Alright I trained up a Flying type to help counter Eri's Fighting types. I didn't have a high level one. Time for Round 2!

Can a Pokemon expert explain to why this team is failing against Eri like I'm a 5 year old

Gardevoir Lv 55
Meowscarada Lv59
Honchkrow Lv.47
Klawf Lv.57
Tinkaton Lv.59
Raichu* Lv.46

I seem to be caught in a trap where my team's moves are super effective against Eri's but her team's moves are super effective against me and she always moves first. -_-

*The Raichu is only there because I was raising it to be my strong Electric type, it's not one I'm seriously using against Eri

You have a lot of defensively fragile Pokemon that also aren't that fast, your only "physically bulky" Pokemon is weak to Fighting, your Flying type has a secondary type that cancels out its resistance to Fighting, and your Psychic type is weak defensively and she has coverage moves on 3 of her Pokemon to hit it super effectively. Eri is a terrible matchup for this team, plain and simple. I'd recommend adding a Ghost-type, finding a different Flying or Psychic type to use, or using Pokemon that are either more bulky on the physical side or faster.

Nah, Eri's pretty tough to counter. Fighting is easy enough to counter but she also has attacks on her team that cover those weaknesses -- Dark Pulse, Rage Fist, Rock Tomb, etc. It's hard to fit a Psychic, Ghost, or Flying-type on your team without it dying because she covers those bases so well.

Try not to counter her using Pokemon with actual types that counter her. Pokemon in late generations have very wide movepools, and Terastalization helps too. You'll miss out on STAB bonuses but as long as the attacks are still super-effective, you should be fine.

Sigh, well my own fault for relying on this team for so long lol. Any specifics I could use? What was the team you used against Eri?

I do actually like that I kinda have a tough fight for once lol

My team at that point in the game was Skeledirge (I started with Fuecoco), Kilowattrel, Cyclizar, Barraskewda, Hypno, and Kingambit. So I had a bulky Ghost-type in Skeledirge, a sort of bulky Psychic-type (that didn't have an exploitable secondary typing like Gardevoir's Fairy type) in Hypno, a fast Flying-type attacker in Kilowattrel, and another fast attacker in Barraskewda.

If I remember right my team at that point was all three starters in their final evolutions (I traded eggs with some friends), Tinkaton, Kilowattrel, and Clodsire. Pretty sure the two that did most of the heavy lifting during the fight were Clodsire setting up entry hazards such as Toxic Spikes and Stealth Rock, and then Kilowattrel doing most of the actual fighting (with Terastalization taking away the Flying type and leaving it pure Electric)

Toxicroak = base 85 speed
Passimian = base 80 speed
Lucario = base 90 speed
Annihilape = base 90 speed
The Starmobile Revavroom apparently has different stats from the base Revavroom and is generated on the spot rather than having base stats, but it has an exact speed stat of 131 according to Bulbapedia.

Meanwhile your Pokemon:

Gardevoir = base 80 speed
Meowscarada = base 123 speed
Honchkrow = base 71 speed
Klawf = base 75 speed
Tinkaton = base 94 speed
Raichu = base 100 speed

Your only generally faster Pokemon are a Pokemon that's weak to Fighting (Meowscarada), a Pokemon whose only really good attacking move is resisted by Fighting (Tinkaton), and a Pokemon that's 8 levels underleveled compared to the Pokemon it's facing (Raichu). Her Pokemon should have close to perfect IV's (most gym leaders' Pokemon do) but yours should have EV's from you using them in battle while most NPC trainers don't have those. EDIT: Correction, Fighting doesn't resist Steel. I was mistaken. Tinkaton's Gigaton Hammer should be okay damage, just avoid Annihilape's Fire Punch and Revavroom's High Horsepower.

If your Gardevoir can't outspeed her lead Toxicroak and 1-shot it with Psychic, then you definitely need to level up more. Like I said, your team has a horrible matchup against fast Fighting types, especially with Eri's movesets that can hit Gardevoir's secondary Fairy type for super effective damage.

Good call. I would recommend leading with Hypno and either having it use Hypnosis to put Toxicroak to sleep or using non-damaging moves (a boosting move like Calm Mind or Nasty Plot or support moves like Reflect or Light Screen) until Toxicroak has used up all 5 uses of Sucker Punch. Sucker Punch has priority and will always go first, but it fails if the target isn't using an attacking move on the same turn. From there, Hypno and Kilowattrel should be able to handle the rest of the team, but your other Pokemon can come in and do some damage here and there too. Paralyzing stuff with Raichu's Nuzzle to slow them down might be helpful.

FINALLY

ERI'S BEEN SPANKED

Think overall this took 7 tries. Last two times before my winning try, I was able to get her down to Revaroom or whatever but couldn't seal the deal. But I made it using Hypno, Kilowattrel, and Tinkaton. Tinkaton did most of the carrying after Hypno and Kilowattrel got knocked out. But finally it's done.

Oh, look, Cassieopia is Team Star's big boss. Didn't see that coming. /s

As for Cassieopia's identity themself....it's Penny, isn't it?

But whew that was the hardest fight so far. That's the hardest it gets right.....right? >_>

Clavell's Polteageist, I assume? It has the ability Weak Armor, which lowers its defense but raises its speed when it gets hit by a physical move. You could try using special moves on it, but it has higher SpDef. Plus it also has the move Shell Smash, an insane boosting move that lets it basically sweep your whole team (unless you have a priority move that can hit it) if it manages to get the move off. You might want to bring Honchkrow back out, since it resists both of Polteageist's attacking moves and can also help with Oranguru, Skeledirge, and Amoonguss.

His Skeledirge, actually. I can take out all the others fine. The only issue is I only have one Water type strong enough to take one hit from it, but not two and the second hit comes first, consistently.

You probably have the exact same Speed stat, which randomizes who goes first. Gain one more level on your Water-type and you should consistently hit first every time.

Actually, you don't need to breed one! Attach a Mirror Herb to Klawf, delete one move so it has an open slot, and have a picnic with it and a Crawdaunt that knows Crabhammer in your party. Klawf will learn the move, no egg-hatching and re-training required.

On that note, Crabrawler is actually the easiest/earliest to pass the move on from, as it learns Crabhammer at level 37.

The E4 and Champion in the Victory Road story are disappointingly not that tough (especially the Champion, huge disappointment) but the actual final battle of that story against Nemona is pretty tough. The final battles of the other 2 stories are somewhere in the middle of those.

But then there's the final boss of the whole game waiting at the end of the Area Zero final story, who is IMO one of the most difficult trainers in the history of the franchise for someone on a first playthrough. I won't go into specific details, but that final boss has a full team of 6 Pokemon, all with stats nearly on par with legendary Pokemon (lower tier ones like the birds and Regis, but legendary nonetheless). Plus, some of them are Pokemon that you've likely never seen up to that point in the game, so unless you look up external information, you won't even know some of their typings to know what to use against them. The boss is a bit easier on repeat playthroughs or if you decide to look up external information, but not that much easier. Good luck.

I didn't buy the DLC (didn't want to give Gamefreak more money after I felt unsatisfied with how much of a buggy mess the main game is) so I've never experienced that one myself, but I've heard some horror stories about how difficult it is. Then again, it's in the post-game and after 2 entire DLC stories, so you have a lot more options to build your team for it compared to more limited options for the Area Zero story fight.
