Parasite Eve is the only one of those I care about at all, in spite of your failed punctuation.

But even there, it was really only the first game that was worthwhile, so I wouldn't necessarily want the franchise to come back at this point anyway.

You writing FEAR made me think of Fear Effect though, and that's a franchise I'd kind of like to see come back if they actually made a new game that was like the original two, and not like the third game. Though that's a case where I feel like you'd never be able to replicate the feel of the original since the dev studio is long gone and it would basically be made by total random strangers.

The last 10 years or so have really hammered home the idea that we should really get used to the idea of the things we love dying or fading away, because the more we keep trying to bring things back, the more we bring them back wrong. Pop culture is basically just becoming a horde of zombie franchises and rotten corpses being raped by ghouls.

Parasite Eve and Jak and Daxter, as long as its only the first one ;)

third birthday killed parasite eve as a series, so that's out

dino crisis was never good

dark cloud 2 sucked so unless they just re-do the first one and go from there, it'll probably be bad

jak and daxter can stay dead

killzone would probably still be around if they didn't deliberately add input lag to the games, they just felt absolutely godawful to play

Second place would be FEAR, but in a "morbidly curious what they could possibly do with a new game" way.

Yeah I have literally never seen a "Dark Cloud was good but the sequel sucked" take anywhere on the internet in the 20 something years since they were released.

Out of the ones of those I have played, Jak & Daxter is the only one I'd like to see revived. But then then, I couldn't imagine that they'd actually do it right. It'd probably either be given no budget / time and thus doomed to fail. Or, the game would be changed so drastically that it wouldn't even be recognizable (didn't what ended up becoming The Last Of Us, originally begin production as Jak 4?)

it's like a boring spinoff game with a 17 hour tutorial intro and then the game ends

I tried to get into dark cloud 2 and just couldnt. I never made it past the beginning stages. But I suppose its worth a revisit

Parasite Eve, there's 2.25 games of good material, a book and a musical? That's enough for a modern game or two.

And yha, lets do Dark Cloud, it'll fail horribly in the modern era, either they'll make it trivial and pointless, or they'll include ALL the mechanics of the old days and nobody will touch it because it's too hard.

Parasite Eve is so good but I think the best scenario would be a very modest quality of life cleanup of it (fixing the menuing and Aya's cursed walk speed outside of battle for instance) and then keeping everything else the same. Its too short to justify a $70 remake and padding/a fleshed out rearrangement would ruin its charm.

If they brought Parasite Eve back it would literally just be Third Birthday but with FFVII remake graphics.
