Isn't there a law for negligent parenting?

Being responsible for your kid dying is plenty of punishment. But yeah one would think that somebody is looking out for the kids whose parents aren't doing the job... or is that another department that Elon and Felon decided did not meet DOGE standards.

We charge people for abuse, neglect, negligent homicide, whole host of things if they get their kid killed because of shit like fad diets, but this particular bit of idiocy we're just supposed to let slide.

Even though it risks the health and lives of more than just these poor kids whose only fault is being born to idiots.

Well, their loved ones.

They figure out how much they fucked up when it's them, since it's the only way for their idiot brains to comprehend that bad things are bad.

And only if it's instantly or imminently fatal, give 'em a month and they'll be right back at it.

Unfortunately many of the children who died young in the 18th/19th century from these (now) preventable/treatable diseases never received gravestones or died too young to have names (infant mortality was so high you'd hold off giving a name). Sometimes families had so many kids die from disease they'd just bury them next to each other with simple grave markers.

It was a legit shock for me to see that map ITT where there are apparently only 4-5 states in the whole country with a sensible vaccination policy (i.e., no personal reason or religious exemptions, medical necessity only).

Right. Rejecting science and going back to what's "natural" means going back to the days when something like 30% or more of kids born died before the age of 5. The infant mortality rate came way down in the 20th century because of better hygiene, nutrition, and advances in medicine including vaccines.

"It was God's will!"

They better hope their God isn't real because God knows the truth in their heart and it's always the same selfish fear of their child turning out 'not normal' because of the vaccine. It has nothing to do with trust in what's in the vaccine, it has everything to do with they don't want a child that might be 'difficult' or 'different'. It's inherently selfish.

Yet the same folks who claim "God's will" were all too happy to ignore "God's will" when Biden won the 2020 election. Gee, it's almost as if they just say things that line up with what they believe are "God's will" and things that they don't like aren't.

A lack of trust isn't always a failure to reach someone. Some people simply refuse to be convinced by data.

Because any data that goes against what they already believe is just data planted by the people they "don't trust", so it doesn't matter really. And of course, do we think this guy knows a lick about science? Does he even understand what germ theory is? Is he aware of how scientific trials are conducted? Does he even know what a double-blind test is, or what random assignment to experimental groups is? Of course he doesn't. Because he's a D-average student with shit for brains who is too stupid to understand the evidence that he's "asking for".

And of course, this is going to get worse before it gets better. The link the TC wrote is actually quoting an article in The Atlantic, where the author interviewed someone else in this father's community who offered up this gem:

A man who'd spent his career installing irrigation equipment said he was suspicious of vaccines in part because he believed that the government had lied about the origins of COVID.

Link: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2025/03/texas-measles-outbreak-death-family/681985/

And of course, there's this gem, which I found in a Gallup poll that was linked to in the same article:

Today, 31% of Republicans and Republican leaners think vaccines are more dangerous than the diseases they are designed to prevent, compared with 5% of Democrats and Democratic leaners. The current figure for Republicans is up from 12% in 2019 and 6% in 2001.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/648308/far-fewer-regard-childhood-vaccinations-important.aspx

In other words, Republican politicians downplayed COVID-19, and now our country has a serious problem with vaccination. We are going to see more and more measles outbreaks as a result.

It would be one thing if we could just accept someone losing their kid as being punishment enough for their (in)actions to the point they don't really deserve to have anything else done to them, but you can tell this guy and people like him never truly cared about their kids anyway, so it hardly feels like a punishment at all.

And now the mother speaks up:

https://www.latintimes.com/anti-vaxx-mom-whose-daughter-died-measles-says-disease-wasnt-that-bad-578871

The parents of an unvaccinated Texas child who died from measles appeared in a video formulated by an anti-vaccine advocacy group where they railed against vaccines, even saying the disease "wasn't that bad.'

During the interview, the young couple doubled down on their decision not to vaccinate their child even after her death. Hailing from the Mennonite community, they argued that if measles patients had access to untested treatments, the MMR vaccines would be entirely unnecessary.

"We spent the morning at Dr. Ben Edwards' clinic, and the parents are all still sitting there saying they would rather have this than the MMR vaccination because they've seen so much injury, which we have as well," journalist Polly Tommey said while interviewing the couple. "Do you still feel the same way about the MMR vaccine versus measles and the proper treatment with Dr. Ben Edwards?"

"Absolutely [do] not take the MMR [vaccine]," said the mother. "The measles wasn't that bad. [The other children] got over it pretty quickly. And Dr. Edwards was there for us."

The parents described the symptoms of the illness their child exhibited, beginning with a fever, respiratory symptoms and the notorious rash that often accompanies it. However, days after contracting the illness, the child's fever continued and respiratory symptoms worsened as she began struggling to breathe.

The girl's parents took her to a hospital emergency room where she was admitted and diagnosed with pneumonia. After being placed on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit, the child passed away.

So essentially the measles isn't that bad cause most of her kids didn't die from it.
