FF16 was pretty damn awesome. Would put it at 7.5 or 8 at the highest.

Like what is universally considered a 7 but I give it a 9 or 10?

Or is it a game that I give a 7.49, so it rounds down to a 7 and any higher would be a 8?

Fun story.
A couple nice action scenes.
Minor polish on the robot killing (chunks flying off etc.)
Gameplay needed a lot of extra work.
Voice commands didn't work in the slightest

I agree with this. Incredible high points but the game meanders a lot which brings it down

I loved Binary Domain. Totally flew under the radar. I loved it so much I replayed it immediately after and I never do that.

My vote would be Terminator: Resistance. Totally a 7/10 game at best but the story and atmosphere elevates it so much if your a Terminator fan like me.

I can respect that sentiment, though I'd personally put Skyrim at 8/10 and Fallout 3 at 6/10 (the latter being rather generous), for too many reasons to list. No comment on Starfield, since I haven't played it and don't have any interest in changing that anytime soon.

Skyrim is a hard 10/10.

Final Fantasy 13

A true 7/10 masterpiece is something like John Woo's Stranglehold.

Starfield. The game simultaneously feels ambitious and bland. It's so weird.

Depends on what the 7/10 comes from. Something like Skyrim is a 7/10 prior to mods, but is it really fair to talk about it when no one is thinking about its pre-modded state?

That said, I'd agree to the LA Noire comment. So many botched moments surround the generally solid vibes that the game gives off, making it an experience that sticks with you in spite of all of the flaws.

Star Wars Outlaws comes to mind. It's frustrating when you think about how much better it should and could have been. But it's still pretty impressive a lot of the time.

For me the best 7/10 is Brutal Legend. I love it, I think it got a bad rap, but it's pretty flawed. Best licensed soundtrack in gaming, though.

I don't really know how one categorizes a 7/10 game.

My mind goes to something like Arkham Knight, where initially the clunky-ness of using the Batmobile made this game a 7/10 compared to the two Arkham games that came before it, but once you got the hang of the Batmobile controls, the game became immensely fun to play.

Enter the Matrix. It was fun but every jank and unfinished >_>

Brutal Legend, imo, felt like the biggest bait and switch. I'm used to the old NES/SNES era of games not matching what the cover shows, but Brutal Legends was worst because the trailers,screenshots in Gaming Magazines, and the playable demo made it look like a Hack n Slash akin to God of War...only for it to also be a RTS as well (which conveniently the demo left out as well).

But you're right about soundtrack though.

Honestly, it's probably Skyrim. It's a game that has incredible potential but also has so many flaws that it's hard to say it's an excellent game, even if it's one you can have a blast with for hundreds of hours.

Now once mods go into play, it absolutely ascends being a 7/10 game.

I really liked this back then, but I definitely wouldn't call it 7/10, lol. It's like a 5 or 6, and that's not even normalized around 5 as average.

Mass Effect Andromeda.

I played it after launch when most the bugs were fixed. The game is fun but not near the quality of the rest of the series

Whe round down when you can truncate? A lot less work and gets the same result.
