i guess i'm kind of just burnt out of the hate machine. i've been on gamefaqs since i was teen, and i've seen my fair share of anger from users. to see it continue in general on social media is just draining

maybe it's time for me to "touch grass" as the kids say.

I've learned that when a community decides that they hate something, they'll keep on finding shit about it to nitpick over.

Does the game have anything good going that wasn't a thing in previous games? I haven't played one since Black Flag.

People have been tired of Ubisoft open world for a bit and then the chuds are angry at them for the other stuff. It's a perfect storm of hate for Ubisoft

Imagine supporting Ubisoft.

This. But also, calling Assassin's Creed bad hasn't exactly been a hot topic for well over a decade. Now all of a sudden because it's triggered a fake culture war debate, people have come screaming to its defense and you need to justify disliking it while others have decided they need to scream their dislike louder.

Ubisoft is just going to have to get comfortable with people pissing on their shitty games.

the anti woke are butt hurt about this game cuz it has a black protag and one that is based on a historic figure so the hate will go on for a while till they leech on to another one to drum up their anti DEI hate boner

i'm personally liking it so far.

Ubisoft hasn't announced sales figures yet. They said it has 2 million players but the steam chart was showing like 60k concurrent, so either the overwhelming majority of players bought the game on console, or there's something significant about saying players instead of copies. I saw an article that pointed out that players would include everybody who is subscribed to Ubisoft Plus, so it may also be getting the Game Pass effect where a large number of people are downloading it for free.

As a point of comparison, I found an article from when Odyssey hit 60k concurrent on Steam and they were claiming about half a million copies sold on PC with Ubi reporting about 1.4 million sales opening weekend. Odyssey eventually went on to sell 10 million copies total. So either there was a massive shift in people going to console from pc, or Shadows is probably doing about as well as Odyssey and they're bumping the numbers up using subscription accounts.

same black flag was my last one i played in this series and i had burned out of the gameplay tho valhalla and odyssey look like i can enjoy them so i will play them along with shadows once my next pc i done down the line
