She has an overwhelming mass market appeal... and that's about it. She's a good singer, with a good studio, good production values, everything is just 'good' and the subject matter she sings about is often broad and applies to just oceans of girls and even some guys, it's things the layperson can easily relate to. She's also very conventionally attractive, like a model. So her brand is just massive because it's just this huge blanket that can cover millions and millions and millions of people. You cannot reach her levels of popularity through logical means. That she is attractive, has a good voice, started off with lots of very catchy hits, has a wide range of work, etc are all reasons that people like her. But she is popular on the level of like, Michael Jackson, Elvis, and the Beatles and to be a cultural force like that requires a near endless list of big and little things nobody will ever be able to fully compile. I don't know if (or strongly believe) she'll have the influence (musically or culturally) of those names but I'm pretty sure her name won't be forgotten before everyone here is dead. ... I don't get it either, other than she's fully committed to her mission. To me, she's a live action walking Disney character: bright shiny over-white teeth, fully non-sexual no matter the garb, & the lyrics/messages are aimed for 14yr old girls/embraced by 44yr old girls. She's good at making pop music in the style that she makes, she's attractive and she's very polished. She's a pop star, it's not that deep. Credit where it's due though, she seems like a decent person behind the act and she seems to take care of her crew and support. She also doesn't really get caught up in controversy. --- Fan of metal?
