It's really just nostalgia keeping this from being lower. It is a great concept and a fun diversion for one playthrough but mechanically it has just so many issues.

I like a lot of games after it more than it but this is probably one of the most important games of all time to me

10, best RPG ever made and of course launched a worldwide phenomenon. Insane that they fit all that on a Game Boy cartridge, when you look at early GB games.

I love all the manliness and glitches that come with it. The fucked up sprites (Golbat a particular fav), Wrap abuse, permafreeze, all the glitches.
Yes exactly. Makes for a great speedrun, skipping Marowak's ghost w/a Pok Doll, instant text glitch from the bike shop, red bar to speed up battles, etc

This is a strange one to rank. It's kind of a perfect hybrid between a game and a toy. I've played a few games in the series, and even from a modern perspective I think the older ones are better, simply because the core gameplay is faster.

I also can't ding it for having a minimal story because of that toy-like quality. In some ways it's refreshing to play a JRPG without any anime or otherwise dramatic bullshit.
