinary, and shes designed to turn that ordinariness into something horrifying; she flips the script, so to speak. And her ordinariness hints at something darker simply by existing. A real puzzle of a nomination, one I definitely appreciated. ... Copied to Clipboard!

63. V (Devil May Cry 5) @Murphiroth https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/d/dc26039c.jpg Our third and final playable character from Devil May Cry 5 has arrived. In stark contrast with the macho, self-assured Dante and the macho, less self-assured Nero, V is a slender, sickly guy with no visible muscles. He wears an open, sleeveless leather coat with no shirt, and sandals. Sandals! This dude really offers something new. His body is covered in tattoos you can see through his coat. He wields a cane hes that sickly but his cane gets incorporated into his combat style. V rocks additional accessories, including: - a silver chain made out of skulls - a fingerless glove on his right hand - a tooth pendant around his neck - a silver ring on his left middle finger - a spiked bracelet around his left wrist - a book of poetry by William Blake This is a man who dresses for success. Not exactly what Id wear if I was going to fight demons, but V summons familiars for that anyway. Hes such a contrast with Nero and Dante. In a way Im glad all three were nominated, because they only make V stand out more. Hes a very mysterious character, oddly compelling they did a great job making a character with an air of mystery and a different feel than the others. To have a playable character be so frail and weak that he needs to use a cane, in a series like Devil May Freaking Crythats a gutsy move, and Vs design really helps sell the character. ... 62. Guernica (Persona 5 Tactica DLC) @Plasman https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/4/4723fe45.jpg Here we have a very sick, very stylish design. This character only appears in the DLC of a spinoff game of a spinoff series to a larger series (lol), so shes easy to miss, but once you see her, youll never forget her. Guernica, being named after a painting, screams canvas. Her hair, top, and white coat around her waist are all white, and she is of pale complexion. She has black tattoos running all throughout her arms and hands. But then you get further down and you see these bursts of color almost climbing up her legs. This gives the impression that Guernica isnt afraid to get dirty with her work and also that maybe her work is consuming her. For an alternate shot of her body that shows off more of her tattoos, behold: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/3/3b8172c9.jpg The art also plays around with angles and shapes. Guernicas hair is long and angular, like a lightning storm. Her coat also surges off her form in similar, parallel shapes. As Ive said in previous writeups, conveying freedom of movement is tough to do in still art, but Guernica absolutely pulls it off. Guernicas role in the Tactica DLC is a world-famous street artist and vandal. I dont know how much of this is spoilers, so just to be safe: ... Copied to Clipboard!

Zizou Olympia (The Legend of Dark Witch [Episode 2]) @AnalLogstick https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/8/8666cddb.jpg Our last character alphabetically is a kindred spirit to Guernica, maybe not in actual design but in aesthetics. Zizou Olympia is incredibly stylish. She wears a different outfit in each installment of The Legend of Dark Witch series; her episode 2 design was picked for this. One of my favorite color schemes is black and white, and Zizou has two-colored, black and white hair, with her white half covering her left eye. She has a white cape and a white wing in her cap, and black sleeves and leggings. The rest of her outfit is mostly purple. Im so happy to talk about a purple-tinted design I really like after so many low-placing purples! Shes got a purple vest, pants, and hat. She even has a purple eye, the color being red due to heterochromia. Zizou is a goddess who periodically has to go sort out the balance of magic by roughing up some bosses. She has a habit of talking down to other people, like, a lot. Theres nothing super deep here, but I do feel like thats okay. She doesnt need a strong backstory that ties into things. Her design is just that cool! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Everything is very ornate and precise, even down to his boots. The color combination of red and green and gold really pops. He has gold rings on some of his fingers! His overcoat does have the unfortunate side effect of making his head a little big though. Emmrich could easily be considered overdressed, but I dont think he is. Though I dont have full context, he lives in a fantasy city where some folks just sort of dress fabulously. It's especially fascinating because Emmerich is a necromancer! You know, the people who resurrect the dead? Stereotypically characters who deal with the dead are often portrayed in tones of gray and black. Death is spooky, after all. Emmrich says, nope, I have a color palette and I am going to use it. He has a serious, solemn face; he treats his job with gravity. But he absolutely plays against type when it comes to outfit. Hes so flashy! From my cursory overview, Emmrich gives off the vibes of being mostly serious but also wry and observational, and thats clearly conveyed with his face and stance. He takes himself and his job super seriously. Its a matter of pride. I get Doctor Strange vibes from his face. I originally had Emmrich aaaallll the way down at #116. He was the final stop on the mini-tier of dudes in cool duds. But Emmrich is a clear step above Hummel, Moze, and Percy in this category because I not only understand him on some level from his designIm also intrigued by him. A religious fanatic, dictator, manipulator, and all-around unpleasant person, Norn oversaw the conquest of multiple worlds and the forcible conversion of many individuals. Design-wise, shes a Phyrexian with a humanoid body but a very inhumanoid design. Her head, neck, and stomach are all blood red and muscular, while her chest, arms, and legs are all marble-colored. Thats actually not clothing or armor thats how they come in Phyrexia. She has no eyes. Instead she rocks a giant porcelain visor. It might seem impractical to have such a gargantuan headpiece, but she seems to get by just fine. Her mouth is quoting the wiki here filled with needle-like teeth, which you dont really see in the official art, and maybe that only makes it even more disgusting. The MTG Wiki has pictures, if you really must see. Norn embodies the best of being an alien design and the best of being a horror design. Shes truly disgusting to behold, but shes also probably top ten, maybe top five of character designs in the ranking to run the hell away from really fast. I mostly and simply aimed to nominate characters I enjoy drawing I definitely think you highlighted a good part of that appeal. He's a man who deals with death, but his design, despite taking obvious necromantic cues (that skull pin, the way his coat splayed open reminds me of an autopsy, etc), is so animated and full of life. And it reflects his personality and story rather well. He craves adventure, loves exploring the Necropolis, grows plants, and (spoiler alert) has a Necromancy as a plot device has always fascinated me, but I can find it tiring when used, especially in something that isn't intended to be terrifying. 58. Mind flayers (Dungeons & Dragons [3e]) @Anagram https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/a/a6c89a51.jpg If Elesh Norn is the metal album cover of the ranking, the mind flayers are like the Hot Topic: edgy but also more accessible. Teens love them! The mind flayers, also called illithids, are a race of, to quote the wiki, sadistic aberrations feared by sentient creatures on many worlds. They are always evil, and theyre definitely an example of outer appearances reflecting inner beauty, because theyre pretty hideous! Long, thin claws and green, Cthulhu-esque tentacles are the main features here. Their clothes are pretty straightforward: a simple frock outfit with a lil skull on it. They give off strong goth vibes (again, keeping with the Hot Topic comparison). I was surprised to find that the mind flayers design is comparatively restrained. Wizards of the Coast couldve gone for something flashier or more grotesque. But here I find the restraint a selling point. This is a race of beings presumably unconcerned with fashion. Why should they care what they look like? Their goal is subjugation and the consumption of brains. When youre a psychic, its what on the inside that matters, like your squishy brains.
